MaltaMalta – The national broadcaster has today published photographs of this year’s Maltese Representative, Gianluca Bezzina, taking part in a blood donation drive. The drive was organised by PBS, the team of Xarabank and the Blood Transfusion Service Centre. Gianluca was also joined on the campaign today by politicians, VIPs and last year’s Maltese entrant, Kurt Kajella. (more…)

MaltaMalta – The official video of ‘Tomorrow‘ by Gianluca Bezzina has also been released today.  Bezzina is apparently a practicing surgeon but will be representing his country in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Malta will perform in the first half of the second semi-final in Malmö on May 16th. (more…)

Half way through the live show in Malta, an article claiming Amber was the winner appeared on the official Eurovision website. Malta: 16 Finalists Chosen!

MaltaMalta – In the semi-final held tonight in Malta, 16 out of 24 songs went through to tomorrow’s final. In a lengthy show of 5 hours,with many advert breaks, the televoters and international jury eventually decided on the top 16 songs to proceed to the final which will be streamed live tomorrow night. MaltaMalta – Tomorrow sees the semi-final in Malta. 24 songs will battle it out for 16 places in the final, which will take place on Saturday night. The International jury will consist of delegates from Armenia, Belarus, Ukraine, Croatia, Albania and Italy. Malta: Semi-Final Running Order

MaltaMalta – Maltese broadcaster PBS has released the official running order of their national semi-final of MESC. A total of 24 songs will battle it out on 1st February for 16 places in the final, which will take place the next day. The qualifiers will be chosen through a combination of jury and televote. There will be a live stream on TVM online by visiting  tvm.com.mt/live.

MaltaMalta - At the end of November, the Maltese broadcaster PBS had revealed in a live show the 24 songs out of 182 recieved and 69 who made it after the preliminary round that went forward to the third stage of selection, the live semi-final to be held on February 1st (the final will be held the next day). MaltaMaltaKurt Cajella has told Eurovision fans and press to meet him tonight in Baku for a ‘surprise’! Kurt has got everyone wondering what he’ll be doing, but anyone who is in Baku should go along to outside of McDonalds at Fountain Square at 18.00 Baku time tonight. Kurt says to everyone to bring a camera. Intriguing!

Eurovision 2012 – The afternoon’s rehearsals saw semifinal 2 acts take to the Crystal Hall stage for the second time. Malta: ‘This Is The Night’ Video Online

Malta – The official video clip was released yesterday of Malta’s Kurt Calleja singing ‘This Is The Night‘. Details of the filming revealed that two locations were used, (the Chicago Suite at the Radission Blu Resort and Spa, Golden Sands and the car park of St.Lukes Hospital in Pieta ) and over 60 dancers were involved in the video shoot. Malta: Kurt Calleja Chosen for Baku

  Malta – After a very close finish, last night’s Maltese national final saw Kurt Calleja chosen to represent Malta in Baku with the song “This is the Night“. Claudia Faniello’s song “Pure” was only a few points behind going into the final round of voting. Either songs could have won in a nailbiting finish after a national final lasting almost 4 hours! Kurt Calleja will perform for Malta in the first half of the Second Semi-Final  in Baku, Azerbaijan. (more…)

  Malta – In exactly one month the semi-final of the Maltese national final will be held. 24 artists will compete for 16 places in the national final which will be held one day later, on February 4. Among the participants is Fabrizio Faniello who represented Malta in 2001 and 2006. Many other artists return to the Malta Song For Europe stage. Malta: Full Versions of 24 Songs Released

  Malta – The Maltese broadcaster TVM has released the full versions of all 24 songs taking part in Malta Song For Europe 2012, after releasing 1-minute demo versions of each songs earlier. Just like last year, the Maltese national final will be spread over two nights: Friday January 27 all 24 songs will compete in the semi-final and 16 will qualify to the final. The final will be held the following day, Saturday January 28. During the show, the finalists will perform their songs again.   Malta – Last night the twenty-four semi-finalists of the Maltese national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 were revealed and 1-minute snippets of the songs were aired on Maltese television. The semi-final will be held on February 3, 2012 followed by the national final with 16 participants the next day. Malta: 62 Entries Advance to Second Stage

  Malta – The Maltese national broadcaster TVM (PBS) has revealed the 62 entries that advanced to the second round of the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. A total of 161 songs had been submitted. The 62 lucky qualifiers were selected by a jury that listened to the entries on a CD. Now the songs have to be performed live in front of the jury which will then select 24 songs to move on to the semi-final stage of the competition. Malta: “Glen Vella – One Life” to Eurovision

Malta – Malta has chosen the song that will represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. Glen Vella and his song “One life” will represent Malta in Düsseldorf. In the final phase the winning song was chosen through 60% expert jury and 40% public vote. The televoters favoured one life. Then each of the jurors could give points in Eurovision style. Before the last juror the songs One life and Finally had the same amount of points. The last juror attributed 10 points to Finally and 12 to One life making it thus the Maltese entry for Eurovision. Malta - The preliminary round was held in Malta yesterday and a total of 16 entries qualified for the big final to be held today! In the final phase the winning song will be chosen through 60% expert jury and 40% public vote. 2-time Eurovision participant Fabrizio Faniello qualified for the final. The song Ralph Siegel had originally written for Lena and then entered into the Maltese selection did obviously not impress the Maltese as it did not qualify. Malta – Tonight PBS will air the preliminary round of the Maltese national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. A total of 24 songs will be presented to the Maltese public. However, only 16 songs will qualify for the final tomorrow. A mixture of jury and televote will decide who will qualify. As usual there are many returnees among the competitors. Bulgaria – The Bulgarian national broadcaster BNT has announced the submission deadline for their selection process. The call for songs ends February 9, just 13 days before the national final. Artists and composers may send their entries in form of a CD or DVD to BNT in Sofia.

Israel – Leading up to its national final “Kdam 2011″ the Israeli broadcaster Channel 1 will air four documentaries concerning connections between Eurovision and political events in each decade of Israeli history. The first documentary, for example, will focus on the two Israeli wins in Eurovision and other important wins (more…)

Malta/Germany – He has written 18 songs that made it to final of the Eurovision Song Contest and in Germany his nickname is thus “Mr. Eurovision”: Ralph Siegel. He has recently revealed that his song “I’ll follow the sunshine” which he entered into the Maltese selection this year, had originally been written for Lena. Malta - The Maltese national broadcaster PBS has now published the 20 songs vying to represent the Mediterranean island in Düsseldorf. You can listen to the songs on the official website for the 2011 Maltese selection. The national final will be held on February 12. Among the participants is 2-time Eurovision entrant Fabrizio Faniello, as well as the German composer duo Bernd Meinunger and “Mr. Grand Prix” Ralph Siegel, who wrote one of the songs. Malta – PBS, the Maltese national broadcaster has just announced the 24 songs which will participate in “Malta Eurovision Festival 2011″. As usual there are many returnees among the competitors. The most well-known one is probably 2-time Eurovision participant Fabrizio Faniello, who represented his country in 2001 and 2006 (so 2o11 seems logic does it not?). Romania - They both were judges on the Romanian national final and helped choose Hotel FM as the Romanian representative. A day before the final Niamh Kavanagh (Ireland 1993, 2010) and Chiara (Malta 1998, 2004, 2009) took some time to talk to the press. They talked about leaving their families alone on New Years Eve, their new musical projects, the change of the Eurovision Song Contest and the Romanian national final. Malta – PBS, the Maltese national broadcaster has announced the date of next year’s national final for the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf. The Mediterranean island will select their entry on February 12. PBS received 141 songs from which 24 semi-finalists were chosen. The semi-final will take place one day before the final and 16 songs will qualify.

Estonia – ERR announced that Janne Saar has been disqualified from the Estonian national final for Eurovision 2011. The song “Meeting The Wolf” breached the rules as it was released before September 1. The singer is replaced by Tiiu Kiik and the song with a quite suiting title (more…)
