Best Semi-Final Non Qualifiers– Over the last two weeks, hundreds of our readers have voted for their Top 5 Best Eurovision entries that did not make it to the final. Each voter had ten points to distribute: 5 to his favorite, 4 to the second place etc. Out of these points we calculated the ultimate Top 15 of your favorite Semi-Final non qualifiers! You can see the other places and our other rankings here! Your place 11 goes to Croatia!

In 2010, Croatia sent the girl group Feminnem to Oslo, which had previously represented Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2005 with the ABBA influenced song “Call Me”. The band consists of members from Croatia and Bosnia. In 2010, they returned to the Eurovision stage with the Croatian ballad “Lako je Sve”. The song is directed at the singer’s lover, whom she has betrayed. They sing “Because betrayal is written on my face“ and „Please forgive me, I love you, really love you”. They performed sitting on a bank on stage, then standing up. In 13th place they failed to qualify for the final.

  1. The song is okish typical r’n'b ballad but definitely too mainstream and it never explodes, so it would leave people rather cold… the dress were boring, the live underwhelming and the cheesy bench+heart live was purely awful… the vocals were better than in 2005 though… the first of the 3 lame croatian entries which all failed to qualify… considering the semi this was in, it could have gotten a final spot barely but I don’t think that having them failing to qualify is that big of an injustice… I wouldnt have had them in my top 15

  2. Predictable result and fair enough. It was my #12 on my best non qualifiers list !
The song is very good and the Croatian language sounds great.Too bad for the lame stage presentation with all that posing , unnecessary choreography , bench , hearts etc and for some unfortunate singing moments.
Still a 7 out of 12 and a well deserved place on this list !
Waiting for Estonia , Slovakia and Sweden 2010 to follow ;) ( Probably in the same order )

” the first of the 3 lame croatian entries which all failed to qualify”

Ok, that includes the masterpiece they sent this year. Choose your weapon. We will meet in the Bois de Boulogne before sunrise! ;)

Croatia 2010 is a pleasant but not outstanding Balkan ballad that was totally ruined by a messy and tacky live performence.

  4. stommie says:

Love this song. But I agree the performance was rather lame. The videoclip was perfect, and it is a pity they didn’t try to recreate that on stage.

  5. M - Right By My Side says:

Nice song and performance, I liked it, pity it didn’t qualify!

  6. Shevek says:

I like Croatia 10 very much. Feminem can sing live, but they managed to ruin everything with that ‘oh I’ve just washed my hair’ look and stage presentation. What a waste of a good song.

  7. Eulenspiegel says:

A song that has a very good start, but then loses some of its magic when it developes. Yet, a song that clearly deserved a qualification in the poor year of 2010. I wouldn’t have it in my personal Top 15, though.

  8. Patrick P. says:

A decent song with a tacky performance that destroyed its chances of qualification, but I definitely agree with Morgan that their vocals are much better than they were in “Call Me.” That being said, I definitely didn’t miss Femminem in the finals, and they are pretty far from my top 15 non-qualifiers. In fact, I had them personally ranked as my 11th from their semi-final.

My personal 11th best non-qualifier is San Marino 2011.

  9. CC says:

I do not like it. 14th in the semi-final was about fair.

  10. Oscar says:

This song doesn´t deserve be here. It´s so bad… :( It wasn´t in the final deservely.

  11. Milan S. says:

This song cannot hold a candle to Croatia 2012. (So far still only 1 match between my BSNQ list and the official one…)

  12. Sweden! says:

    Loved this song

  13. Eurofan says:

to croatia’s first gold in olympics would dedicate this song!

  14. M - Right By My Side says:

    @ Toggie

Montsho missed bronze in photo finish this Botswana (no medals) missed medal!!! :(

Bolt is IMPRESSIVE, but Yohan Blake, mmmmmmmm!! :P :D

    • togravus says:

Yes, I saw the 400 meters live and was really sad. But DeeDee Trotter won bronze. I love that name because it sounds like a funny and colourful cartoon character.

And YAY, both Borlée brothers are in the 400 meter final. :)

      • M - Right By My Side says:

But Kirani James will crash them HEAVILY! I think they won’t get any medal actually, I dislike them, I like Kirani James from Granada!

        • togravus says:

Have you ever heard an interview with any of the Borlées? They are fantastic guys. Or is your predilection based on looks only? ;)

P.S. I do not expect them to win an individual medal but I expect Belgium to win a medal in the 400 meters relay. :)

          • M - Right By My Side says:

I simply dislike them…I don’t care only for look of course, you see that I like many different athletes male and female, black, white, Chinese, and all others.. :) I simply dislike them, I really like Kirani James from Granada.. and i don’t expect Belgium to take medal in 400 m realy, because now you can see two from Bahama in the final of 400 m, and earlier they didn’t have medal in 400 m relay, but now they are better in 400 m than in 100 and 200 it seems..but we will see.. :)

            • togravus says:

Off topic: Since you watch Eurosport too. Do you get this strange ad for a deodorant that keeps you fresh for 5 days in Serbia too? I wonder who on earth (except people climbing Mt. Everest perhaps) needs such a product. Do people only take a shower once a week?

              • M - Right By My Side says:

I didn’t notice that ad..I watch sometimes on Eurosport (we have our Serbian commentator on Euro sport, so maybe that is not the same channel), and sometimes on RTS!

          • M - Right By My Side says:

Toggie Justin Gatlin got 4 years punishment, I think that was big punishment for doping, deserved one, but it was quite big for somebody’s career..
Kazakhstan has more golds than Russia and Germany! LOOL :D Kazakhstan knows only for golds his year (6,0,0) :D

            • togravus says:

Kazakhstan seems to be very effective this year because they do either gold or nothing at all.
Btw, I support the idea drug takers are banned from the Olympics for life and I hope that this ruule will be in place for Rio de Janeiro.

      • Eurofan says:

christine got silver! another medal, kind of unexpected, borlee brothers for the medals in 400 for belgium…..sorry guy (Marko?) as i understand you from Serbia? a big disapointment for Nole, I never expected that…..but of course aaaam happy about Murray gold and silver, here in London world is going crazy for the best of the world,,,,

        • M - Right By My Side says:

i predicted that she (Christine) will get gold actually, but Sanya was too strong today, and Christine started too late, she was the last and claimed silver.. :)

I know I’m so sad for Nole, but what we can do, we will get gold in water polo hopefully! :)

          • Eurofan says:

ok fingers crossed for you in the water polo, don’t know much about it, am sorry about for Nole, but olympics is olympics at Wimbldon, he lost both medal games, when he was favourite, such is the OLympics I guess, any other chance of a medal for Serbia? :-)

            • M - Right By My Side says:

In Beijing he won bronze.. ;)

Yes we have some other medal hopefuls..maybe even other group sports can pass and they are always dangerous, like volleyball and handball..we ar both current European champions, in volleyball and handball!

              • Eurofan says:

ok wll look out for you in those team competitions in OLympics…

              • Serbia was very lucky at home (both times it was at home): you’re already out in handball! France won’t do that good, I fear we’ll lose in quarter final too :(

                • M - Right By My Side says:

So what it was at home, we would have won even if it was abroad..because team was very strong, now we are out in both volleyball and handball, but that is Olympics and competition is strong, our group in handball was very difficult, Croatia and Spain are stronger than almost all in your group..I predict gold for Croatia, but we will see..

                  • Iceland and France are vice and olympic champions… not THAT small a group! but yes it was a strong group, except Serbia beat Croatia and Denmark in the last Euro, and now they couldnt do that good, so I guess it DID help to be at home (everyone knows it helps to play in front of your own crowd and on own soil, I’m not saying it was cheating I’m saying it helped, period)

                    • M - Right By My Side says:

                      OK..maybe..

                    • Another interesting statistic: if you put together the scores of Spain, Australia and Greece at Barcelona 92, Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 you get 36 golds… so far in London 2012 these three countries have together… 2 golds! (both from Australia)… being at home is a help, you want to do better (France won only once the world cup in football and it was at home!) Serbia still has a great chance in water polo no? ;)

                  • Anonymous says:

serbia beat croatia last time only because of the fans. they were unbelievably loud every time serbia had an attack. screamed insults and lasers pointed at the goalkeeper’s eyes were seen even on tv. that’s why they won. not because they were very strong. so yeah.. home field helped a lot.

  15. Eulenspiegel says:

Has no one mentioned the hammer throwing? I’m always expecting that someone – a judge or an audience member – shall get that flying object in their head. Nice to see Krisztián Pars finally winning an Olympic gold medal, he has climbed safe and sound.

  16. UKEurofan says:

Croatia deserved to get to the final in 2010 I liked the song and it was one of my favourites that year.

  17. tehoe says:

It’s not a bad song, but it lacks something and it’s very forgettable. I was not surprised it didn’t qualify, and I didn’t really think it deserved to.

  18. Dino Mil says:

I never liked this entry. Especially their live…it was a mess!

  19. rashidhk81 says:

Really disliked this song when I first heard it. It has since grown on me, but that may have been the problem. I don’t think it stands out quickly enough.

  20. Eulenspiegel says:

I will never stop wondering how this song would have scored in Oslo.

It’s so damn groovy and cool. And fresh, not to forget.

  21. roselildk says:

too much estrogens for my taste!

  22. guitaristbl says:

Croatia seems to have lost its way and senses in esc the last years…and that would be quite a few years actually…I can see the nostalgia quality behind the 2008 entry (although I consider even that a bit over the top nostalgic) but after that..2009 was dreary and overdramatic to an annoying point. 2011 was a song I liked I have to say an I like Daria but definately not a contender for a decent result. 2012 was mediocre at everything. Monotonous as a song, sang by one of the most incapable of conveying emotions singers on the esc stage and with an unfortunate to say the least stage presentation.
As for 2010 : An ok mid tempo ballad, definately better than their previous entry. Actually it made me thought that Feminem matured as a band and stopped thinking that being just sexy would help them in the contest when they presented such a song. And then they want to destroy it in stage with a presentation that reminded me of a lingerie show at best proving to me that they haven’t changed their philosophy to the slightest. Croatia needs to wake up truly and take an example from its close neighbours really.
