  1. Yees! That’s how every contest should be. Congratulations, Norway!

P.S.: again, the giant was not in the picture when these votes were cast. :)

    • Don’t know about the blonde. Krista is beautiful on the outside and on the inside.

But its not like I would be complaining at all if i were dating Margaret lol.

      • I am old enough to remember watching Bonnie when she first hit the scene in 1977 when I was 10 – not quite my first pop crush, that would be Kate Bush!

She was hot then – I suppose for 61, she’s a lot better than most women her age now…

As a 46 year old bloke though, I’d rather dream about Margaret, Zlata, Natalie, Despina…

  2. Congratulations to both entries. Norway got my vote too.

Re: today’s rehearsal’s I won’t be watching any material. I’ll wait for the second ones which are usually more …revealing. But judging by the comments on the respective thread, it seems that things went pretty much as expected. So, I haven’t missed much I assume :)

  3. You are kidding really..lol ! :)
Still even with the giant my vote would go to Ukraine. Congrats Zlata :) !

  4. Yes the top 3 of teko 2013 is Netherlands, Norway, Ukraine.

…for those who despise the greek entry this year, of course.

  5. 50/50 what a pleasant ending to TEKO 13, im glad that it was more or less a draw becuase I like both entries, in different ways, and remember the giant is only one part of the entry! and at least it does have meanings behind it, they havnt just decided to plonk it on stage like Montenegro’s donkey in 2012.

  6. Ha, I liked both songs equally but I thought Norway would need a hand more than Ukraine, looks like it made a difference (along with 156 other people)

  7. Excuse my French, but mille millions de mille milliards de mille sabords!!

    Congratulations to Norway, though.

  8. I didn’t know who to vote for either…
    Ukraine is my #11 , Norway my #12 ! LOL !
Congrats to both ladies ( one for the song the other for the vocal abilities )

    • Make the millions of American readers of ET happy by posting an other article about Finland.

May I suggest a title of “Finland’s greatest ever singer/performer garners positive world wide press leading into eurovision”

    • It shows later on , during the article that all she cares for is to secure the gay votes…
      Pathetic and boo!

      • no it doesnt it shows that she is passionate, brave and courageous in standing up and fighting for what is morally right, she’s not bothered about geting a gay following, she cares about making her vioce and opinion heard, and she should be comended for that, like Anke last year when she anounced the German votes. She’s been the ‘adult’ by seting an example to the cognitively undelevoped and uncivilised dictatorships ‘the children’ which participate in eurovision that everyone should have equal rights regardless of their sexual orientation.

    • For those of you outside of the UK, the Daily Mail would be the paper of choice for the right-wing masses who are anti-gay, anti-Europe in all its forms and anti-equal marriage rights.

I’m sure that the story gets its core readership all nicely worked up…

      • The guardian would be an example of the the left wing paper. I actually read both the guardian and daily mail (in digital forms of course they are not sold as physical copies here) not for the politics but for their sports section.

          • But, she is sticking her neck out because she opens herself up by bringing politics into it, because once you publicly take a side in this during eurovision you automatically turn it political like it or not.

Especially when you make it a mantra of your entry. She better have some tough skin because the potential of it getting rough for her is there.

Plus, if you are not sincere (which there is no evidence of this anywhere) you risk alienating your supporters along the way as well.

Buckle up because team ding dong is on its way. I have a feeling there will never be a dull moment once they arrive. I cant wait to see the windstorm in action, with the world’s press around to document it all.

I do want to pick up a paper here in the next two weeks and see a big picture of her in there. At this rate it may happen.

            • isnt it wise and good Krista wasn’t sent to Baku last year or Moscow in 2009 considering how anti-gay/bi/lis the country is, things would sure to turn nasty on the scoreboard for Finland if Krista was their 2012 entry.

            • If EBU is against this and doesnt permit it then EBU can be criticised for been a homophobic dictatorship and favouring the views of ‘some’ the cognitively undeveloped Azeri’s, Belarusians and Russians who think that homophobia is acceptable. I’ll be realy disgusted with the EBU if they say Krista can’t do this.

            • But even this year, I am now pretty sure now the EBU is going to ban any kissing antics during the performance because she pretty much is implying they are going to do it in the final.(unless of course they are just hyping up the entry for more publicity and have no intentions of even addressing the issue aka using the press to hype up the entry and build anticipation)

            • I think we need to start up a petition to the EBU lol at this rate :/ why ban a protest of something as moral as fighting for equal mariage! EBU are favouring the non-democratic, cognitively developed dictatorships as per usual!

            • *undeveloped
but a petetition for something like this would gain a lot of support since eurovision does have a large LGBT following.

            • Yes, I know this begins at the semi final but lets be real, “We Should Be Through”, the semifinal is just a warm up.

And yes, I may regret writing this sentence 2 weeks form know lol.

            • In another situation I would say no as well, but there may be pressure put on the EBU over this whole thing.

To me, this doesn’t matter because this kiss being there or not certainly won’t affect how I feel about the entry.

            • We all know that the EBU is little more than a bunch of cowards. Why are they so afraid of transparency when it comes to detailled voting results f. e.? I am pretty sure that they fear the protest that would arise in many Northern, Central and Western European countries too much to dare ban a kiss.

            • “We all know that the EBU is little more than a bunch of cowards”

So whether is gets banned or not will come down to whose protests they fear the most. Let the games begin.

As for the voting, I have yet to hear one solid reason they need to be hidden like it is some national security threat.

            • aha toggie the east wouldn’t be that bothered would they, they’d just be against the message behind the kiss.

            • The tide has turned. Press and most of the public opinion are more likely to revolt against homophobia than against religious or moral bs. There’s no Fox News in Europe and the continent nowadays is not really that religious. She’ll be fine.

            • Nobody asked me but if they do go ahead with it hopefully it is Krista and Reetta (she is the tall backing vocalist) lol.

Krista and the short haired blonde ding dong dancer would be my second favorite combination lol.

            • @ Scotty,

but we shouldn’t be judgmental or feel superior because of that. The Eastern (and Central Mediterranean) countries have a different history and cultural tradition. I am pretty sure that most of them will see sense in the near future. (The www will help a lot, I guess …)

            • @toggie

so then we should try to respect these countries views and not get on our (my) high hourse when they don’t conform to what would be considered as the moral view in Western and Northern cultures.

            • I don’t live in UK but I’ve got a good memory! May I ask a question ? Which country Tatu used to represent reticently? UK? A lot of people say let us not make ESC political platform, so let’s do it! IT IS A SONG CONTEST!

            • I don’t think a band created as a mummers play designed to titilate pervs is a good example.

            • I think country where this video was crated and was rotated is not dangerous for Krista’s cheap P.R. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-F-JfWqMG6g ! I agree with above mentioned opinion that in different parts of Europe culture is very different! In some parts of it in Caucasus women may be considered not moral if she has sexual experiance before her marriage or kissing of a girl and boy in public place maybe considered as voulgar act (mainly in the villages and northern caucasus)! People in UK must take under consideration the culture of UK and those who are in the east must try above mentions counties’ traditions Russia and Azerbaijan! You are talking about gay rights in Russia you must know that very often caucasus looking men are attaked in Russian cities by Skin Head nationalists and are killed often under motto “Russia for Russians” and here is one video of angry people:

But I don’t find all russians nazzis ! And I don’t think that isolating countries which have problems with humman rights will bring something good. Only integration and communication may do it!

            • I was just mentioning how tatu was about explotation instead of progress but I agree with the general gist of what you say

  9. My only objection to Krista’s gay kiss would be the fact it doesn’t feel genuine. All this talk about this being a pro-legalizing same sex mariage act began right after her Amsterdam performance and because it brought her publicity. It looks as though she does it because she is an attention seeker(she made that clear)and not because of real care about same sex marriages.

    • I agree with you. I don’t believe in this talk that the song has always had a gay marriage message. What in the song, the performance, the music video is about that? In my eyes, this is just a new publicity try because the ding dong has been overused.

    • I do think she cares about the issue, but the publicity certainly caused her to become more vocal about it for sure. We will not find out later she is against it all and was just acting all this time.

The Finland people have proven to be very savvy so far. They are going for maximum exposure and are not sitting back waiting for things to happen. They are smart to realize that this is the biggest audience she has been exposed to in her career and they are going to try everything to make sure they get some rewards (musical and financial) out of this journey. They are certainly going in there with an agenda.

Music is a tough business to make it in and Finnish acts breaking out are rare. It seems she has a lot of ambition and desire to make it. She may step on a few toes in the process. That is the reality of the situation. She is going to grab this opportunity by the throat.

Will it turn some people off? Yes. Do some people disagree with the strategy and prefer the eurovision entries play nice? Of course, I can easily see backlash as the process unfolds, but if they are able to buy a new house or car at the end of it all it would be worth the trouble. Plus Krista has too much talent and desire to be stuck in local clubs back home.

And I have no affiliation with the Finnish delegation or Krista and I am not being paid in any way to say these things lol.

  10. Lovely, dark and moody has vanquished light and silly. FINALLY my vote actually went to the winner. ;)

And it’s FINALLY that time of the year again, where my sleep is sacrificed to making graphics, rankings, reviews and watching the escXtra webcast at 1:30 in the morning. Even though we’re only one day in, I’m so excited, I could burst! :D

P.S. How does seemingly every thread on this site somehow devolve into talking about Finland and its various facets?

P.S.S. Hopefully my new profile name comes up and that it makes conversation a bit more helpful. ;)
