Czech Republic – It’s not a surprise at all: The Czech national broadcaster ČT has no plans to return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013 or even in the near future. They do not even plan to broadcast the contest next year. The country has only participated in Eurovision 3 times. Both the results of their entries (last with 0 points, second to last and last in the semi-finals) and the media coverage as well as the ratings were far from satisfactory. (more…)

Czech Republic – The Czech Republic has taken its decision: The Central European country will not return to the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Azerbaijan and will thus continue its absence for a third year in a row. The general director of the national broadcaster said that the channel has no intention of participating in the contest and would instead focus on other international television shows such as the BBC’s Downtown Abby. Czech Republic – On a continent of more or less Eurovision-crazy television stations, the Czech Republic is the only region in Europe where no national television station will broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest this year. Last year an official of the Czech national broadcaster explained that the Central European country would not return to the contest in the coming years due to a lack of interest and success (last, second to last and last in the semi-final). Eurovision 2011 – This year there were more rumors and speculations about possible returns, debuts and withdrawals than in any other year. There were also more (predominantly positive) surprises concerning the list of participating nations. In total 42 countries (nothing official yet) will compete for the ‘Grand Prix’ in Düsseldorf next May. Czech Republic – According to an article by the Czech website novinky.cz, we shouldn’t hope for a return of the Central European country any time soon. The speaker of Czech television CT, Ladislav Stichy told them: “Our audience hasn’t taken the Eurovision Song Contest very well. Furthermore the press was very critical about it.
