Cyprus – This year’s Cypriot entry, Despina Olympiou, is one of today’s featured artists. She was chosen internally by the Cypriot broadcaster CyBC and will sing the ballad ‘An Me Thimase‘ in Malmö. Despina was born on October 17, 1975 (age 37) in Limassol, Cyprus. She studied in London where she obtained her degree in piano and music theory. She started singing professionally in 1992. (more…)

Cyprus – Rumour number 297 was correct! Cyprus today confirmed that they have internally selected Despina Olympiou to be their representative in Malmo. CyBC also confirmed that the song was written by Andreas Giorgallis (music) and Zenon Zindilis (lyrics), both Cypriots, and it will be sung in Greek.

Cyprus – The ‘Is it, Isn’t it?’ game guessing game continues in Cyprus with sources now suggesting that an internal selection has resulted in Valando Trifonos being chosen to be this year’s Cypriot entry. Valando won the first Greek Idol show and has previously (unsuccessfully) tried to represent both Cyprus and Greece at Eurovision. Watch this space for an official announcement from CyBC soon.

He has reportedly said that he was asked but he cannot give up so much of his diary time for Eurovision. Cyprus – One of the many European countries that have to struggle with financial difficulties at the moment is Cyprus. The national broadcaster is not exempt from this development. The national broadcaster CyBC normally has to ask for funds from the state to finance the Eurovision participation. Eurovision 2012 – Another day’s rehearsals have taken place at the Crystal Hall and reports coming through from Baku say the Russian grannies put on a good first performance, and Ireland had a nice fountain. Cyprus - Ivi Adamou’s video for ‘La La Love’ has been released by Cypriot Broadcaster CyBC, and can now be viewed on the official Eurovision YouTube here. Ivi was chosen internally by the Cypriot tv station to be their representative in Baku after becoming famous through Cypriot XFactor. She will perform in the first semi-final on 22nd May.

Cyprus – Today the telecommunications business MTN Chipre revealed that the three songs that Ivi Adamou will present in Cyprus’ song selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, will be revealed on January 6 on their Facebook page. Cybc, the Cypriot broadcaster had initially announced that more information about the song presentation and national final would be revealed via a special press conference on the 9th of January.

Cyprus – Cybc, the Cypriotic broadcaster has announced more information about the song presentation and national final, in which the right song for internally selected Ivi Adamou will be chosen. The broadcaster revealed mid summer that Ivi Adamou would represent the country at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Two of the songs are said to be up-tempo songs, while the third one is a mid-tempo rock ballad. The songs are all in English. Cyprus – Sony Music and CyBC have revealed today that 3 songs will be competing to be Cyprus’ Eurovision entry in Azerbaijan. The songs were apparently penned by foreign songwriters, who were invited by the national broadcaster. Earlier this year Ivi Adamou had been selected as Cyprus’ Eurovision entrant. Adamou rose to fame with her participation in the second season of the Greek version of X-Factor. Christos Mylordou who had previously won the casting show “Performance” and thus the right to represent Cyprus in Düsseldorf has recorded the song “San Aggelos S’Agapisa” which was chosen out of 20 submissions to be the Cypriot entry in 2011. Now judges will choose the qualifiers for the televised national final. This year international composers were allowed to submit their entries.
