A Friend in London Reduce to a Duo

AFriendInLondonA Friend in London – Denmark’s 2011 act, A Friend in London, have downsized. Two members, Esben Svane and Aske Bramming have left the band. Singer Tim Schou will continue, along with Sebastian Vinther staying to support him as and when his studies allow. DenmarkDenmark – After a big live show in Denmark tonight, Emmelie de Forest was chosen as their representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013. She will go to Malmö in May to sing ‘Only Teardrops.’ After all ten finalists had performed their songs once, three were chosen for the superfinal; Simone,  Emmelie de Forest and Mohamed Ali. Denmark: Songs Online!

DenmarkDenmark – The ten songs that will compete in Denmark’s national final Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2013 are now online to listen to in full. The songs are being presented daily on the radio on P4, but all have today been uploaded to the Internet here. The Danish final will be decided this Saturday, 26th January from 20.00hr. (more…)

DenmarkDenmark – National broadcaster DR today revealed the 10 finalistsfor this year’s Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. Two names will be known to fans, as Brinck from 2009, has entered once more, as has Simone frm 2010. One of the tracks, ‘We Own The Universe’ was written by Boström and G:son, the composers of last year’s winning song, ‘Euphoria‘. (more…)

DR Wants New EBU Rules on Song Publishing

  EBU -The Danish national broadcaster DR has asked the EBU (see pic for new logo) to review their tough rules for the date Eurovision songs may be published. The current EBU rules state that a song that participates in the Eurovision Song Contest can not have been published or performed publicly before September 1 of the preceding year. (more…)

Denmark: Rules for Melodi Grand Prix 2013

  Denmark – The Danish national broadcaster DR revealed the rules for the 2013 Danish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in nearby Malmö. Interested songwriters can submit their entries until September 24. All songs can not have been published before September 1 (in keeping with EBU rules). Six of the submitted songs will go on to the national final Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2013, with 4 more being invited through wildcards by DR. Foreign songwriters are allowed to enter, but they have to cooperate with a Danish composer or artist. (more…)

UK: BBC Reveals Jury’s Votes

United Kingdom- The results of the jury vote in the United Kingdom have been announced by the BBC.The jury’s favorite in the second semi-final was the song from Malta. Sweden only got 7 points from them. In the final, the jury favorite was Spain. Ireland suffered most due to the jury, who did not award them a single point. Jedward still got 10 points from the UK. Denmark – The results of the Jury vote in Denmark have been revealed, and they show large disagreements between the Danish jury and the Danish public. According to Danish website dr.dk, the Danish TV viewers loved the grandmothers from Russia and the power ballad from Iceland. The jury however favoured europop from Cyprus, Spain, Greece and Israel. Soluna Samay’s Message To European Voters

  Denmark – We have had it all again this year: sad faces, crushed dreams, sore losers and hurt reactions from the Bottom 5. However, Soluna Samay from Denmark found another and much more classy outlet of her post Eurovision depression. RussiaEurovision 2012 – Another day’s rehearsals have taken place at the Crystal Hall and reports coming through from Baku say the Russian grannies put on a good first performance, and Ireland had a nice fountain. Israel, San Marino, Cyprus, Hungary, Denmark, Austria and Moldova have also rehearsed. Pasha for Moldova got a bit racy. (more…)

Denmark Sends Soluna Samay to Eurovision

 Denmark – Denmark tonight chose its representative to send to the 2012 Euovision final in Azerbaijan and picked Soluna Samay, singing “Should’ve Known Better“. Soluna beat “Take our hearts” by Jesper Nohrstedt, and Christian Brøns & Patrik Isaksson’s “Venter” in the superfinal of three acts in a nail biting finish. All foreign juries had voted for Jesper Nohrstedt and he was two points in the lead before the votes from the public televoting were added on. (more…)

  Denmark – Tonight the third Eurovision entry of the 2012 will be chosen in Denmark. DRK will broadcast the final of the national selection “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix” live from Aalborg. The show will see a total of nine artist fighting for the Danish ticket to Baku. Originally ten songs were supposed to compete but he entry “Nowhere” had to be disqualified for being published too early. The national final on January 21 will be divided into 2 phases.   Denmark – In a surprise move Jesper Nohrstedt has released a music video for his Danks Melodi Grand Prix entry “Take Our Hearts”. Only rarely do competitors in the competition publish a music video before the competition. Denmark – Today the official ESC website has linked to Danish national selection page so we can hear this years contestants in the annual Melodi Grand Prix (listen to them here). It is the first chance to hear the return of ESC song writing champions Julie Frost & John Gordon with the song ‘Best Thing I Got’ performed by Aya.   Denmark – DRK announced the ten participants of this year’s Danish national final “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2012″ in a special press conference today. Snippets of the songs will be published on January 16, while the CD will be published two days later. Denmark: International Jury in National Final

  Denmark – The Danish national broadcaster’s official website announced today that music experts from Germany, Norway, Russia and Azerbaijan will join the jury of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix this year. DR spokesperson Jan Lagermand Lundme said that Denmark was close to win the contest in recent years and with the new format they’d try to make it all the way in 2012.   Denmark – In three days the Danish national broadcaster DR will reveal the list of participants for the Danish national final “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2012″ which will be held on January 21. The official blog of the competition has published three names today that may participate in the national final. Among them is Susanne Georgi who could reunite with Pernille Georgi as the duo Me & My, which had a hit in the 90s with the song “Dub-I-Dub“.   OGAE Denmark - Eurovisionary reports, that the newly elected president of OGAE Denmark has called for a boycott of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 due to human rights violations related to the construction of the 2012 venue “Baku Crystal Hall“. Johann Sørensen sent out a press release suggesting to the Danish national broadcaster DRK and other broadcasters to boycott the event. The EBU has denied that there is a link between the demolitions reported by the BBC and the Eurovision Song Contest. (more…)

Is the Danish entry “New Tomorrow” plagiarism?

Denmark - Yesterday the band “A Friend in London” won the Danks Melodi Grand Prix with the song “New Tomorrow”. Since then the song has stirred some debates. The readers of the site pj.dk, claim that the song that will represent Denmark in Germany is a case of plagiarism of the song “Sing for me”, an entry of Andreas Johnson at Melodifestivalen 2006. Denmark: “A Friend in London – New Tomorrow” to Eurovision

Denmark – Tonight, Denmark chose its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in their traditional “Melodi Grand Prix”.  The band “A Friend in London” won the national final with their song “New tomorrow” and will thus fly the Danish flag in Düsseldorf next May. Previously “A friend in London” had competed against “Stine Knick” and “Anna Noa” against “Le Freak” in the semi-final stage of the show. Denmark – Tonight, Denmark will choose its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in their traditional “Melodi Grand Prix”. The national final will be held in the Ballerup Super Arena in Copenhagen. Ten artists will compete for the ticket to Düsseldorf. The songs were previously chosen out of over 650 submissions. Felix Smith and Lise Rønne will host the show tonight. The final is organized in 3 rounds: In the first round a jury will assess the performances and 4 artist will qualify to the semi-final with a 50/50 split of jury and televotes. Denmark – Tomorrow evening the Danish national final “Melodi Grand Prix” will be held in Copenhagen. Ten songs were chosen by a jury of the national broadcaster out of over 660 submissions.
