Andorra – escXtra.com reports, that Andorra will not return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013. Ingrid Deltenre, the EBU general director visited the principality last week. One of the aims was to bring Andorra back to the Eurovision Song Contest. However, Antoni Martí,the head of government stated that the financial difficulties Andorra is experiencing will prohibit it from returning to Eurovision in the near future. The micro state had participated from 2004 to 2009 and never reached the final. (more…)

Andorra – It’s the final nail in the coffin of any hopes of Andorra returning to the Eurovision Song Contest ever again. The Andorran national broadcaster announced today that they would withdraw their membership in the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). However, membership in the organization is the most important prerequisite for a participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Eurovision 2011 – This year there were more rumors and speculations about possible returns, debuts and withdrawals than in any other year. There were also more (predominantly positive) surprises concerning the list of participating nations. In total 42 countries (nothing official yet) will compete for the ‘Grand Prix’ in Düsseldorf next May. An official list of the participating countries is expected to be released after January 7, when the EBU will resume its work after the Christmas break. Here is what we know so far: (more…)

Now, there have been new developments and we have more information. The chances thus need to be reassessed. Slovakia – Today the Slovak television channel STV has started a poll concerning Slovakia’s future in the Eurovision Song Contest. If you want Slovakia to continue competing please vote for “áno” meaning “yes” in Slovak. You can find the poll on the right site of this website. Slovakia has not yet confirmed its participation due to financial troubles.
Andorra – The Catalan newspaper “Diari d’Andorra” reported today, that Andorra will not return to the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. The director of the Andorran television channel RTVA, Jordi Marticella, told the paper that Andorra can’t participate due to a tense financial situation.
