Cezar-OuatuRomania - Today’s featured artist is Cezar Florin Ouatu, better known simply as Cezar, of Romania. Cezar was born 22 March 1982 and is a Romanian opera singer: a countertenor. In the 2003 International Singing Contest Francisco Viñas, he won the “Best Countertenor” prize and has sung at several European opera houses. since then. (more…)

eurovision in concert 2012Eurovision in Concert – The three latest acts to confirm their attendance at the Eurovision In Concert event in Amsterdam on April 13th are PeR of Latvia, Cezar of Romania and Valentina Monetta of San Marino. More information and tickets can be found here. So far 20 acts have confirmed that they will be performing at the event.

Romania – Tonight it was decided that Cezar is to represent Romania in Malmo with his song “It’s My Life”. In a two hour final against Casa Presei, FreeStay, Luminița Anghel, Electric Fence, Tudor Turcu, Narcis Iustin Ianău, Cârstea Muttart, Anton, Cristian Prăjescu, Al Mike feat. Renee Santana and Andrei Leonte. Cezar won the right to sing at Malmo where he will perform in the 2nd Semi on May 16th.

Their national Selecția Națională 2013 final takes place at 20.00 (CET) and you can watch it live on Eurovision.tv. 12 acts have made it to the final which will be held in Bucharest. romaniaRomania – Semi-finals are back! TVR has announced the timetable and process for selecting this year’s Romanian entry for ESC 2013.There will be two semi finals on 23rd and 24th of February, followed by the national final of ‘Selecţia Naţională‘ on 9th March. Acts will have to audition live in front of regional juries for a chance to be picked for the semi-finals. (more…)

Romania: Mandinga Win Ticket to Baku

Romania – After a lengthy national final in Bucharest, Mandinga have been selected to represent their country in Baku. The song that they will perform is called “Zaleilah” (sung partly in Spanish) and is a typical ‘summer hit’. Mandinga beat 15 other acts in the  Selecţia Naţională 2012 final, which took 3 hours. They will participate in semi-final 1 on 22nd May in Baku. (more…)

Eurovision 2012 – Tonight is a Super Saturday for Eurovision fans with Sweden, Romania and Portugal all choosing their songs in exciting national finals, and Serbia will also preview their song tonight. It all starts at 20.00 (CET) with the legendary Melodiofesivalen live from Globen in Stockholm, as Sweden chooses this year’s representative. Loreen is clear favourite to win there. (more…)

Romania – Ireland’s representatives for Baku, Jedward, have tonight confirmed they will be performing on Saturday’s national final in Romania. 15 acts will battle it out to be Romania’s representative in semi-final 1 on 22nd May 2012 in the Crystal Hall. Romanian broadcaster TVR will be streaming backstage footage as well as the main show on the evening. The main stream can be viewed on eurovision.tv at 20.00 CET on March 10th.

Romania: Participation a Sure Thing?

  Romania - Two days ago ESCToday reported that the Romanian national broadcaster TVR would hold a special meeting to decide upon the Romanian participation in Baku. Now, Alexandru Lazescu, president of TVR, has given the all-clear. According to him the Romanian participation is a sure thing.   Romania – ESCToday report tonight, that the Romanian participation will be discussed tonight in a special meeting of the national broadcaster. Apparently, the broadcaster has serious financial problems and thus does not know whether they can stem the costs a Eurovision participation entails. Apparently there were talks with superstar Inna to represent Romania in Eurovision, but she refused. Stay tuned for more information! (more…)

Mălina Olinescu (1998) Commits Suicide

theonlinecitizen.com  Romania – Romanian news website punkto.ro reports that Mălina Olinescu, Romanian Eurovision representative in 1998, has committed suicide this night. Neighbours found her body in front of the high-rise building in which she lived. Apparently, Olinescu has plunged to her death due to love sickness. The doctors tried to reanimate her for half an hour, but at no avail. Olinescu’s half-brother said that she had threatened to kill herself several times in the past. (more…)

Preview Videos - Currently the preview videos of the 43 Eurovision entries are starting to pour in and are presented on the official YouTube channel of eurovision.tv Today we have the Finnish, Romanian, Spanish and Georgian preview videos for you to enjoy. Furthermore Serbia has published an English version of their entry called “Magical”. It has been confirmed however, that Serbia will perform the entire entry in its national language. (more…)

Chiara and Niamh Kavanagh meet the press

Romania - They both were judges on the Romanian national final and helped choose Hotel FM as the Romanian representative. A day before the final Niamh Kavanagh (Ireland 1993, 2010) and Chiara (Malta 1998, 2004, 2009) took some time to talk to the press. They talked about leaving their families alone on New Years Eve, their new musical projects, the change of the Eurovision Song Contest and the Romanian national final. Romania 2011: Hotel FM to Düsseldorf

Romania – Last year (haha get the joke? ;) ) Romania selected Hotel FM with their song “Change” as their representative for Düsseldorf in May. The show was hosted by last year’s Romanian participants Paula and Ovi and 13 songs competed for the right to represent Romania. The final outcome was decided 50% by a jury and 50% by televote. Part of the jury were Eurovision winners Johnny Logan and Niamh Kavanagh as well as 3-time Maltese participant Chiara. Although Hotel FM did not win the televote, the jury favoured them and thus they won the competition. Here you can see the full result: (more…)

Tonight: The Romanian national final

Romania – Tonight the Romanian national final “Selectia nationala 2011″ will be held in Bukarest. A total of 13 songs will compete for the right to represent Romania in Düsseldorf next May. The show will he hosted by Paula Selig and Ovi, who represented Romania this year in Oslo and reached the best result ever for their country (3rd place). The jury which will have a 50% stake in the final outcome includes Eurovision winners Niamh Kavanagh and Johnny Logan as well as three-time Maltese participant Chiara. Selectia Nationala: Videos of the finalists

Romania - The Romanian public broadcaster TVR has now published promotion videos of all 13 finalists on their website. After Switzerland and Albania, Romania will be the third country to select their Eurovision participant on December 31. The national final will be part of the entertainment programmes for the New Year’s celebrations. Netherlands – The 3Js have written another 3 songs during arecent stay in France. They now have a selection of 7 songs for the national final. Only 5 will be used for the televised national final tough. Jaap Kwakmann has confirmed that the 5 songs will probably be in Dutch. “It is very hard to decide which 2 songs not to choose, but it’s better to have two to much than 2 less than needed. Romania – Romanian broadcaster has revealed the 13 finalists of the Romanian national final at a press conference today. Only 77 artists had initially submitted songs so there wasn’t much to choose from for the internal jury. These numbers represent a sharp fall of submissions compared to last year. The “Selectia Nationala” will be held on New Years Eve and will be hosted by this year’s Romanian representatives Ovi and Paula Selig. Here is the list of finalists: (more…)

Romania – While in some European countries we notice a spike in popularity of the Eurovision Song Contest (Austria, Switzerland) other countries seem to be less intrigued this year.In Albania the number of submissions stays quite low for the Festival i Kenges and now the Romanian numbers seem even more morose. Romania – The Romanian national broadcaster has announced November 15, 2010 to be the date they will reveal the complete line-up of the Romanian national final, to be held on New Year’s Eve! Dynamic duo to host Romanian selection

Romania -The artists competing in this year’s Romanian final have not been revealed, but we can be sure to see two familiar faces on December 31! Paula Selig and Ovi, who brought Romania a third place in Oslo this year with “Playing with fire” will host the “Selectia Nationala”.
