Armenia – In late January, AMPTV internally selected Gor Sujyan as their representative for the Eurovision Song Contest this year. Tonight, the National Selection to choose the song he will sing in Malmo took place with four songs in contention. “Toy Planet”, “Lonely Planet”, “No Time” and “The Truth were all performed by Gor who is also the lead singer of the rock group, Dorians. armeniaArmenia – Saturday night sees Armenia choose a song for Gor Sujyan to sing in Malmö. Gor Sujyan will sing 4 songs, and the winning entry will be chosen by a combined vote of the TV public and an expert jury. The Public Television of Armenia internally selected Gor Sujyan, who is the lead singer of the rock band Dorians. You can watch on Eurovision.tv at 18.30(CET). (more…)

armeniaArmenia – Armenian Public Television has announced that it received over 70 applications for the song to be performed by Gor Sujyan at Eurovision 2013 from countries such as Spain, Belgium, Sweden, France, and Armenia. The songs from Armenia, according to the spokesperson, “are of higher quality.” Several songs have been shortlisted and will be presented on March 2nd. Gor Sujyan and his band, Dorians, will also present a song.

Euroclub: Armenian Music Unwelcome

  Euroclub – Several sources report, that the DJ at the Euroclub was advised not to play Armenian Eurovision entries anymore. After he played Armenia’s 2010 entry “Apricot Stone” by Eva Rivas, the authorities apparently intervened and prohibited any Armenian music. Armenia: Fined for Late Withdrawal

Armenia – The national broadcaster for Armenia, AMPTV, has been given a fine by the EBU. This is in response to their late withdrawal from the 2012 contest. Armenia claimed that the safety of their delegation could not be assured by Azerbaijan. The fine will be the normal participation fee plus 50%. AMPTV must also broadcast all three shows without breaks. If they fail to do so they could be banned by the EBU from future contests.

  Armenia – The organization of Armenians in the Netherlands called “Dear Angels” launched a campaign for the singer Lucia Moon (stage name Babayants Lucina, who is born in the region of Nagorno-Karabakh) to become the Armenian representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012.   Armenia – In an interview with mediamax.am, Sietse Bakker, the supervisor of the Eurovision event, claimed that Armenia has not requested any specific security measures for its participation in the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Armenia – Today news.am have stated that there are presently discussions concerning Armenia’s particpation in Baku. Armenian broadcaster, AMPTV also confirmed that the official announcement shall be made before the new year. Armenia – Armenia has chosen its Eurovision entry for Düsseldorf: Emmy will perform the song “Boom Boom” at Eurovision. Emmy, the runner-up in last year’s Armenian national final was internally selected to represent the Caucasian country in Germany. Las night, she performed 4 songs by different composers and the Armenian public and a jury of experts chose “Boom Boom” as the Armenian entry. Armenia – The Armenian national broadcaster has just revealed the full versions of the 4 songs that will compete in the Armenian national final.Originally the show was supposed to be held last Saturday but as Emmy’s father died only days before the broadcast, the national final was moved to in order to give Emmy enough time to grieve. Today with news from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Slovenia, Macedonia, Finland, the Netherlands and Portugal

Netherlands – The 3Js, the Dutch representatives at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest will probably sing their entry “Je vecht nooit alleen” (I don’t fight alone”) in its English version.

Armenia - Gohar Gasparyan,the Armenian Head of Delegation has told OGAE Armenia that the Armenian national final, originally scheduled for February 19th might be postponed. The 4 entries that the internally selected artist Emmy will perform in the national final will be disclosed on February 10.

Azerbaijan – Aaand it has happened again: Azerbaijan’s national broadcaster IctimaiTV has announced a change of the date for the national final. The Azeri entry will be chosen out of 5 competitors on February 11. Let’s hope this will be the final change of the selection process in the Caucasian country.

Armenia: Emmy’s song to be chosen on February 19

Armenia -The Armenian national final to select a song for Emmy will be held on February 19 in Yerevan. The song will be chosen by a mixture of 50% jury and 50% televote. Mihran, who performed with Emmy in last year’s Armenian national final will probably not be on stage with her. The Armenian public broadcaster has reduced the songs submitted for Emmy from 70 to 15. Armenia – Emmy, who has been selected internally to represent Armenia in Düsseldorf has revealed that her good friend Mihran  will accompany her on stage at the Eurovision Song Contest. The duo had participated in the Armenian preselection last year and came second to Eva Rivas.Authors and composers may still submit songs.
