Posted: July 24, 2012 by eurovisiontimes in Croatia

Croatia –   Croatia has failed to qualify for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest three times in a row, but their Head of delegation Aleksandar Kostadinov has announced that Croatia will try their luck in Malmö despite the set-backs. It has not been revealed yet whether the national broadcaster HRT will go for an internal selection like this year, or whether the  national final DORA will be held again. Stay tuned for more on this issue!

This year Croatia came 12th in the second semi-final with Nina Badric:

They may not have qualified, but they sent a great song, which is more than some other countries who qualified can say.

  2. luludrops says:

That makes 24, can’t wait to reach the 40 mark ;)

Even though Nina didn’t make it to the final, she was honestly proud to be chosen. This is the cutest interview with her “And now directly they choose me. Finally!”

    Excellent news. :)

Unfortunately, Croatia was robbed big time this year. ‘Nebo’ is a fine song and Nina gave one of the mots convincing live performance of 2012, so confident, mature, conclusive and atmospherically dense. The vocals were excellent too. As a result of all this, ‘Nebo’ is in 6th place on my list. Of course bloody and silly televoting thought totally different …

I agree. Although Croatia is only in my 13th place for 2012, I still love the song and give her an 8/12 and wished for her qualification over some other songs that went through. Before the contest, she stood at a comfortable 7th in my ranking, and her performance kept the quality. She was just blown out of the water by some acts that had better lives than I was expecting.

I hope that after 3 years in a row, I will like again the Croatian entry; “nebo” was maybe an ok song, but it failed in making me go wow. If the choose for DORA once again, I hope that they’ll go for sth totally different than the 2011 fiasco. Best of luck.

  5. EMC says:

In my opinion, Croatia was robbed this year and also in 2010. They are my favorite Balkan nation and have many fantastic songs in their history. Next year I’d like them to use Dora and ask Dino Jelsuic (JESC 2003) to submit a song. He provides rock tunes that are different and he has a nice voice. All that should hopefully get them in to the final again.

  7. Croatia is my last of 2011 and did not deserve to qualify in my books for 2010 and 2012… it used to be once the most overrated esc country from the former yugoslav ones and now might be the most underrated one (though I don’t like the last three, I think that, in comparison to the songs that qualified, in 2012 it could have gone through)… I’m glad that doesn’t stop them from competing again and I hope for once a song that match Bosnia’s and Serbia’s efforts (ans as for last year, Macedonia’s)

Croatia and Slovenia deserved to qualify this year. Croatia in 2012 and 2010 definitely deserved to be in the final in my opinion.

  9. Eulenspiegel says:

    Wonderful to hear.

But please, Croatia, don’t just return Dora but bring it back to its splendour of the 90′s!

  10. Dimitry Latvia USA says:

I hope they will finally do well in 2013… It’s time.

  11. New Severina’s song “Italiana” would be good for ESC, but this would be the best option definitely:

Croatia, despite having slight tendencies to lean to the ‘corny’ side, has been robbed too many times. Just look at this year and 2010 for instance: They are both some of my favourites and ‘Lako Je Sve’ was my 4th favourite that year. I think if they keep it up eventually a ‘winner’ will come out and they will get the win they deserve.
