EstoniaEstonian Party – Today’s events at the Eurovision Village kicked off with The Estonian Party! Hundreds of Estonians were out in force waving their flags to see Ott Lepland (2012) and Tanel Padar (Winner 2001) perform together in a band alongside this year’s entrant Birgit, and neighbours PeR of Latvia. 9029_grupa_per_8_jpgLatvia – After three failed attempts at reaching the Eurovision Song Contest, Pop duo PeR have made it fourth time lucky by finally making it past the Latvian National Selection and will be the Latvian representative in Malmo at Eurovision 2013. PeR (which stands for Please Explain the Rythym) consists of members Ralfs Eilands and Edmunds Rasmanis and they are today’s spotlight act. (more…)

eurovision in concert 2012Eurovision in Concert – The three latest acts to confirm their attendance at the Eurovision In Concert event in Amsterdam on April 13th are PeR of Latvia, Cezar of Romania and Valentina Monetta of San Marino. More information and tickets can be found here. So far 20 acts have confirmed that they will be performing at the event.

Latvia: It’s PeR to Malmo

Latvia – The country has decided and they have chosen PeR to represent them in Malmo for Eurovision 2013 with the song “Here We Go”. A total of twelve acts competed to fly the Latvian flag in Sweden with three reaching the Super Final. Joining PeR were Samanta Tina with “I Need A Hero” and Marta Ritova and with “I Am Who I Am”. LatviaLatvia – The second semi-final has just finished in Riga, and 6 more acts have been lucky enough to go through to next week’s final. They were Ieva Sutugova, Dāvids Kalandija & Dināra, PeR, Marta Ritova, Niko and Pieneņu Vīns. The national Dziesma 2013 final takes place in Ventspils on Saturday 16th of February. LatviaLatvia – Tonight sees the second Dziesma 2013 semi-final taking place between 20:25 (CET) and 22:40 (CET) in the Palladium Concert Hall in Riga. LatviaLatviaDziesma 2013 kicks off tonight as 12 songs battle it out for a place in Latvia’s national final. Six songs will go through to this final. This will be decided by 50/50 jury (9 music experts) and televote. The show starts at 20:15 (CET) and can be watched here. Listen to all the songs here. LatviaLatvia – 24 acts have today been announced by LVT for this year’s national selection, Dziesma 2013, including a few names Eurovision fans will recognise from previous years. The 24 acts were chosen from 122 entries, with foreign composers allowed to submit songs. They will battle it out in two live semi-finals taking place on the 8th and 9th February. Latvia - The 2013 Latvian national final, called Piecel Kajas Eirupo (Stand up Europe), but also still known under its original name Dziesma, has now confirmed the 24 semi finalists which will be participating. LatviaLatvia – LVT has indeed decided to run a new selection process this year, replacing the old Eirodzeisma format. They today announced a new 3 show event, with the theme of “Stand Up, Europe!” with a standing audience. LVT also revealed that they had a record 122 songs submitted including 40 compositions from countries such as Sweden, Denmark, the UK and the USA. 24 finalists and the title of the show will be announced next week.

Latvia – Goodbye Eirodzeisma… hello ??? Latvia’s Head Delegation, Zita Kaminska, today announced that there would be a new process for this year’s selection of the Latvian representative for Malmö 2013, and also suggested that there could be a name change for the national selection contest.   Junior Eurovision – May the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2011 have been the last of its sort? It seems more and more likely that the 2012 edition will not be able to be held as more and more countries announce their disinterest in the format.The crisis may well end in the cancellation of Junior Eurovision 2012. Eurovision 2012 – Three more acts have completed their rehearsals at the Crystal Hall in Baku. We have now had our first sighting of the routines for Iceland, Greece and Latvia. Iceland were very polished and professional.  The special 3D video effects in the background of the acts this year is stunning. Check out videos of the rehearsals. (more…)

Latvia: Anmary Arrives in Baku

LatviaLatviaAnmary and the Latvian delegation have arrived in Baku. Upon arrival Anmary and her backing singers gave an impromptu rendition of an Azerbaijan folk song ‘Sari Gelin‘. You can watch it here. Montenegro and Belgium have also already landed in Azerbaijan and Ireland’s Jedward are expected in three hours time.

Latvia: Five More Acts for Final

  Latvia – The second semi-final for this year’s “Eirodziesma” was concluded tonight in Latvia. 5 successful acts went through to join last week’s 5 acts in the final, which will be held next month. 10 songs took part this evening, hosted by Kristīne Virsnīte and Valters Frīdenbergs. After last week’s zany performances, including Paula Dukure dressed as a huge cake, this week was not boring either. One of the favourites was Mad Show Boys, who dressed up as one of the Beatles, a Pet Shop Boy, Marilyn Manson, Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode and Mr Lordi! (more…)

Latvia: All Participants of Eirodziesma 2012

  Latvia – The Latvian national broadcaster LTV has revealed the artists that will be participating in the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 “Eirodziesma”. The 20 artists were allocated to two semi-finals from which 5 artists will proceed to the national final to be held on February 18. Apart from PeR, Miks Durkus and Trianas Parks, no artists known to Eurovision fans participate. (more…)

Latvia: Musiqq Release Official Video

Latvia – On this Super Saturday, Latvia was the last country to choose its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. The duo Musiqq will represent the Baltic country in Düsseldorf next May. A total of 12 artists competed for the honor to enter the Eurovision Song Contest for Latvia. Latvia -Tonight Latvia will choose their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. 12 acts qualified through the previously held semi-final of “Eirodziesma 2011″. The final will be held in Ventspils. Three songs will qualify for a super final. Out of these, the Latvian representative will be chosen. The decision will be taken by 60% tele- and 40% juryvotes.
