Norway – The winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, Alexander Rybak, has told Belgian Eurovision website eurosong.be that he will never return to Eurovision as a singer. Rybak was in Antwerp to promote his latest single “I’ll Show You”, a duet with Paula Selig. Asked whether he would follow into Johnny Logan’s footsteps and try to win Eurovision a second time, he said that he would “never return as a singer”.Rybak fans can still look forward to new Eurovision entries by Norway’s favorite violinist, as Alexander also declared that he would return “as a composer many times and for many different countries”. He also disclosed that his life changed a lot since he won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009. While earlier he wanted to experience as much of the world as possible, now he sometimes tries to be alone. He also plays less video games, which according to him is a sign for success, as he has many musical projects to work on. For Rybak a hit on the charts is not the most important. He wants to please his fans. He feels blessed to have so much success as a classical musician. “I’m not a singer! Com’on! I’m a violinist!”

Good for him. Love him but I’m glad he’s not entering anymore. Nothing will be quite as brilliant or successful as Fairytale and I’d much prefer to remember him as the record-setting winner with a fabulous song, not the winner who came back and hit midtable like Lena or Perelli. Same would go for Loreen.
Hopefully, he makes good on that promise and starts composing! Norway could use a good successful song…
Thanks GOD! :/

Something we already knew for years.
I doubt any country would be interested in his compositions anyway.
Off topic: TVE has twitted that they’re starting its 2013 plans and called for ideas for revamping its ESC webpage. RAI has also revamped its ESC Facebook page.
Very pleased to hear he won’t return couldn’t stand him first time round with his over hyped nonsense.
“I’m not a singer! Com’on! I’m a violinist!”
At least the man is honest.
I find his 2009 effort an instant winner BUT definitely NOT the best song on offer when there were Estonia and France 09 competing as well.
I wouldn’t mind hearing a song from him again.Don’t understand why so much hate here lately?
A good decision IMO.But i would definitely like to see him entering MGP as a composer!
Good decicion. Not beacuse i dont like him but since he won the contest why to go again ? Now a days its very very difficult for a singer to win twice the contest, so why to risc it ?
