Germany – Norbert Berger alias Bert, the male part of the German schlager duo Cindy&Bert has died at the age of 66. Cindy&Bert represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 in Brighton with the song Sommermelodie and came 14th (and thus shared last). The husband and wife – duo went on to become one of the most successful schlager acts in Germany. Especially their hit Immer Wieder Sonntags has become amodern classic. Cindy&Bert went seperate ways in the 80s and got a divorce, but since 1994 they performed together again.
Our condolences go to Berger’s family and friends and his singing partner. Here is their Eurovision entry:

May he RIP.
They were quite popular in the Netherlands in the seventies. I think most Dutch can singalong with “Immer wieder Sonntags”. RIP
Typical how Greek style schlager music was so popular in the seventies. Vicky Leandros, Demis Roussos, Costa Cordalis were huge back then.
They were very prominent during my childhood and were regular guests on the ZDF Hitparade, which was the most popular music show on German TV in the 70s. I was never a fan though.
RIP
Sad news but in 1974 the looked old fashioned especially when you watched the likes of ABBA, NL, Israel even Greece’s singer had a modernish look ( for 1974 )
Always sad when someone passes away in a rather low age. 66 years is not much nowadays. Ruhe in Frieden.
Oh… Me sad again… With him and Uribarri’s death I’m very sad.. Rest in peace, you two!
I was sad to hear about it, too. So so R.I.P.
That’s sad…I remember, few Years ago “Immer wieder Sonntags” was honoured for being under the 10 most known German Songs ever. & Bert said, they 1st didn’t want to sing it, since they thought, it’s too stupid…but People still like it:)
Do you know “Spaniens Gitarren” & “Ich komm’ bald wieder”? So catchy Songs:)
