marcoandriussmEurovision 2013 – It appears that the journey home from Amsterdam did not quite go to plan today for Andrius Pojavis (Lithuania) and Marco Mengoni (Italy), as their plane had to make an emergency landing! Andrius was heading back to Italy on the same plane as Marco, but the KLM flight had to return to Schipol airport and make an emergency landing when smoke appeared in the cabin! (more…)

italyItaly – Italian broadcaster RAI have posted a video online of their representative Marco Mengoni singing an acoustic version of ‘L’essenziale‘. This was performed as part of the national Italian talk show “Che tempo che fa” last night. You can watch it here.

italyItaly – According to esc-time.com, Italian representative Marco Mengoni has had a choice of four songs to choose between to sing in Malmö.  Mengoni was chosen to represent his country by Italian broadcaster RAI after his recent performance in the San Remo festival. spainSpain – In a surprise announcement, the Spanish broadcaster TVE, has decided that the recently chosen 2013 Italian representative, Marco Mengoni, will be on the jury panel of El Sueño De Morfeo- Destino Eurovision which is the 2013 Spanish Eurovision Song Selection show . Italy: San Remo is Underway!

italyItaly – Tonight saw the launch of the renowned San Remo Italian music festival. This music festival, which started in 1951, showcases new songs and several new artists each year and often produces the song that Italy sends to represent it in the Eurovision Song Contest. Italian broadcaster RAI have revealed the televoting percentages in this year’s Italian vote. The results show Romania’s Mandinga easily winning the vote of the Italian public in both the semifinal and the Grand Final. Albania and Moldova came second and third, respectively, on both shows. The Italians disliked Belgium the most in the first semifinal. In the Grand Final, the United Kingdom was least popular. (more…)

Eurovision 2012 – Good morning from sunny Baku! It’s semifinal 1 day but acts that are not involved are busy doing other things in the beautiful city of Baku. The Eurovillage is hosting lots of musical events, and there are DJs and live acts keeping the party going there on the promenade each day until late. Most of the Big 5 will  perform there tomorrow! Italy: Nina Zilli Reveals New Video

ItalyItaly – Also revealed online today by La Gazetta is a new video from Nina Zilla showcasing her entry ‘L’amore è Femmina‘. The video sees Nina change hair colour and dance with several young men. As one of the ‘big five’ Nina wins herself a direct ticket to the Eurovision final in Baku on May 26th. Check out Nina’s new video here.

Italy: Change of Song for Nina Zilli

Italy – Today it was announced by National broadcaster RAI that Nina Zilli will no longer sing “Per Sempre” in Baku. Instead she will sing the title track of her new album, “L’amore è Femmina“, which translates as Love is Female. It is Nina’s second album and has been placed 11th in the Italian album charts.  It is not known yet whether she will sing some of the lyrics in English. (more…)

Italy – After days of speculation, Italy have today confirmed that their representative Nina Zilli will sing ‘Per Sempre’ in Baku. This is the song that helped win her a place in the Eurovision final, but it will be adapted to an ‘international version’. This probably means part of the song will be sung in English.

Italy – The 62nd edition of the Sanremo Festival in Italy is now well underway. Yesterday saw 14 acts go through to tonight’s show…despite the fact 2 should have been eliminated! Technical problems meant the voting could not be counted, and all 14 acts go through. 4 acts will be eliminated tonight instead. (more…)

Italy: 3 Minute Version of “Madness Of Love”"

Italy – During this year’s San Remo Festival, Raphael Gualazzi was chosen as the Italian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest. His song “Follia D’Amore” was translated into “Madness of Love” and will be performed in a bilingual version in Düsseldorf. Now the final version of the Italian entry has been released. Italy – The official preview video of the Italian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 has just been revealed. English lyrics have been added to the song which is now called “Madness Of Love” (original: Follia D’Amore). Raphael Gualazzi frequently switches between Italian and English in this new version. Italy sends “Raphael Gualazzi – Follia D’Amore” to Eurovision

Italy – Raphael Gualazzi who had won the newcomers category of the San Remo Festival yesterday will represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. He will sing the self-penned  jazz song “Follia D’Amore” in Düsseldorf. A jury of 5 RAI officials and politicians chose the song for Italy, but as he won the newcomers’ category he also has the support of the Italian public. Italy Decides – The Final of San Remo

Italy – Tonight Italy will choose its representative for their return to the Eurovision Song Contest after not participating for over 14 years. A special jury will choose one of the participants of the renowned and traditional “SanRemo Festival”. Italy: Eurovision Entry from San Remo

Italy – The Italian national broadcaster held a press conference today to clarify their method for choosing their entry for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. The Italian representative will be chosen from the participants of the renowned “San Remo Festival” which is being held this week.  “The Italian entry will be chosen from the competitors of San Remo,” Mark Simeon, the head of international affairs at RAI said.  That includes both the “Big names” and the Newcomers categories. Italy – eurovision.tv has just revealed that the Italian representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 will be chosen from the participants of the traditional “Sanremo Festival”. An official statement of the national broadcaster RAI explained: “A specific jury will give a special prize to the artist best fit to represent our country in Germany”. This means that it will not necessarily be the winner of the festival who will represent the country. Italy – Massimo Liofredi, the Director of RAIDue talked about Italy’s plans for the Eurovision Song Contest in an interview with the blog of Davide Maggio. Apparently another RAI director asked him what he tought of the Eurovision Song Contest and his answer was quite simple: “I’m all for it”. That is also why he took the job of promoting Eurovision. He revealed that his personal preference would be Marco Mengoni (picture). Italy – After the list of participants for the traditional Sanremo festival 2011 was published featuring the 2010 X-Factor winner Nathalie the Italian plan for Eurovision 2011 is more unclear than ever. The Head of entertainment at RAI had claimed this summer that the winner of X-Factor would not (as in previous years) participate in SanRemo, but could be sent to Eurovision.
