India – Bad news from Asia: The Asia-Pacific Song Contest, alias “Our sound” has been postponed yet again until further notice. The contest, a spin-off of the Eurovision Song Contest, was supposed to be held in Mumbai, India this fall. Through the website of the contest, Australian singers had already been asked to send in their propositions and songs to represent their country. Now all that can be found on the website is the notice “Coming soon…”. Although the contest is still planned to be held and the host city is still supposed to be Mumbai in India the dates are unknown. (more…)

Australia – The first Asia-Pacific Song Contest in Mumbai is approaching and the official website of the contest has now called for Austalian’s to submit songs for Australia’s National selection. This is an official confirmation that Australia will have an open selection! (as opposed to Cambodia) Anyone can send their original song with a video to the official site. The video does not have to be professional. If the singer makes the shortlist, they may submit a new video. This means that amateurs and professionals may participate. (more…)

There’s a new event that will ease the painful process of waiting for the next ESC a little for Eurovision fans: The Asia-Pacific Song Contest “Our Sound”. The competition is a spin-off of the over 55 year-old Eurovision Song Contest and will take place in Mumbai, India this year. There will be a “Performance show” on November 24th where the 13 countries participating will present their songs and a “Winner show” on November 26th with the voting in Eurovision-style (12,10,8… points). In between these shows the public will have the chance to choose the first winner through SMS and Internet voting.
