Eurovision in Concert – The three latest acts to confirm their attendance at the Eurovision In Concert event in Amsterdam on April 13th are PeR of Latvia, Cezar of Romania and Valentina Monetta of San Marino. San Marino - The song that Valentina Monetta will sing in Malmö will be premiered tomorrow, Friday 15th March, at 20.25 (CET). San Marino – SMTV has revealed in a press release thsi evening that the song that Valentina Monetta will sing in Malmö will be premiered on March 15th. The song, written by Ralph Siegel and lyrics by Mauro Balestri, is called ‘Crisalide’ (Chrisalis). Valentina is hoping to do better than last year when she failed to qualify for the final with ‘The Social Network Song(oh-oh-uh-oh-oh)’.

San Marino – Valentina Monetta is back for more in Malmo! Today it was announced that Valentina would, for the second year running, be the representative of San Marino. The song will be Crisalide, (Chrysalis) and is composed once again by Ralph Siegel. Valentina was a bundle of fun last year and it will be interesting to see if she tries her more usual style of jazz/soul this year after last year’s novelty song fell flat.
San Marino – The San Marinese Eurovision broadcaster SMTV is facing severe financial cuts as the Italian national broadcaster RAI has to reduce spending. Italy is going through a severe economical crisis at the moment and has to lower its expenses everywhere. Now it is the national broadcaster’s turn to contribute with a reduction in costs. Eurovision 2012 – Another day’s rehearsals have taken place at the Crystal Hall and reports coming through from Baku say the Russian grannies put on a good first performance, and Ireland had a nice fountain. Israel, San Marino, Cyprus, Hungary, Denmark, Austria and Moldova have also rehearsed. Pasha for Moldova got a bit racy. (more…)
San Marino: The Social Network Song Replaces Facebook

San Marino -After the original entry ‘Facebook‘ was disqualified for giving out a commercial message, San Marino have tonight revealed the amended version. It is now called ‘The Social Network Song – oh oh-uh-oh oh‘ and has had the offending lyrics changed. An amended video has also been produced. The song will be sung by Valentina Monetta in Baku. San Marino – Reference Group Says Facebook Breaks Rules

San Marino – After much speculation, Valentina Monetta has just confirmed (ironically) on her Facebook page that the EBU Reference Group has decided that her song about Facebook breaks the rules. The Directorate Generale of SMTV has stated that the inclusion in the text of the word “Facebook” was found to contravene the rule 1.2.2.g Eurovision Song Contest 2012. (more…)
San Marino – The entry for San Marino has been released and has immediately perplexed Eurovision fans over whether it meets the rules. Valentina Monetta premiered her song ‘Facebook, Uh, Oh, Oh‘ today, which refers to the popular social network site. The EBU rules state the following: “No commercial messages of any kind shall be allowed. A breach of this rule may result in disqualification”. (more…)
San Marino – The EBU has not published the official list of countries in the Eurovision 2012 yet, but most of last year’s participants have already confirmed their participation in Baku. The latest confirmation comes from SMTV, the channel responsible for San Marino. The country’s participation at the contest is a done deal. San Marino – The San Marinese national broadcaster has told esctoday.com that they intend to send an act to the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. This would mark the microstates’ third participation in Europe’s favourite television show. SMTV has not yet confirmed their participation officially, but it seems that this is will only be a formality. San Marino debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the band “Miodio” and returned in Düsseldorf after two years of absence with Senit. (more…)

San Marino – As the German Eurovision blog eurofire reports today, the San Marinese broadcaster, contrary to reports of other websites, has not taken a decision concerning their participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, yet. The head of the San Marinese delegation Alessandro Capicchioni told the blog, that no final decision has been taken: “Nothing is decided as of now! We will circulate a press release once the question has been discussed and a decision has been reached within the channel.” (more…)

San Marino: Senit To Sing “Stand By” at Eurovision

Eurovision – Tonight, San Marino has revealed its Eurovision entry in a special 15-minute television show. The Italian singer Senit had previously been selected to represent the microstate. “Stand By” is a slow ballad which to the surprise of some is entirely performed in English. San Marino – SMRTV has already disclosed that Senit will represent the microstate San Marino at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf. According to ESCIreland Senit is currently preparing two songs. An internal jury at the SanMarinese broadcaster will chose Senit’s entry. Apparently she has prepared a dancable up-tempo song with is 90% in Italian and has an English chorous and a ballad in the style of Maria-Haukaas Storeng’s entry in 2008, which will be 50% in English and 50% in Italian. San Marino – RMTV has just confirmed that Senit will represent the microstate San Marino at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf. The goal of the Sanmarinese broadcaster is for the entry to hit the European charts. “A cosmopolitan artist together with an international production team who will assure that the tiny Republic will meet the standards required by the contest,” SMRTV explained. San Marino – A website under maintenance and a facebook post have brought me to the conclusion that the Italian singer “Senit” will represent the microstate San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf. The website shows “Website maintenance“ and has “Senit | San Marino | Eurovision 2011” as its tab caption. Furthermore, the singer posted this on her facebook wall: “Always ready for a new adventure”. Senit (31) has Eritrean origins and was born and raised in Bologna. She started her career abroad tough. In musicals like Fame, Lion King and Hair she performed in Switzerland and Germany. Eurovision 2011 – This year there were more rumors and speculations about possible returns, debuts and withdrawals than in any other year. There were also more (predominantly positive) surprises concerning the list of participating nations. In total 42 countries (nothing official yet) will compete for the ‘Grand Prix’ in Düsseldorf next May. Hungary – eschungary.hu reports that the Hungarian national broadcaster MTV will reveal this Monday whether they will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. MTV had withdrawn from the contest due to financial difficulties. This lead to another Hungarian television channel, DunaTV, to apply for EBU membership to send an entry to Düsseldorf. Their application was denied tough and now MTV is likely to make a return. Hungary would be the 42nd country to confirm participation. (more…)

San Marino – Great news from the Apennine peninsula! After Italy’s return after 13 years of absence, their “little brother” San Marino will also return to the Eurovision Song Contest next year. “I can confirm that San Marino will take part in ESC 2011,″ Alessandro Capicchioni, who the Head of Delegation for the SanMarinese broadcaster in Belgrade, told ESCDaily. 2o11 will be San Marino’s second appearance on the Eurovision stage. San Marino – More good news about the participants in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf. According to ESCkz.com San Marino’s national broadcaster RTV has submitted a preliminary application for participation to the EBU. No final decision has been taken on their participation in the show as of yet. Applications can still be withdrawn without punishment until December 25. San Marino – Giovanni Di Stefano the Chairman and CEO of a new record company announced today that his record label wants to sponsor a festival in San Marino to find new talent to enter in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. Di Stefano also revealed that his record label will be holding the “International Music Awards” in the Republic of San Marino this year. “I have a lot of faith in Carmen Lasorella and the whole crew at San Marino TV and just because they are a small station does and will not ever exclude them from participating in (more…)
