Azerbaijan – Hot on the heels of accusations that Azerbaijan have been rigging votes, their President, Ilham Aliyev, has ordered an investigation into this year’s voting after no points were awarded by Azerbaijan to Russia. The national broadcaster Ictimai, appear to have revealed that viewers’ votes put Russia’s Dina Garipova in second place, and the jury also supported her. (more…)

Azerbaijan – According to Georgianews.ge, Farid Mammadov visited Georgia yesterday as part of a promo tour. Whilst there he performed alongside Georgian contestants Nodiko Tatishvili and Sopo Gelovani. The 21-year old singer performed Georgian and Azeri songs at the press conference and revealed that his grandmother was Georgian. Check out some video footage here.

Azerbaijan – The crowd at last night’s annual London Eurovision Party were treated to the very first play of one of Farid Mammadov’s dance remixes of ‘Hold Me‘. The two remixes that have been produced have been made by DJ Sukhoi and DJ Alex Matthew. You can now listen to the remixes here and also download them. Azerbaijan – Today’s featured artist is Azerbaijan’s Farid Mammadov. He will represent his country in the 2nd semi-final in Malmo on 16th May. Fərid Məmmədov was born on 30th August 1991 in Baku, Azerbaijan, and is currently a student of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. He also works for the Baku Jazz Centre. Azerbaijan – in this week’s 8th heat, Valeriya Hüseynzadə and Aysel Babayeva have qualified for Azerbaijan’s national final. The final takes place on March 14th. Azerbaijan – The long journey starts tonight to choose the Azerbaijan entry for Malmö 2013. Their national selection – Milli Secim Turu – has just started with the first 10 participants out of the 80 remaining in the contest so far. Azerbaijan – According to APA, entries have been submitted to the Azeri national selection from several countries including the US, Germany, Russia and Kazakhstan. Candidates will attend the national selections on December 17th. 80 candidates have been chosen by jury from 128 original entries, and divided into 8 groups and will compete for 8 weeks. The national selections are expected to be completed in mid-March.

Azerbaijan – Just so you don’t get the wrong idea: I have no interest in targeting Azerbaijan or any other countries, but the news come as they come. This Saturday, Cyprus gave its 8 points to Azerbaijan. The Cypriot jury got suspicious and complained to CyBC as they had not awarded a single point to the Azeri song. That suggest that Azerbaijan must’ve probably won the Cypriot televote. Now information surfaces that Azerbaijan got 3500 SMS in Cyprus but not a single phone call. United Kingdom – The BBC today hosted a press event which saw Englebert Humperdinck get together with Azerbaijan’s Sabina, and then Ireland’s Jedward. ‘The Hump’ chatted to the Irish twins about their trademark hair and wore a jedhead. Euroclub – Several sources report, that the DJ at the Euroclub was advised not to play Armenian Eurovision entries anymore. After he played Armenia’s 2010 entry “Apricot Stone” by Eva Rivas, the authorities apparently intervened and prohibited any Armenian music. Azerbaijan – The song that will Sabina Babayeva will sing for the host country in Baku has been announced, and is called ‘When The Music Dies‘. It is composed by the Swedes Anders Bagge, Sandra Bjurman, Stefan Örn and Johan Kronlunddur. It is a slow ballad, sung in English. The video will be released on Monday. (more…)
Azerbaijan – The entry to be performed by Sabina Babayeva for this year’s host country in Baku is called “Our love song“. It may be called its Azerbaijani title: “Sevgi Nəğməmiz” and will probably be sung in Azerbaijani. Part of the song has been revealed online and you can hear it here. It’s full release date is expected to be 17th March.

Azerbaijan -The host country will tonight pick its representative for Baku in its Mili Seçim Turu show. 5 acts are competing for the honour: Elton İbrahimov, Arzu İsmayilova, Fəqan Səfərov, Orxan Kərimli and Səbinə Babayeva. The show will start at 21.00 local time and can be seen online at eurovision.az. The Turkish representative Can Bonomo, and Maltese representative Kurt Calleja will also perform on the show.

Azerbaijan – Today, the seventh round of the Azerbaijani national selection for Eurovision 2012 took place. Sabina Babayeva was the winner of this week’s heat. Only one more heat remains to take place. The results of the heat were determined by 50% jury and 50% SMS-voting. Sabina will join Orhan Kerimli, Maryam Karimova, Hayyam Mustafazadeh, Faqan Safarov, Elton Ibrahimov and Adil Bakhshili in the national final to represent Azerbaijan in the Contest this year. (more…)

Eurovision Song Contest – January 8th 2011, the list of participants has been published, the host city is known to be Düsseldorf, the venue to be the Esprit Arena and the last ticket for the final had been sold nearly a month ago. Now, one year later, the crown of the Eurovision winner and thus host has been passed from Germany to Azerbaijan.
