Turkey: It’s Internal Selection!

Turkey – Turkish broadcaster TRT has confirmed to Esctoday that they’ve taken the decision that their 2013 entry at the Eurovision Song Contest held in Malmö will be chosen internally, as it has been so since 2006. Turkey – Yesterday saw Turkish officials hold a meeting to discuss how to proceed with Eurovision 2013… and they couldn’t seem to agree on a way forward. An Advisory Board has been established by the Turkish broadcaster TRT, with the Board representatives giving their opinions on what strategy to use this year. Turkey: TRT Considers Withdrawal

  Turkey – According to escXtra.com, several Turkish media outlets report that the Turkish national broadcaster TRT is considering to withdraw from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013. The general director of TRT, İbrahim Şahin, went on record saying that Eurovision has become too predictable, with the winner being known months before the actual contest. Turkey: Participation in Eurovision 2013 Confirmed!

  Turkey – The Turkish national broadcaster TRT has told the Eurovision website escXtra.com through their twitter account, that they will be participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö. In recent year’s Turkey had internally selected its entry and except from 2011, when they failed to qualify for the final for the first time, had success with this format. Even though the selection method for 2013 has not been disclosed yet, another internal selection seems most likely. (more…)

Turkey: Can Bonomo Rehearses for Outside Concert

Turkey – A large stage in the Eurovillage on the promenade in baku will play host to concerts this week. As well as Jedward hopefully performing on Thursday, Turkey’s Can Bonomo is also expected to make an appearance. He was seen rehearsing on the stage this lunchtime, check out the video footage here. Eurovision 2012 – A further five acts have this morning completed their second rehearsals. Slovenia, Croatia, Sweden, Georgia and Turkey have all now had several run throughs each, and we’ve got a feel for what it may look and sound like in the semi finals. TurkeyCan Bonomo, the repersentative for Turkey in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Baku has just revealed his song. Entitled “Love Me Back” it was presented on several Turkish TV channels and also worldwide via Eurovision.tv.   Turkey – Can Bonomo was completely unknown to most of his fellow countrymen before TRT announced that he would represent Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. Turkey: Song Revealed End of February

  Turkey – The national broadcaster TRT today announced that Turkish representative, Can Bonomo, will present three different songs to them, and they will make the ultimate decision as to which song will go to Baku. It has not been decided yet in which language Bonomo will sing. The final choice will be revealed by TRT in the last week of February. Bonomo will work on the three songs with producer Can Saban. Bonomo was selected internally by Turkey, and announced last week as their representative for Baku, Azerbaijan. (more…)

  Turkey – It’s official! Can Bonomo will represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Azerbaijan. So once again, every single rumor in Turkish media and on Eurovision sites (including ours) was wrong again. Apparently there were also negotiations with Atiye Deniz but after lengthy discussions between the directors of the channel Can Bonomo was chosen to fly the Turkish flag in Baku. (more…)

Turkey: 80% Chance Atiye Deniz to Eurovision

  Turkey – Last week Turkish national broadcaster TRT published a list of 5 names that were potentially represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. According to the newspaper Milliyet, Atiye is now the strongest candidate to represent Turkey. Sources close to the station would have revealed that there is a 80% chance that the singer is selected. [UPD] Erol Köse: “Kiraç to Represent Turkey in Eurovision”

  Turkey – The ex-president of Turkish national broadcaster TRT, Erol Köse, claims in a recent tweet that  the rock musician will represent Turkey in Baku. Kiraç, aka Ali Tufan Kıraç (born 17 June 1972 in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey),  is known as a composer and performing artist. He has released over 10 albums and has contributed to movie soundtracks and other artist’s albums. (more…)

  Turkey – The Turkish newspaper “Expres Haber” reports on its twitter account that Hadise, the Turkish representative of 2009 will represent the country again in 2012. According to the tweet, the announcement will be made this Monday.   Turkey – Deniz Çakmakoğlu, the Turkish broadcaster TRT’s director of entertainment has told Turkish newspaper Bugün that the representative of Turkey at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest will be made public on January 15. Negotiations are still under way, he confirmed. Hande Yener who has already expressed her interest and Atiye Deniz who according to a poll of a public TV station is the Turkish public’s favourite are still considered the frontrunners for the Turkish ticket (more…)

Turkey: Atiye Deniz Favourite of Turks

  Turkey – According to a poll by Turkish television channel KRAL TV, Atiye Deniz is the top favourite of the Turkish public to represent the country at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in neighbouring Azerbaijan. With 31% of the more than 50.000 votes, she grapped first place. Murat Boz, who has already announced via his twitter account that he has no intent of participating comes second nevertheless with 28% of the vote. Very closely behind with 27%, Hande Yener comes third, while Emre Aydin (8%) and Sagopa Kajmer (6%) come fourth and fifth respectively. (more…)

  Turkey – The rumor mill in Turkey gets moving again! Popular singer Hande Yener told a radio station that she is very interested in representing her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku. As Turkish newspaper Sabah reports, she was stopping at the radio station to promote her new album Tesekkurler. During the interview, she also criticized artists who say that Eurovision is not important and stated that she thinks exactly the opposite. (more…)

Turkey – As EscXtra.com reports, several Turkish media speculate about a short list the Turkish national broadcaster TRT is supposed to have made for their selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. The names on the short list include well-known pop singers Atiye Deniz, Hande Yener and Murat Boz. Rumors last year also speculated about a participation of Deniz, that never came to be.  Eurovision 2011 – Today the official Eurovision site’s YouTube channel has uploaded the official preview videos of the Greek, Estonian and Turkish entries. Unfortunately Estonia and Turkey did not put  a lot of effort in their videos as they are simply performances from the national finals. Turkey - The Turkish national broadcaster TRT has present the song Yüksek Sadakat will sing in Düsseldorf during a news bulletin. The song is called “Live It Up”. The Istanbul based rock band “Yüksek Sadakat” is quite popular in Turkey since 2005. Apparently TRT wants to repeat MaNgas success in Oslo by sending another rock act, the fouth one the past ten years after the 4th place by Athena in 2004, “Deli” finished 7th in 2008 and Manga were Lena’s runner-up last edition. Turkey – At a press conference in Istanbul the internally selected Turkish Eurovision representatives “Yüksek Sadakat” have announced more details about their participation. They confirmed that their song will definately be in English. Next week they will submit 3 songs to the Turkish national broadcaster TRT, where an internal jury will choose the song for Düsseldorf.This is the fifth year that the Turkish entry is chosen this way. Yüksek Sadakat: ‘Too old to play games’

Turkey – Yüksek Sadakat were announced to be Turkey’s 2011 Eurovision representatives on New Year’s eve. A great number of Eurovision fans are not happy with that choice and there are already facebook-groups that call for TRT to change its decision. There are rumors saying that TRT even had an emergency meeting about this. While I think it is pretty improbable that the broadcaster will revise their decision, the outrage of Turkish Eurofans is unprecedented. Turkey – The Turkish national broadcaster TRT surprised everyone today by announcing that the Istanbul based band “Yüksek Sadakat” will represent Turkey in Düsseldorf next May. The rock-band is quite popular in Turkey since 2005. Apparently TRT wants to repeat MaNgas success in Oslo by sending another rock act. The band consists of Kenan Vural, Serkan Özgenm, Kutlu Özmakinaci, Uğur Onatkut and Alpay Şalt. The song will be revealed at a later date. See some of their previous singles: (more…)

More Atiye Deniz rumors

Turkey – After Azeri national television Ictimai TV and several other Azeri media reported about a month ago that Atiye Deniz would represent Turkey in Düsseldorf, several local Turkish media now report the same. Furthermore Atiye is managed by the same people who are behind Hadise, who represented Turkey in 2009. Obviously TRT has not confirmed anything. This time with news from Germany, Malta, FYR Macedonia and Turkey

Turkey – eurovision.tv reports tonight, that the Turkish public broadcaster TRT will decide on their Eurovision entrant in January, putting an end to countless specultations. According to rumors Atiye Deniz or Tarkan have already been asked to represent Turkey in Düsseldorf. TRT will stick to the method to select their entry internally, which was quite succesful in recent years.

FYR Macedonia – The Macedonian national final “Skopje 2011″ will be held in February and will probably consist of only one show. Submissions may already be sent to national broadcaster MKRTV. The artists and composers have to be citizens of Macedonia. The exact date of the national final is unknown yet. (more…)
