And What Is…Doing? – She wowed Eurovision fans, viewers and the audience at Moscow’s Olympiski Arena in 2009 with her song “Et S’il Fallait Le Faire“, which for some fans became a modern classic of the Eurovision Song Contest. This fall Patricia Kaas will return to the spotlight with a very special project: “Kaas Chante Piaf” (“Kaas Sings Piaf”) is her personal tribute to arguably the biggest female star of French music, the renowned Edith Piaf.

An album of 20 cover songs will be released in November 2012, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Piaf’s death. Accompanied by a symphonic orchestra of 80 musicians, Kaas will cover world hits such as Non, je ne regrette rien or La vie en rose. Golden Globe nominated producer Abel Korzeniowski will supervise the project, which is set to be released on November 5. From then on, Kaas will promote the album on a World Tour, which will be initiated in London’s Royal Albert Hall and will bring her to Berlin, New York’s Carnegie Hall and the Olympia in Paris.

She is one of the best singers who graced Eurovision stage – so much class, so much style… J’adore!

  2. I can’t wait to hear her sing these songs! I hope they’ll sell the album in Québec

I am looking forward to listening to Patricia Kaas’ tribute album.

Btw, remembering that she was beeten by wannabe artists like Hadise, Sakis etc. (and in televting by almost everyone), makes me feel embarrassed to be European even to this day. What a farce, disgrace and shame! There shouldn’t be songs and artists that are too good for ESC but unfortunately there are acts that are simply too refined and sophisticated result-wise. “Et s’il fallait le faire” is a true gem and remains in 1st place on both my post-2000 songs and performances lists. And no, I do not think that a performance is defined by undecently dressed people jumping around onstage, fireworks, dress changes and gimmicks. A performance is an interpretation of the song, and Patricia Kaas’ performance was just perfect. Unfortunately, I am pretty sure that most televoters notice people shaking it or ripping clothes off but not La Kaas’s subtle facial interpretation of her song.

Add me too to the list of those that eagerly waiting for her album release.
France 09 is one of the best songs and performances in the ESC ever. Period. I feel honoured as a ESC fan to have seen an artist like Patricia Kaas on the eurovision stage.

  5. It could be interesting but I’m not a huge fan of Patricia Kaas in general and doubt I could be enjoying Piaf’s work without Piaf herself (though I don’t deny it could be very well done and reach quality level, just that it’s not for me)… However, in esc world, Kaas is way up there of course, and of post-98-televoting era, my number 4 behind Siren, Suus and Lejla (which are all very close in my rankings, in my all time top 20 sitting outside my top 10 while Patricia Kaas, last time I checked, was my all time 22)

i found her dull boring and a bit scary and i take it the viewers thought the same seeing as she only placed 17th in the phone vote

I can’t wait to listen to her new album!I would also like it if she decides to work with some new material.I really liked her “Piano bar” album with many great covers of other well known songs.

  8. CC says:

I own to albums of her and like the song she performed at ESC too but I can see why it was a tad too boring for non-francophonic Europeans, particulary in Western Europe who (save the Dutch) ignored it completely.
Also the excessive appreciation for this woman is another typical case of Diva syndrome/fetish and hardly comprehendible to third parties I think.

  9. roselildk says:

I want that album!!! and I also want to join a concert with her in the nearest future!!!!

  10. France 2009 = 10/12 , simply because I give only one 12/12 per year and that goes to Estonia with the absolute perfection of “Randajad” !!!

Wonderful singer. I atended de concert in New york this week. Her Voice is one of the best. But in the concert There were only two player, the rest were music from the computer. I could not believe it. I really got frustration but I am sure she will correct this terrible mistake. Her music continues fantastic even this concert.
