Finland – The Finnish national broadcaster YLE has called for songwriters and composers to submit songs for the Finnish national final UMK (Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu). The new format was introduced this year and will once again be used to select the Finnish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. Interested songwriters and composers can submit their songs to YLE until September 16.
In keeping with EBU rules, the singer must be at least 16 years old the day of the first semi-final and the song can not be longer than 3 minutes. Additionally, the song can not be entered into another national final and each artist can only enter one song. A jury will select 12 of the submitted entries which will compete in the national final in February 2013.
