Germany – After concerns were raised by Eurovision Ireland about two songs in the German final, one has apparently been changed. Eurovision Ireland had previously reported there were several similarities between Die Priester feat. Mojca Erdmann and their song “Ave Maris Stella“ and several religious songs from the 16th and 19th Centuries. According to Blog.prinze.de it has now been decided that Die Priester will now change their entry.
Eurovision Ireland had also pointed out to NDR, the German broadcaster, that Mobilee and their song “Little Sister” had also been available on YouTube well in advance of the cut off date for performance, Sept 1st. Blog.prinze.de has a report on this here. Apparently it has been decided that as the video had received very small numbers of views, no competitive advantage had been given to Mobilee and their entry. Is this fair that the rules can be waved for this act? The rules are there for a reason.
All of this comes as Switzerland are still deciding what to do about their representatives who must change their name as it would break the rules of promoting a commercial organisation, and on the back of a disqualification in Estonia.
It seems staggering that year after year songs are breaking the rules. Fans know what the rules are, so how can composers, singers and national broadcasters not know, and have these games every year?
I’ll make an article on Finland tomorrow if we get the 6 other “jury performances” still missing, but all MP3 are out, and wow to Finland
I doubt the remaining 6 performances will be uploaded this week. It’s the contenders of the 1st semi the ones that were uploaded today. The show is on 3rd or 4th January. The second show is due to be broadcasted the following week.
good point…
Krista is really the ONE weak one of them all, what was the jury’s thinking, get her out of here already
Mobilee – “Little Sister” is totally OK! :)
I LUV banjo!! :D
But I expect Cascada – “Glorioius” to be my favorite! :-*
Another snippet from the German final is out. Here is Blitzkids mvt.-Heart on the line.
This is all right, reminds me of Norsk MGP!
Happy NY dimitris calling.
Happy New year!
Listened to some of the German hopefuls and I’m impressed :) really liked Mobilee and Blitzkids…Die priester is also very interesting…Can’t wait to hear the rest…well done Germany
Hii mer maid!! :-***
I also love Mobilee, it’s so groovy and great with banjo instrument! :D
I can’t wait to listen to Cascada – “Glorious”? Have you heard for Cascada? is it poplar in Turkey? here it is!
Hello Marko :*
Some of Cascada’s songs are being played in the clubs but I can’t say they are very well know here…
This year Germany will seem to rock again :)I am also looking forward to Serbian selection, any news or names?

Ben Ivory’s full is very interesting. Maybe this will work for you, toggie, it’s not youtube.
Thanks for the links. I like both songs and really look forward to our national final this year. It might even be that the German NF will enter my top 3 of NFs for the 1st time ever … but we will see.

No problem guys and in case anyone couldn’t hear Heart On The Line’s full on youtube, here’s the Dailymotion link :)
It’ll be just another lazy Sunday for me so music, music, music is my focus :D That and my mom, sister, brother, and my baby nieces are coming back home from LA. They’ve only been gone a few days and I miss them. My twin nieces are my new pride and joy, such happy, smiley, bouncy babies :)
^It’s Cascada’s song.
Am I understanding this right; Xavier Naidoo won’t be part of Söhne Mannheims in the NF? :O

Thanks for the links!I like “Craving”!It reminds me of “Cry,cry” by Oceana.
In Germany they seem to be on track again ! From the songs available so far :
1)Mobilee – Little sister : 9/10
2)Die Priester ft Mojca Erdmann – Ave Maris Stella : 9/10 ( disqualified or not? )
3)Ben Ivory – The righteous ones : 8/10
4)Blitzkids mvt. – Heart on the line : 6.5/10
Good luck !
My only concern is whether it is fair for some songs to be online earlier , when NDR had previously informed us that all 12 songs would be presented some days ( a week? ) prior to the German NF so as the internet public would start voting on them ( 1/3 of the total vote of the 14th of February ).
There also seem to be some issues with the “1st of September” rule regarding some entries as I read on oikotimes.com.Is this true?
As far as I know Die Priester will compete with a new song but I don’t know whether Mojca Erdmann will be part of this new song or not.
I’m actually really looking forward to the German NF this year – NDR have managed to put together a strong line-up of both well-known, established acts and promising new talents.
My personal favourites are:
Mobilee – “Little Sister” (7/12) – A nice, if slightly unremarkable song – I’m getting shades of Anna Rossinelli here??
Ben Ivory – “The Righteous Ones” (8/12) – He kinda seems like the German Patrick Wolf, although a little more “pop”.
Blitzkids Mvt. – “Heart On The Line” (10/12) – A really cool electro-pop song with elements of new-wave
Mia Diekow – “Lieblingslied” (12/12) – Hopefully…
Even though both Blitzkids’ and Saint Lu had really interesting songs, I’m still crossing my fingers for Bavarian brass or gregorian chant. :)
Cascada’s Glorious is another avarage club song so I’m not impressed but I really loved Craving …Mobilee and Saint Lu are my faves so far!
Yes, I’m not impressed with Cascada either. It’s ordinary stuff. My favourites are Mobilée & Saint Lu. Ben’s entry isn’t that bad either.
I’m extremely disappointed that Xavier Naidoo won’t be singing with Söhne Mannheims. That was definitely the biggest letdown of the season for me. They will probably still have a good entry though, likely the best to my taste, but it won’t be the same without Xavier. :(
A full statement released after Mobilee-gate:
“The compositions (lyrics and music)must not have been commercially released before 1 September 2012. In case the composition has been made available to the public, for example, but not limited to, on online video platforms, social networks or (semi-) publicly accessible databanks, the Participating Broadcaster must inform the ESC Executive Supervisor, who shall have authority to evaluate whether the composition is eligible for participation in the Event. In particular, the ESC Executive Supervisor shall assess whether such disclosure prior to 1 September 2012 is likely to give to the composition an advantage in the Event vis-à-vis the other compositions. The ESC Executive Supervisor shall authorise or deny participation of a composition which may have been available to the public as described above, subject to the prior approval of the Reference Group.”
I did not undersyand anything from the statement above :) Is Mobilee in danger or what? :)
It all boils down to this: The broadcaster must show the EBU and the EBU decides if an entry’s getting an advantage or not. In other words, there could be exceptions to the September 1st rule which makes me wonder why they have date limits in the first place.
Making an exeption or changing the rules harms the contest and its credibility imo
Rules are rules..Every participant country should bother to check the rules before they participate, simple as that!
https://soundcloud.com/lg-soundcloud-12/07-any-ddal?in=lg-soundcloud-12/sets/the-hated-tomorrow-szabad-eur Another song to test the rules, this time from Hungary. It was released in the beginning of June…
Songs are being uploaded on the broadcaster’s site so toggie you can hear them no problem :D

Well, now we know 9 full songs.I’m not impressed by Mia Dekow’s song.Nica and Joe are competing with a rather generic song too.
