Iceland – Tonight saw Jógvan & Stefanía, Unnur Eggertsdóttir, and Haraldur Reynisson qualify for the Final in Iceland! In a move which pleased many Eurovision fans, Magni Ásgeirsson also went into the final in the wildcard slot. The final takes place next Saturday night 2nd of February. Iceland- Rúv has published its finalists’ songs online today. You can listen to all of the 12 entries of Söngvakeppnin 2013 here. Two semi-finals will take place on 25th and 26th January, with the final to be held on 2nd February at 21.00 CET. There will be a minimum of 6 songs in the final, voted by 50/50 jury and televoters. The top 2 songs will go to the superfinal on the same night. Which do you like best?

Iceland - Today, the Icelandic broadcaster RÚV announced the 12 songs and their respective authors and composers to be performed in Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2013 which will feature two semi-finals to be held in the weekend of the 25th and 26th of January, the final featuring 6 or 7 entries (3 from each semi and 1 possible jury wildcard, depending if the jury feels the need to save an entry) has been moved to February the 2nd. Iceland: Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins Continues in 2013

Iceland – The Icelandic national broadcaster RÚV has confirmed its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö. Furthermore, the channel will choose the Icelandic entry through the national selection Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins once more. It has not been confirmed yet how many rounds will be held and how many singers will participate. In recent years there were three semi-finals with 5 songs each and a final in Reykjavik. (more…)

Eurovision 2012 – Three more acts have completed their rehearsals at the Crystal Hall in Baku. We have now had our first sighting of the routines for Iceland, Greece and Latvia. Iceland – It has been confirmed today that Iceland has changed the language of its entry for this year’s contest. Gréta Mjöll & Jónsi will now sing ‘Never Forget‘ in English, and not Icelandic. Iceland – Gréta Salóme and Jónsi have won the Icelandic ticket to Baku 2012 with the song “Mundu eftir mér“. 7 acts fought it out in the Songvakeppni Sjonvarpsins final in Reykyavik, and the winner was decided by a jury and public vote. It is highly expected that the song may be reworked in English for the Baku finals. Blár Opal came second with “Stattu upp” (more…)

Iceland – Regína Ósk and Simbi & Hrútspungarnir qualified tonight in Iceland’s second semi-final. Regína Ósk previously represented her country in Euroband, with “This Is My Life” in 2008. Iceland – Viewers in Iceland tonight watched 5 songs performed and decided that the two that they wanted to go through to the Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins final on February 11th were Gréta Salóme & Jónsi – “Mundu Eftir Mér” and boyband, Blár Opal – “Stattu Upp“. A combination of jury and televoters decided the outcome. The second semi-final will take place next Saturday night, and the songs for that semi-final will be on the RÚV website from Monday. Iceland: Jónsi Returns to Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins

Iceland – Our friends at escnorge.com report that the Icelandic representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, Jónsi, will participate in next year’s Icelandic national final Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2012. Jónsi will perform a duet with Greta Salome Stefánsdottir, who also wrote the entry. In addition to being a singer and songwriter, she is also a violinist in the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Jónsi told escnorge that their song is an ethno-rock ballad. (more…)
