About The Makemakes:
Named after the micro planet Makemake, The Makemakes are a three-piece band consisting of Dominic Muhrer, Markus Christ and Florian Meindl. They released their first single in 2012 which made #6 in the Austrian charts and in 2014 “Million Euro Smile” (which was also in contention to be the Austrian entry) reached #2. The group opened for 80’s rockers Bon Jovi when they performed in Vienna in 2013.

Interesting Trivia:
The Makemakes had some good PR after a rumour that singer Dominic is the illegitimate son of Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz started in 2013

Makemakes

The Makemakes were selected by an international jury and the Austrian public beating off competition from bands Johann Sebastian Bass, Dawa and Folkshilfe as well as solo singers Zoe and Celina Ann. They are currently, at the time of writing, 29th favourite to win in Vienna this May.

Lyrics:
(Taken from 4lyrics)

Anytime that you’re thinking of me
That you might want me, I’ll come on over
Don’t you know, anytime, anyplace, I am yours

You’re a lesson that I love learning
So anytime that you’ve got a yearning
Don’t you know, anytime, anyplace, I am yours

You’re what I belong to, the one thing that feels true
Everything that I could ever want
If you ever need me, I’m waiting on you
To walk right through that door, anytime, any place, I am yours

If you’re hoping for second chances
Of stolen kisses, I got the answer
Don’t you know, anytime, anyplace, I’m yours

You’re what I belong to, the one thing that feels true
Everything I could ever want
If you ever need me, I’m waiting on you
To walk right through that door, anytime, any place, I’m yours

Ooh…

You’re what I belong to, the one thing that feels true
Everything I could ever want
If you ever need me, I’m waiting on you
To walk right through that door, anytime, any place, I’m yours
Anytime, any place, I’m yours

  1. 29th favourite…. if you’re going to fail at Eurovision Austria you could have least had fun with it and chose Johann Sebastian Bass

  2. I think The Makemakes were one of the 3 best options of the Austrian Final. However, despite not being a bad song, Austria’s entry is losing major ground on my list. To be honest I find it quite boring and the melody is so predictable that’s why it sounded familiar and likable on first listening.
This one is bottom 5 material on the 23d of May if I may cast my prediction. It could even end up last!

  3. I like this but I doubt we will hear it twice

  4. I’m beginning to like the Austrian entry a lot. It’s very much in the core of my musical taste, a simple pop/rock song with vocals, piano, guitar, bass and drums. It sounds authentic, and it goes straight to my heart. So now it is one of my big favourites :-)

I’m also beginning to appreciate Latvia more than I originally did. It’s still a bit of a screamfest in the chorus, but the mystic universe in the music is fascinating.
