BSNQ #14: Tamara, Vrčak and Adrijan – Let Me Love You

Posted: August 2, 2012 by eurovisiontimes in Ranking

Best Semi-Final Non Qualifiers– Over the last two weeks, hundreds of our readers have voted for their Top 5 Best Eurovision entries that did not make it to the final. Each voter had ten points to distribute: 5 to his favorite, 4 to the second place etc. Out of these points we calculated the ultimate Top 15 of your favorite Semi-Final non qualifiers! You can see the other places and our other rankings here! Your place 14 goes to FYR Macedonia!

In 2008 Macedonia sent a pop-rap trio to neighbor Serbia. Tamara Todevska, Vrčak and Adrian Gaxha performed their R’n’B song with several hip-hop verses in English, despite the fact that they had won the Macedonian national final in the national language. The song had won despite technical difficulties (the backing track could not be heard in the hall or on TV). At Eurovision, they did not face technical difficulties. Tama performed in a black dress, the two men wore white clothes, one baggy pants, sunglases and a vest showing his chest, while the other wore shorts and socks pulled to the knees. The men were responsible for the rap parts. The song is the plea of a woman: She asks her lover: “let me love you”, which is also the English title of the song. Macedonia came 10th and would have qualified under 100% televoting, but the juries helped Sweden to qualify.

SHAME< SHAME< SHAME on judges!! they are biased for the USA!!! :@ And against Russia, i'm sure! Victoria Komova deserved GOLD in gymnastics, not Douglas!! :@ SHAAAAAME! Shit biased judges, they ant USA to have more golds than China, but that won't happen, I didn't like China, but since now I support them against USA in all sports with full heart!!

  2. The Phantom says:

Wow. I’m pleasantly surprised this made it! “Let Me Love You” got my No.1 in the voting and I was so disappointed when it failed back in 2008. A worthy addition to this list IMO.

  3. Another one that I don’t get.Not definitely THAT bad but there were at least 25 acts more worthy to deserve a place in this top 15 , IN MY OPINION.For example FYROM 2010 !!!
Regarding “Let me love you” I find it kinda annoying and repetitive. And vocals were a bit shaky too.
Studio version ( actually we’re talking about a different song there – at least the version I have ) was way better !
I’m hoping to see a non qualifier that I will agree with at #13 ;)

  4. M - Right By My Side says:

Really awful entry, such obvious NON qualifier, no surprise at all..

  5. isaac GA says:

I don’t like it very much, but well…it almost reached the final…

  6. stommie says:

Mixed feeling about this. I could be a really great song had it only been sung by Tamara, because I really dislike the male vocals. The Macedonian and Turkish versions are also superior to the English one.
Unfortunately their live performance was really weak. In fact I think they murdered their song. And whoever did their styling should be punished.

  7. Eurofan says:

such an unforgettable song that I’d actually forgotten about it…so not much to say..IMO there were better songs that didn’t make the final and just to add…
watch out France and South Korea! here come GB in the medal table….:-) rumours about China secretly inventing some new indetectable drug (nothing would surprise me!), especially as they only started in the Olympics in 1984 as far as I know, something like Eastern Europe in ESC…rapid progress to top spots!! jeje :-)

  8. togravus says:

Well, everyone on this site knows that I totally love this song but allow me specify: I love the song in all known studio versions, I love the live performance and I love the styling in the semi-final too. All in all, it is my 2nd favourite song that did not qualify (n° 1 is Slovenia 2005).

Btw, it is quite ironic. I had supported the reintroduction of juries for years … and then they kicked out my n° 2 in this semi and sent plastic Perrelli to the final instead. LOL

  9. Eulenspiegel says:

Now, togravus will be happy. :)

As for me, I’m not head over heels for this. Tamara has a powerful voice, but the song doesn’t do it for me. Kinda forced, in some way. I agree with stommie, the male vocals are bad and Tamara should have done it herself.

  10. Eurofan says:

just like as an olympic semi final, I agree, didn’t deserve a final place..such a weak song even amongst those Olympics of Balkan/Eastern Europe points, togravus and you love this song? for me among those SF who didn’t make it would not have considered it ever

  11. Shevek says:

I do not like this song, but it is waaaaaay better than the snooze fest from Sweden. Those jurors were OGAE members, for sure. LOL

    • M - Right By My Side says:

No they weren’t Sweden 2008 was EXTRAORDINARY live singing and performance, also clothes and choreography, I was in Arena and enjoyed it A LOT, if it competed this year as well, I’m sure jury would save it! Your Loreen is bigger snooze fest and fan and OGAE wank! Also she mumbles and has 4 backing vocals behind the scene who hide to make her sound decent live..pfff..In 2008 we heard full vocal from Swedish singer and it’s GREAT composition!

      • togravus says:

        “Also she mumbles”

You sound like our beloved Roselil now … :)

        • M - Right By My Side says:

But that is true, she even mumbles in interviews when she speaks..strange as hell..I’m not fan any more..plus she had hidden backing vocals to help her sound like in studio version..but in such a horrible bunch of prehistoric songs, it’s obvious that she wins..pfff…if she had some competition I would give her some credit, but in that EXTREMELY WEAK competition…NO WAY!

      • Shevek says:

My Loreen?! LOL I am glad you liked Perelli’s live show, Marko.

  12. eurovisiontimes says:

I’m off for 10 days… to Italy and San Marino (mostly to ask what the hell they were thinking ^^) … James’ Reviews + the BSNQ + some FAQs will appear automatically, hulluna will look out for news so you should be covered

    • togravus says:

Have a nice trip and please say hello to the fantastic Città di San Marino, which I visited for the first time when I was still a part of my mother’s body more than 40 years ago … :)

      • M - Right By My Side says:

I wish I can go to San Marino, If I could i would go to Rimini for vacation this year, but i can go only in the second half of September and then Rimini and Adriatic coast in Italy is not very good any more (climate)..from Rimini SM is very close and they organize daily trips to SM! :) maybe next year! But also I dislike those big beaches in Rimini! But hey ho.. :D

  13. M - Right By My Side says:

UK – Spain played 78:79 in basketball..I couldn’t believe! :O Spain with Pau and Marc Gasol almost lost to UK..I thought that is a dream.. LOL :D :D

  14. M - Right By My Side says:

I’m so afraid for tomorrow final in 100 m butterfly, Čavić was 4th in semifinals…I hope he will get medal..we deserve that medal after Zorana’s 4th place, if he will be 4h again I’m gonna die! :(

    @ Toggie

You know for our swimmer Milorad Čavić? have you heard for him? Do you like Michael Phelps? i don’t! :@

    • togravus says:

Of course I know Čavić … and I support him too … because as in everything else, we Europeans need to stick together if we want to be up there with China, the USA etc.

Btw, our swimming commentators have become commited Europeans too … LOL … they talk about European medals instead of German medals these days..

Good luck to Milorad Čavić. And no, I am not a fan of Michael Phelps although I have a lot of respect for him … he probably is the best swimmer ever. :)

P.S. Are you sad because Angelique Kerber lost her match today? Btw, the best German medal so far was Marcel Nguyen’s because nobody thought that we could ever win a medal in the all-around. :)

      • “because as in everything else, we Europeans need to stick together if we want to be up there with China, the USA etc.” that’s what Hollande said when asked how he felt that France was going better than GB early in the Olympics :p

      • M - Right By My Side says:

Yes that was surprise, but I liked more your gold today in cycling!! :D

But I’m sad for my Slovaks in rapid waters! :( they all got bronzes! :( And Pacierpnik from Poland after such a powerful semi, came 7th in the final! :( Instead of her won some ugly French woman I detest! :( I wanted also Stepanka Hilgertova to win, she has 2 golds but 20 years agoo! :O She is 44 and stil competes at OLYMPICS! RESPECT! :)

And about Čavić, hmmm this time not only USA is problem, but South Africa as well..he was 4th after 2 Americans and Chad Le Clos from RSA who already has one gold in london, i eceven predict he can go for gold again, he is so dangerous atm..he stole gold to French Agnel yesterday! Laure Manadou is such a disappointment! :( But my Kirsty Coventry from Zimbabwe is in, I LUV her!! :)

What can i do Toggie when I usually like swimmers from outside of Europe (expect Cavic) :P :) , I hope Cesar Cielo Filho from Brasil wins 50 m gold! :)

        • togravus says:

“What can i do Toggie when I usually like swimmers from outside of Europe (expect Cavic)”

          Traitor! … LOL … :)

          Good night everyone!

          • M - Right By My Side says:

Hehehehehe..that is actually not true..I like some of them..for example Ranomi Kromowidjojo who claimed gold today! :) And i’m not fan of USA swimmers at all..so I’m half traitor! :P :P :) :-**

            • togravus says:

I love Kirsty Coventry, Rebecca Soni, Chad le Clos and some others too but generally I support European athletes because I identify as European much more than as German.

              • M - Right By My Side says:

I like them all too (those you mentioned)..but Cesar Cielo Filho…mmmmmmmmmmm!!!!

                So he best will be:

                1. Cavic
                2. Le Clos
                3. somebody else but Phelps
                :P LOL

  15. we talked about it yesterday so you can check what i said, 14th is fine for me here really; yay we’ll get a tennis medal in the olympics after all…

  16. M - Right By My Side says:

    @ Toggie

YEEEEEES I forgot, Dimitrij Ovtcharov from Germany won bronze in table tennis…YAAAAAAAAAAAY! Finally somebody from Europe to win medal in table tennis individual!!

  17. M - Right By My Side says:

OMG USA has just won against Nigeria in basketball 156:73!! :O :O That must be record in Olympics! :D

  18. Eurofan says:

voted the worst moment of British athletics ever! (here in London during these great OLYMPICS!!), Fatima Whitbread (UK) losing to Tiina Lillak (Finland) last throw of first world championships Helsinki 1983, but Fatima went on the greater things at least…:-)….

    • M - Right By My Side says:

Hmm thanks for reminding me that Finland still waits first medal in London..I hope they get it soon…the same goes for Portugal! I also hope some country get first medal in history, like Togo and Afganistan got in Beijing for the first time..

      • Eurofan says:

I hope so too, I’m here in London, and living the best OLympics ever!, it’s absolutely fantastic the atmosphere here (I’m from London), have been to several great events so far….don’t believe the nonsense hype, the crowds are full and cheering everybody (of course GB but I repeat <EVERYBODY) from every country…

        • M - Right By My Side says:

          Lucky you! :)

I believe you, I have been to London.. so I suppose..:)

But Djokovic will win! :P Give us medal in tennis please, you already have enough.. :P :D :)

          Good night!

          • Eurofan says:

British crowd will cheer the best of both Murray and Nole I am sure of it….I hate the fact the world stereotypes British as such cold, emotionless people whe in fact , as is shown in OLympics, we are very warm and open people, with the best sense of humour in the world, which includes laughing and criticising about ourselves too , even in Olympics…as opposed to comments here, along the lines of a limited kind of self-criticism/more along the lines of self-grandizism?

            • togravus says:

Your constant British supremacism is really annoying … and quite ludicrous too. The UK is like every other country, there are good and bad things about both its history and current state of affairs. Personally, I had the best time of my life when I lived in London but I would never conclude that London therefore is the best place in the world, because that is a terribly immature and egocentric thing to do. It simply is a place that is obviously perfectly matches my personality structure. Others might prefer Paris, Barcelona, Lisbon, Prague, Sofija, Krakow or Skopje, that does not make them bad people or inferior …

Btw, why does everything in Britain always have to be ‘the best’? “Best Olympics ever” (Have you been to all Olympic Games since 1896 to be able to make such a judgement?), “best sense of humour in the world” etc. Is it really so hard to think of the world in non-agonal categories? Finally, feeling the urge to always claim that things back home are the best in the world is a pretty worrying symptom indicating either a profound inferiority conflict or the necessity to conceal the fact that things are quite different in reality (just like the Azerbaijani propaganda we had to endure over the last year). Please bear with us poor and infirior barbarians from the continent, who do not believe that everything in the UK is the best thing since the invention of sliced bread, which of course is entirely our deficit. I am probably a lost cause anyway because I prefer Belgian to British humour.

  19. CC says:

    This is a non-qualifier? oO

  20. i really like the song lets just fall in love by akon but i cant find it on limewire or bearshare or any of those

  21. Patrick P. says:

I really like the studio version of this song, but I almost hate everything about it live. Their vocals really disappointed, and Tamara sounds screechy even in parts.

  22. M - Right By My Side says:

First medal for Croatia in London!
