    • Enjoy your night out, you need a rest from all this eurosaga am sure! am still crossing my fingers for you re Leicester City and staying up , you should be a generational Nottingham Forest fan like me (my father), how we suffer, at least Stuart has gone!! :-) won’t be following Austria tonight either though..!

  1. First of all I want to wish the best of luck to Austria and every other country in esc with their selections.

Now to the non related, serious and not pleasant stuff.

After much thought and not very fruitful conversations with the ET team I have taken the decision to take a very long break (if it is indefinite I don’t know, the future will show) from the forum.
I am well aware that I, and others, have made such statements in the past as well on the heat of the moment only to later take them back. This is not one such moment though. It’s a decision I took being very calm and sober and one I have been entertaining for quite a while.
Each time I made such a declaration in the past, what brought me back was the reminder that there are still people on this forum I really like, people I value their opinion, their kindness and respect, people who are worthy of having to engage and tolerate some of the not so good aspects of the forum and some of its users.
These people are the reason I am writing this comment as well. For as much as I appreciate exchanging opinions with them and I did every compromise available to be able to keep that, I am afraid I cannot do this any longer without seriously compromising my dignity and values.
Our differences with the ET team are irreconcilable on many aspects regarding freedom of speech and objective standards of behavioral evaluation. That said I do not hold a grudge against them or blame them for intentional animus.
As a person I am a passionate and firm supporter of mutual respect and of equality in all aspects. I cannot stand offensive, degrading and ironic behaviour towards people for who they are, what they like, where they come from etc and that’s a stance I take on every aspect of my life, whether that’s “real” life or “online” life and on every subject, from politics and affiliation to music and taste. And I passionately protest against such things, not out of a will to cause disruption but out of pure dissapointment that such behaviour itself does not cause the disruption it should cause itself. I am a big supporter of the theory that people should be treated the same way they treat you in order to make them see their mistakes. Some times I just find it too hard though to stoop as low.
Regardless of the many compromises I have made though through the years with behaviours I find appaling, not only did I not receive any reciprocation of compromise but I am the one under prosecution and censorship. I tried for several weeks lately to continue my presence here under very hard circumstances of moderation, attacks, rigidity and a complete ignorance of my complaints (as I have been guided to address them with the editorial team directly rather than address it in a confrontational way on the forum). I am afraid my good will has limits as well. By doing this further I severely compromise things I believe passionately in, as I described above.

My decision (for those who do not take it seriously you should btw) will make some people happy and relieved and it will leave some people indifferent ( I hardly expect that it will make anyone sad – and no I am not saying this to win cheap sympathy points). To those belonging in the 2nd category, I just want to say I appreciated every single conversation we had. To those belonging to the 1st category (you know who you are), I got nothing to say honestly. Not because I disregard you but because after years of trying hard to make a point without any sign you understand or even try to do so, I doubt anything I will say right now will change anything.

On a last note, I just want to find again the joy that esc has been causing to me for so many years and by the constant atmosphere here, I seem to have lost somewhat. I have been thinking about starting an esc forum myself along with a friend for quite sometime and it may be time to realize that plan :) Who knows what the future holds ! One thing is for sure. I won’t stop loving esc as I won’t stop believing in what I believe in terms of values when it comes to human relationships (virtual or real).

I apologize for the lengthy comment and the space it will take over (if it is allowed to be posted after all).

    Farewell :) !

    • Since this is a very serious affair, I did not want to reply between two acts performing in Austria but waited until the show was over. I am very sad to learn that you have decided to leave ET. (You know that I love irony but I am not being ironic now. I mean exactly what I say.) I have never understood why things got confrontational here and never intended them to become so. I would be very happy to see you back in the future. Finally, I wish you all the best and hope that your ESC blog will be both fun and a success.
      :(

    • Well,it’s always sad to see people leave especially when they really love eurovision and they have a valid view on all things esc-related but ultimately it’s your decision to make and you know better.
I never really understood why you took some of the comments related to certain genres or formats so personal and you became so confrontational but this is me and you’re a different person.
I hope you’ll find your way back to the site someday if it doesn’t cause you so much distress anymore.Good luck with your site!

  2. Off topic: The whole Dimitris Kontopoulos team is in Moscow.Could they be working with Filip Kirkorov in order to prepare the Russian entry?

  3. I am so sad but I’ll miss this on and probably wont be on tomorrow either! I am sad coz I have huge expectations on Austria, and with 12 songs finally out is the night I can’t be on. Oh well. They better be on YT later (after all it’s the only NF tonight)…

By the way, I just noticed the live traffic feed thinks I’m in Levallois-Perret, a town very near mine, but an AWFUL town with the WORST French politician as mayor and representative at the Assemblée, and it’s NOT where I will EVER live!

  4. They began the show saying that they will look for a song “suitable for ESC”. Why don’t they simply look for a good song? ;)

  5. I enjoyed the Makemakes, but it’s nothing to write home about. I could see CH sending something like that for some reason

  6. Celina Ann – When I fall: It’s a good no-fuss ballad and she has a very good vocal technique imo. I would love her to put more of her personality into her performances though. The whole act comes across as a bit sterile. Beautiful dress. 8/12

  7. Celina Ann – When I fall: Much better!A memorable ballad with top-notch vocals and God,she’s gorgeous!I know someone will be wetting his pants when he watches this. :P

  8. The jury was impressed by her vocal technique but was no fan of the song. I think that we’ll have a 100 % jury vote tonight. Is that correct?

  9. The coach recommended DAWA to become more commercial for ESC. He even suggested to include some “Ohoh” … :(

  10. DAWA – If you return: I love this! The best so far.Distinctive sound and a great performance from the band. 10+/12

  11. DAWA – If you return: At first, I really loved this song but they ran out of ideas after 2 minutes. And the vocals sounded a bit stressed. I like their attitude though. 8/12

  12. The jury likes the band’s attitude too but thought the song pretty weak. They called it “album material”
