Turkey – The Turkish national broadcaster TRT has told the Eurovision website escXtra.com through their twitter account, that they will be participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö. In recent year’s Turkey had internally selected its entry and except from 2011, when they failed to qualify for the final for the first time, had success with this format. Even though the selection method for 2013 has not been disclosed yet, another internal selection seems most likely.

Internal selection would be just fine. In any other case I’m afraid that they will come up with sth like Hadise or Kenan Dogulu stuff which I detest.
Haydeeee Türkiye!
That makes it 22. The contest happened not too long ago and we already have more than half the participants from last year confirming!
Keep those confirmations coming! And TRT, keep sending different things
Hey,
Haven’t seen you in a while! How are you doing?
No surprise here after the all over the place ethno mess they presented got generously rewarded once again from televote…Internal selection seems to have worked for Turkey but not the best stuff was always brought up..From the recent Turkish entries only 2010 was good IMO with 2008 being above average as well. And then the chaos..
they should use the instrument lute more in the music like in 1997.. this year we could only hear it few seconds in the intro.. internal selection is the best, I really dont trust the turkish televoters and their taste
I can’t even remember a Turkish national final.. when was the last one?
I dont know.. but I guess a hardcore fan like Toggie or other one will know it
I have no idea but you can always check on this site:

Now I have checked an CC is right: 2005!
ohh, I thought you knew everything ESC related
btw thanks for link
Compared to some other fans I am little more than a novice. There are people out there who know every composer, every lyricist, every backing singer and who gave how many points to which song for every single year …
that’s the aim ^^
argh Toggie! How could you not know! even I knew that :p
I made this comment cause I remember the turkish fans on esctoday were mentioning very cheap singers.. that could be a disaster!
In 2005.
Pourquoi?
TRT have not ‘failed’ in 2011 as they were still tenth. Internal selections are probably a wise choice even though I would like to have a song in Turkish now after all those years. The only bad song that ever came from Turkey is ‘We could be the same’ imho and I have learnt to appreciate their stuff especially since 1996.
10th? why do people try to ignore there is a NEW OFFICIAL voting system… to me Turkey 2011 finished 13th with 47pts
My point is that they still managed to convince Europe (barely though) which I believe is a merit. I also like the song personally.
what’s TRT’s goal? try to get at least in the top 10 in semi from televote? or qualify at least to the esc final and hope to get a full top 10 there? To that regard, Turkey managed to do so in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012 but not in 2011 so yeah, they did “fail” in 2011
ps: i do like the song and was glad when heard it the first time the internally chosen song was rockish again (as Turkey is my runner up in esc 2010) but the live was a disaster visually, they’re my 20th and therefore to me should have gone through though
I do not know but as a broadcaster my aim would be to be liked by the people. And they *did* qualify in 2011 with televoting. Nevertheless I expected it to be much clearer. To speak the full truth, they even would not have gone through had not it been for the San Marinese jury vote (and maybe Albanian, too? Gosh then it’d be indeed a big bust). Au contraire, trashy Manga came second the year before. Guess I shall never understand their appeal but so it works, tastes differ.
I almost always disliked their entries! maNga is only good one in recent years! they were great and had HQ performance!
I recognize it was very expensive stage performance! I liked it!
Recently, I’ve liked 2010 and 2012, and I recognize the quality in 2008, though the song is far from my personal taste. I’m glad their back, and I hope they bring something as good as the previously-mentioned entries.
yes, the even years are good, the odd ones not so much, fear the worst for 2013 lol
Agreed and signed!
Hello Patrick. Were you writting an editorial. How’s it going??
I was and am, but I seem to have gotten distracted from it (I have no reasonable excuse as to why it is not done at this very moment). I promise that it will be done it due time, but when I last sat down to write, it seemed that I didn’t have the inspiration and ended the session only a sentence further into the article.
Yay! Here’s to hoping TRT come up with another interesting choice like they did this year.
GOOD !
Now please get back to some quality stuff like 2008 or 2004.
2010 was a great show of an ok song.
2009 was brilliant for its genre but to be honest , stage presentation and Hadise’s non existant vocals were a disgrace !
2012 and especially 2011 go straight to the bin IMO !
It’s official according to ESC today and TRT, TRT are withdrawding! Hallujah Hallujah Hallujah…. Couldnt be anymore happier, this means we will more likely to see some old faces back in the final, hopefully
Plus Bosnia is leaving too a country which managed to qualify on every occasion in the semi finals, this means it could open some new doors for countries we havn’t seen ages in the final or rarely get in. Turkey withdraws becuase they are against the new 50% Jurry/ 50% Televote, becuase they would rather have block and disapora voting take place, and have eastern countries benefit while western ones fail. They are also in discontent with the big 5 status, claiming its ‘not fair’, but Turkey on most occasions you are garnteed a place in the final regardless of what shit and gimicy jokes you send, unlike countries like Netherlands! If they want big 5 status then maybe they should put more money in!
In contrast I’m actauly quite sadened about Bosnia’s departure, I realy saw potential in them
but then we can be sure they didnt withdraw becuase of results, becuase they have had superb results recently!
Looks as if the line up for the final will be very interesting now two regular qualifyers have left
Yeah, countries that send crap every year probably compared to the quality BiH and Turkey have (almost) always come up with. Sleep tight and celebrate, my dear ESC fascist …
These are 3 years when Bosnia didnt deserve qualify: 2004 extremely camp, cheesy cringeworthy vocals, 2008 was a nightmare of an entry, just one big joke/circus act, the fact it got a decent placing just takes the piss, definetly seemed to be on something when performing that entry, absolutely ecentric, then theres 2010 horrid rock entry with poor english and vocals, he should have sung in Bosnian.
2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012 have to be the 5 exceptional Bosnian Entries, full of quality that deserved to qualify
Turkey was exceptional and full of quality, I will definetly miss the rythmic Turkish und in their entries 2007, 2009 and 2010, MaNgA’s rock puts the driery and boring western (UK/USA) rock groups to shame, unlike wstern rock bands, MaNgA is ellectrifying and full of energy.
These where good but nothing like the other 3 above : 2004, 2005 and 2008.
But horrendus in 2006, 2011 and 2012, 2012 and 2011 dont know what the hell TRT where thinking, 2012 especially, I’m not going to vote for someone who looks as higher than the empire state on weed, ecentrically waving his hands about all the time and sounds like the voice off, of Scar – from the disney film the lion king, It didnt deserve to qualify as it was ecentric, the only thing good about it was the music in the background, the rest mad and cheap, too theatre for eurovision.
It’s nothing compared to the Eurotrash 75% of countries keep sending, SPECIALLY in the Big 5 (Italy aside, but that was quite unexpected honestly) considering that Italians don’t care, but RAI proved us that they care and weren’t going to have a bitchy attitude towards ESC, unlike the kind of Spain, France and the UK).
And btw, I’m not Turkish (because sadly we often have a turkish guy that will defend his country no matter why against blind eurofans, and nothing in-between. Consider this post as an in-between point of view (or to be more precise, an “out of the box” POV)
Come on guys Turkish got good singer than athers
