Austria 2011: Radio station organizes national final

Austria – The Austrian broadcaster will, for the first time since 2007, send an Austrian participant to the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Germany. Now TVMedia reports, that the biggest Austrian radio station “Hitradio Ö3” will be entrusted with the national selection process. From October on the event will be promoted on Ö3 and until February they want to find one representative for each of the 9 Austrian regions, the “Bundesländer”. Meanwhile authors and composers will also be asked to send in propositions for songs.

Austria had announced its withdrawal in 2007 due to the lack of success and influence of political voting in the contest, leaving Austria no chance to score well. After Germany’s win this position had to be reconsidered and thus Austria decided to return in 2011.
