Their representative this year, Cascada, is a Eurodance act founded in 2004 by singer Natalie Horler, DJ Manian, and Yann Peifer. They are best known for their hit singles ‘Everytime We Touch‘, ‘What Hurts the Most‘, and ‘Evacuate the Dancefloor‘.  They will represent Germany in the Eurovision Final on 18th May. (more…)

GermanyGermany – Cascada’s ‘Glorious‘, the winning song of Unser Song für Malmö, is currently under the spotlight as claims of Plagiarism gather pace. Germany’s NDR  has now “commissioned a musical audit” to examine claims that the song sounds too like ‘Euphoria’ by last year’s winner Loreen. NDR spokeswoman Iris Bents said the station would publish the result of the investigation. GermanyGermany – After an unusually diverse Unser Song für Malmö this evening, Cascada won the ticket to Eurovision 2013! They will now go directly into the final on 18th May, singing ‘Glorious‘.  After the regional radio votes (which were a bit of a farce with every vote practically the same!) La Brass Banda were out in the lead. Cascada however, cleaned up in the televote. Check out the winning song. (more…)

GermanyUnser Song für Malmö finally takes place tomorrow (14th February) from the TUI Arena in Hanover. Unser Song für Malmö will be hosted by Dusseldorf 2011 host Anke Engelke and will air on ARD at 20:15 CET (19:15GMT). The winner will be decided in three stages… The public vote, the Jury vote and also the online voting that has been open since February 7th. (more…)

GermanyGermany - Another week another bunch of National Finals. The first of which will be Germany’s “Unser Star Fur Malmo” which takes place on Thursday February 14th, Valentine’s Day. Twelve acts will compete for the chance to represent their country in Malmo this Thursday. The winner will be chosen in a public vote mixed with the vote of a National Jury.

Germany: More Songs Online

GermanyGermany – More songs have been released by the acts that will be gong head to head in the German final. Cascada, the group who boast the huge European hit ‘Evacuate the Dance Floor‘ premiered their song ‘Glorious‘ today. GermanyGermany – After concerns were raised by Eurovision Ireland about two songs in the German final, one has apparently been changed. Eurovision Ireland had previously reported there were several similarities between Die Priester feat. Mojca Erdmann and their song “Ave Maris Stella“ and several religious songs from the 16th and 19th Centuries. According to Blog.prinze.de  it has now been decided that Die Priester will now change their entry.  (more…)

The list for Unser Song für Malmö which will be held on 14 February contains well known names, and an eclectic mix of music styles with rock and pop going up against church chants and Bavarian brass! Germany - The German broadcaster ARD has confirmed today via Eurovision.tv the launching of their selection program for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Since Lena was chosen via a similar program back in 2010 and ultimately won the contest, the program was continued in a special format featuring only Lena, as the winner was defending her title on homesoil, then reorganized for Baku where it ended in selecting a third Top 10 entry in a row. Germany: Preview of Lena’s New Single “Stardust”

  Germany -  The winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, Lena Meyer-Landrut will release a new album called “Stardust” this October. The first single off the album will be “Stardust” and will be released September 21. Other than her first two albums, “Stardust” will not be produced by Lena’s mentor Stefan Raab. Lena wrote many of the songs herself and got help from Swedish songwriters such as Miss Li. Some German journalists already listened to previews of 8 songs (more…)

Condolences: Norbert Berger of Cindy&Bert Dies

  Germany – Norbert Berger alias Bert, the male part of the German schlager duo Cindy&Bert has died at the age of 66. Cindy&Bert represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 in Brighton with the song Sommermelodie and came 14th (and thus shared last). The husband and wife – duo went on to become one of the most successful schlager acts in Germany. Especially their hit Immer Wieder Sonntags has become a (more…)

  Editorial – Before the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 had even come to an end, the German press already speculated about the German selection for the next edition in 2013. Since 2010, the public broadcaster ARD and the private network ProSieben had collaborated in choosing the German entrant through a casting show. This year the ratings were disastrous,though. The German jury votes have been revealed on eurovision.de. The national  jury comprised of Anke Engelke, Tim Bendzko, presenter & singer Ben, MIA’s singer Miezekatz and Sabine Henrich. They gave their 12 points to Sweden’s Loreen. The results of the semifinal jury vote have also been released. See how it compared to the final German vote, once televotes were added. (more…)

Germany: Loreen Tops Single Charts

  Germany – Informed sources report that when the German single charts will be updated this Friday they will be lead by no other than Eurovision winner Loreen from Sweden. To show the magnitude of this result we have to go back to 1974. That is the last time a non-German Eurovision song came out on top in Germany. The leaders back then were of course ABBA. Additionally, Loreen also came out 3rd on the UK single charts. The second and third biggest music markets in the world are thus in Euphoria. (more…)

  Sweden – Last night Loreen performed her Eurovision winning song “Euphoria” on the German television show “Autoball EM”. The show was hosted by Steven Gätjen who hosted this year’s German national final and initiated by Stefan Raab, who also created the “Our star for..” series. Germany: Danke, Anke!

  Germany – The Eurovision Song Contest 2012 from Azerbaijan was a big and perfectly organized spectacle. The arena and the fireworks were more Olympia than Eurovision. During the entire final, no one could notice anything concerning human rights violations, deficites in democracy etc. (except maybe for the horrible interval performance of the president’s son in law). One person gave the suppressed opposition in Azerbaijan a voice during the voting. Anke Engelke, last year’s host thanked Azerbaijan for the great show and then added this sentence: (more…)

Eurovision 2012 – Good morning from sunny Baku! It’s semifinal 1 day but acts that are not involved are busy doing other things in the beautiful city of Baku. The Eurovillage is hosting lots of musical events, and there are DJs and live acts keeping the party going there on the promenade each day until late. Most of the Big 5 will  perform there tomorrow! Spain – Spanish Eurovision fans have reacted with anger and disappointment upon learning that national broadcaster TVE has decided to only show the first semi-final and final on TV this year. Spain can only vote in the first semi-final. José María Íñigo will be the commentator, while Elena S. Sánchez will announce the Spanish points in the final. Germany however have confirmed they will show both semi-finals and final.

Germany- Tonight’s Unser Star Für Baku saw Roman Lob  chosen as the German representative in Eurovision 2012 with the song ‘Standing Still‘.  Both finalists performed 3 original songs. 2 were the same, and then each performed a song uniquely for them. ‘Standing Still‘ was chosen for Roman and ‘Quietly‘ for Ornella de Santis, and Roman went on to win in a close fought battle.   Germany – After 7 looong elimination shows, the German performer and entry at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will finally be known after today’s national final to be broadcast on ARD at 20:15 CET. Roman Lob and Ornella di Santis will compete for the German ticket to Baku. Each of them will perform 3 original songs. 2 will be the same, but with different arrangements to suit the artists, additionally Roman and Ornella will each perform a song uniquely for them. Germany – The Unser Star für Baku final will be fought out between Roman Lob and Ornella de Santis. In the semi-final last night jury members Alina Süggeler, Thomas D, and Stefan Raab only gave comments, leaving the public using televoting to decide the final two. Germany: Eurovision Selection Turns Into Ratings Disaster

  Germany – The German performer selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 has turned into a ratings disaster. Yesterday’s fifth show was watched by only 1,13 million people, which makes it the low point of all shows produced in the ARD/Pro7 cooperation. The show lost half a million fans since last Thursday alone and is way below the broadcaster’s average market share. Germany: Two More Acts Eliminated

  Germany – Tonight, yet another elimination round of the German performer selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 took place. Two of the eight performing acts were eliminate: Umut Anil and Sebastian Dey did not make it to the next round. Roman, however reaffirmed his favorite status by coming first yet again.
