Isreal – BA, the Israeli national broadcaster has now opened its selection process for Malmö 2013. It has announced the rules for its national selection Kdam Eurovision. The broadcaster has made a call for artists and songs. Composers and singers can submit their applications until 16 January 2013.
The rules of Kdam Eurovision can be found here. Artists and composers wishing to apply can do so by sending their applications via email to kdam2013@iba.org.il. An internal selection panel of music industry experts will choose 30 songs which will go forward to 3 heats, a second chance show, and the national final. It will all start on 26 February, with the national final being held on 7th March 2013.
Feb 26th – Kdam Eurovision Heat 1
Feb 27th – Kdam Eurovision Heat 2
Feb 28th – Kdam Eurovision Heat 3
Mar 3rd – Kdam Eurovision Second Chance Show
Mar 7th – Kdam Eurovision National Final
The final vote will be split 30% jury / 70% public vote.

Personally I would like Shiri Maimon (very unlikely though), she’s the best israeli act in the 2000s or Chen Aharoni (i don’t know how to write it) because I liked his attemp in Kdam 2011
I don’t know any singer from Israel so have no favorites. My favorite Israelian entry was Boaz’s entry of 2008,Also loved the entries 2009, 2010 and 2012 (the most underrated Israeli entry of the recent period). 2011 was horror! Goodluck!
Good luck, Israel. Izabo not qualifying this year was one of the biggest injustices in the history of ESC imo. Except for the 2011 horror, I have liked all Israeli ESC songs since 2007.
Israel is pretty present in my ESC pantheon: 73, 77, 78, 79, 88, 90, 91, 08, 10, 12 are all there. Quite impressive, I’d say. On my list of ESC countries, Israel is in 14th place with an average of 6.83.
If I could pick the artist representing Israel, I would choose either Ivri Lider or Idan Raichel. Both have been among my favourite singers for years.

It’s been quite some time since Israel provided an entry I loved so I hope this format brings something better. 2009 and 2005 are the only Israeli entries I liked recently with only the later reaching my top 10. Although I have to admit I am still recovering from the 2000 an 2007 horrors..

Israel was amazing in the 70s and then after a few horrors they started to get back on track and are in my Top 10 in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012… the only year they went for a NF was the only year they were out of my Top 10 and into my bottom 5, seriously, Dana can not sing live and it showed big time… So I hope for the best and fear the worst…
Israel is one of my favourite ESC countries. I am so glad that they are asking for Israeli citizens tp write and sing the songs (at least according to ESC Portugal). At least they will not be flooded by Swedish teams. Good luck.
