Netherlands: Announcement Pushed Back

Netherlands – The Dutch national broadcaster TROS has announced today that the participants in the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 will be announced on January 5. Originally the competitors were supposed to be revealed in the “first weeks of December”. According to TROS the amount of entries submitted went way beyond what they expected and in order to assess all the songs thoroughly more time would be needed. In total over 500 submissions were made.

This year the selection will be produced by John DeMol who is the mastermind behind television shows such as “Big Brother” and “The Voice of...”

Last year the Netherlands failed for the seventh consecutive time to qualify from the semi-final with the popular band “The 3Js”. They even came last in their semi with only 19 points.

Here is their entry “Never Alone“:

  1. “participants in the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011” I think you mean 2012 ;).

This is a great problem for the Netherlands to have – here’s hoping for an exciting NF and a great entry to bring them into the Final in Baku!

  2. John de Mol ehm…I’m sure will be one of finalist from The voice candidate. It’s ok…!

  3. I really wanted 3Js to pass the final, but no it didn’t :( For me nothing was wrong with this song

I am happy many applied for the next NF, so now I just hope they will pick a good and pass.

    Best of luck Netherlands

  4. A Dutch friend told me that this had been submitted, I hope it makes the final cut. It’s in Frisian. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8xj4B9DOuI

  5. The list of entries being made public is endless so I’m not writing any articles until it’s been trimmed down :x

  6. Netherlands is easily my least favorite esc country of the past 10 years, along with the Uk
