Best Last Place – 90 songs have come last or shared last at the Eurovision Song Contest. Over the last weeks hundreds of our readers have voted for their favorites. Each voter submitted his personal Top 5. In the next days we will reveal your Top 15. We continue today with a microstate: Andorra!

For its third Eurovision participation, Andorra selected the young, unknown Spanish singer Jenny. She performed the dramatic ballad “Sense tu” in Catalan. In the lyrics, Jenny sings that she cannot live without her lover and that she is thus “at the end of the road”. The performance was criticizes as Jenny appeared in a black nightgown, surrounded by female dancers dressed in light lingerie. With only 8 points, all of them from Spain, Andorra came last in the semi-final.

  1. That disaster live did not deserve to be in the final, but the song’s rather fine in that horrible 2006 contest (still the worst of all times imo musically) and coming from Andorra, we felt it’s not fair that such a country really seems incapable to provite with the televoting system so I understand its place in the top 15. Not for me, but ok

  2. Eulenspiegel says:

An intense but monotonous song. Nice but in the long time uninteresting. The performance live was not much to say hooray to. I wouldn’t have it in my personal Top 15.

  3. Andorra 2006 gets a 7/12 from me , it’s my #15 out of 37 on my 2006 list. However , I don’t think it deserved qualifying as it is my #11 in semi.Scoring last (23rd ) in the semi while it was borderline qualifier imo is a huge injustice nevertheless…That’s the reason why I rank “Sense tu” as #31 on my most underrated entries list since 1999 that I’ve been working my statistics.

PS : Easily the best entry from Andorra in esc.
PS 2 : 2006 along with 2011 get the lowest average song-wise in my statistics so far…

I t was a nice song ruined by a tasteless live performance. That combined with the fact it was Andorra lead to the last place in the semi.

  5. Efi says:

    hi guys!
totally of topic, just visiting to post a song that i am hopelessly addicted to, the last days.
    hope you enjoy it.

  6. Efi says:

    Hi Donnie, Dimitri!

i like Despina too! and Mike! ;)
Dimitri, when you see a black and white video clip, Rigos is behind….

  7. milim says:

Well the song it’s not THAT bad, maybe not last place but that performance… seriously, Andorra?
Those dancers are the WORST thing I’ve ever seen in a Eurovision performance, even worse than Piero (Switz’04) hittin himself with his microphone. Whole Europe is watching at you and you put 4 dancers how dance with some IKEA chairs? NO NO NO

  8. togravus says:

I really like this song in studio version and think that it should have qualified despite the weak and pointless live performance in such an atrocious year as 2006. I would not have included it in my personal top 15 though. Other songs would deserve it much more. Where are Germany and Portugal 1964 f. e.?

  9. Mario Mir says:

It’s rumoured here that this girl is working in a Burger King in the Barcelona area. Certainly she CAN’T live of this kind of music so she should pay bills as everybody.
By some reason all failured ‘euro-stars’ here end in food commerces: Coral Segovia at bakery, Jennifer at burger…

  10. marcpanozzo says:

This is actually one of my favourite songs in the very poor year that was 2006. Yes, the performance may have been a little sleazy and disorganised, but her vocals were strong and the song itself was much better than some of the others that managed to make it to the final – *cough* Armenia *cough*. All in all, my personal favourite Andorran entry, and one that definitely deserved to secure a place in the final.

  11. Shevek says:

I like this song very much despite that very desperate live performance. Andorra, Iceland, Albania (I really like this one) and Bulgaria should have been present in the final, imo.

  12. Dino Mil says:

Oh my this chart is becoming increasinlgy lame :p

  13. Patrick P. says:

Jenny and “Sense tu” definitely deserve to be on this list. They were my 8th best last place entry on my personal list, and while I agree with many that the performance was lacking, the song itself and the vocals were both strong.

This is the second of my personal top 10 to make this list. Sweden 1963 being the other one (and my personal 2nd place).

  14. skgambassadortoesc says:

As Donnie has already said: easily, the best andorran entry ever. In fact it would be #6 in my BLP list (should i had ever made such a list). I fail to see anything bad in the live performance either.

PS: I would be more than thrilled to see either Italy 66 or Spain 83 topping this list. Silly me… :P

  15. Guell says:

This was a great song and one of my favorites from that year, but was ruined by the unnecessary choreography.
She should have been alone on stage. It could have been powerful.

  16. guitaristbl says:

Andorra could teach a class to other esc countries on “how to destroy a good song with a horrible live performance”..2006 being arguably the most profound example IMO (2008 and 2005 not far behind..) since the song itself is great, the singer is way above average with an interesting voice colour but such an unfortunate and cheap presentation is what ruined the while thing (apart from being Andorra of course..)
