Norway: Plumbo The Hot Favourites in Melodi Grand Prix

Norway: Snippets of Three Melodi Grand Prix Songs and a Scandal

  Norway – The first semi-final of the Norwegian national selection “Melodi Grand Prix” will be held next Saturday. Snippets of three entries have now appeared on amazon.com. The entire Melodi Grand Prix CD with all competitors will be released this Monday. You can already listen to High On Love by Reidun, Don’t Touch The Flame by Carburetos and Ola Nordman by Plumbo. Norway: The Full Melodi Grand Prix Line-Up

  Norway – Today, the Norwegian national broadcaster NRK revealed the last three of the Melodi Grand Prix 2012 participants. Tommy Fredvang and Rikke Lie from the Norwegian version of X-Factor and the lead singer of Sie Gubba, Petter Øien will thus compete with 21 other acts for the honor to fly the Norwegian flag in Baku next May.The Heats will be held on January 21 and 28 and February 4 2012; with the national final on February 11. Norway: The Canoes and Hanne Sørvaag Collaborate

  Norway – The Norwegian national broadcaster NRK continues to publish the participants of the Norwegian national final “Melodi Grand Prix” little by little. The next participants revealed are the Norwegian-American band “The Canoes”. The band was founded after the 4 members had met during a canoe trip (hence the name).

Their song will be composed by Hanne Sørvaag, who competed in last year’s Melodi Grand Prix (more…)

Norway: 11 Acts Known So Far

Norway – Norwegian broadcaster NRK continues releasing one or two new participants regularly for their national final Melodi Grand Prix, instead of releasing them all at once.

NRK announced today that the duo Yaseen Asher & Julie Maria Dahl are among the participants. The duo previously took part in MGP Junior 2010. One of the other confirmed participants for MGP 2012 is Malin Reitan, who took part in MGP Junior 2005 and went on to end up in 3rd place at (more…)

  Norway – The Norwegian national broadcaster NRK has revealed two more artists that will compete in the 2012 edition of Melodi Grand Prix. Rudi Myntevik used to release Christian music such as his album “Gud din skjønnhet” but since he moved to London in 2008 he has focused on a more pop-style of music. Kim André Rysstad to Participate In MGP!

  Norway – Today it has been confirmed that Kim André Rysstad will participate in the Norwegian national final, MGP.  Kim André Rysstad is a widely known folk musician and is very popular in his home country. Today he confirmed his participation in Melodi Grand Prix 2012 saying to NRK “my song is a kind of show, and hymn inspired. It is beautiful, reverent and quiet, with a lyrical Norwegian text. Norway – The Norwegian televoters have selected Stella Mwangi to represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf with her song “Haba Haba”. The Lucky Bullets, Sie Gubba, the Blacksheeps and Stella Mwangi had qualified to the super final earlier in the evening. Stella won the final of “Melodi Grand Prix 2011″ with 280.217 votes! Norway – The Norwegian selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 will come to an end this Saturday. 8 artists will be vying to represent the 201o host country in Germany. According to the bookies, the big favourite to get the ticket to Düsseldorf is Stella Mwangi and her song “Haba haba” with an African feel to it. Ratings in Norway and Finland

Finland – The first semi-final of Euroviisut 2011 which was held last Friday was the most watched television program that day in Finland. 634.000 people watched the show. Merete Manninen promised changes for 2012: “We are not going to try to reach the Swedish niveau of excitement, but we would like to make Eurovision a bigger brand for YLE. We are already exploring the possibility of a  new system to select our song and a new look for the 2012 selection” (more…)

This time with news from Ireland, Azerbaijan and Norway

Ireland - Don Mescall has been confirmed to be the 4th artist competing in the Irish national final. The Jedward twins, the Vard Sisters and Nikki Kavanagh had already been confirmed earlier. This will be Mescall’s third try to represent his country

Azerbaijan – The last stage before the grand national final in the Caucasian nation has started on Monday. 10 acts were supposed to compete and 5 are going to qualify for the final. Nikola Barkley, the Scottish singer who got into the next round thanks to the jury had to withdraw due to an illness she got celebrating New Year’s in her home in (more…)

Alexander Rybak to return to Eurovision?

Belarus – Norwegian tabloid vg.no reports that the 2009 winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, Alexander Rybak, may return to Europe’s most favourite TV-show in the near future. When I first read this I though about a duet between Lena and Rybak for the German national selection (Rybak had said earlier this year that his biggest wish was to write a song for the German Eurovision winner). Melodi Grand Prix: 9 names confirmed

Norway – Norwegian national broadcaster NRK has revealed 9 of the participants of their national final “Melodi Grand Prix 2011″. Seven of the artists will perform in the first semi-final in Ørland and the other two in the second semi-final in Florø.
