Netherlands -The Dutch website shownieuws.nl reports that the director of the Dutch Eurovision broadcaster TROS, Peter Kuipers has informed them that the 2013 Dutch national final for the Eurovision Song Contest will consist of six rounds. A six round national final would put the Netherlands in the same category as Sweden with their immensely popular Melodifestivalen. Whether the idea will be embraced by the Dutch television viewers remains to be seen.
This year the Netherlands held a national final with knock-out rounds that Joan Franka won with her song You and Me. Franka later failed to qualify for the Eurovision final, which is the 8th Dutch failure in a row. TROS had engaged popular television producer John de Mol for the selection process. He will produce the event once again this year.
UPD: National broadcaster TROS announced to songfestivalweblog.nl that the national song selection will take place in January with various artists performing their entries. Specific dates regarding submission deadlines have not yet been announced by TROS. Furthermore TROS have responded regarding the issue surrounding Anouk and have reiterated that there will be no internal selection for the 2013 Dutch representative. This will be decided through the national selection process. (Update by our new writer sagheer 783)
TROS has not official confirmed this yet.

yes pls more swedish stuff, we love ittttt!!!!
And I tink Bulgaria should follow this recipe!!! also with swedish composers pls.. Jurors will love it!
Irony?
I just want to see Netherlands and Bulgaria qualifying.. and I think it will work for them too
If they have so many shows, one can only hope that they will put a lot of effort into finding good songs. We already have more than enough big selection formats with only very few good songs.
NSF 2004 and 2005 had exactly this format. So it is not new for the Netherlands.
But in the end I don’t care about formats. Only the songs (and performers) matter.
This year surprisingly (because now almost all ESC related stuffs are bad) I liked Dutch NF, it had good songs and performances! i Think the wrong song has won!
P.S. “Dear” Toggie, You see that I’m not negative always, just when I think I should be!
(because now almost all ESC related stuffs are bad)
Now? Seriously? You are so full of shit. Just go if you hate Eurovision, what the hell are you doing here. Don’t you see that this is completely retarded to stay on a site and talk about something that you don’t like anymore? Get a life!
Regardless of the scale of the national final TROS decide to hold, it cannot guarantee a better result for the Netherlands. Joan Franka had the potential to do very well, but she butchered the song live with frankly (no pun intended
) poor vocals and a stage performance that was seen as a joke by people outside the ESC fanbase, who didn’t know the story behind the song and presentation.
So anyway, I wish good luck to the Netherlands for 2013, and hope they will finally qualify to the grand final after so many years stuck in the semis, but they need to remember that a complex selection process does not guarantee a good result at Eurovision.
I don’t believe, that there was a single Commentator, not mention the Story;)
& we know, Viewers voted her to the Final, so her Live Performance was good enough for them. Maybe she was bad in the Jury-Semifinal?
Hopefully the Netherlands will succed next year. Really liked you and me.
They really deserve to qualify for once. as do Bulgaria and Slovakia!
I think this is a great idea. There were many great songs from The Netherlands this year.
The downside was that Joan Franka was a weak performer despite her wonderful song.
Dutch people need to full package: great song + great performer.
I think they have a high chance of qualifying in the finals next year if they change the format around a little.
The Netherlands could have 100s of songs in their preselection, but if the songs aren’t good then there’s no point. Instead of casting around for Idol rejects and planning expensive selections, TROS should be asking big name singers who could get the result to compete. As I’ve stated before, the Netherlands has Sharon den Adel, Simone Simmons, Anekke van Giersbergen, Charlotte Wessels, Mano, Brandi Russel, and Ralf Mackenbach. I’m not saying any of these people would do Eurovision but it’s worth a shot to ask. I don’t blame the Dutch people for their failures, I blame TROS. Their broadcaster needs to realize that they might have a nice song but their singer needs a good performance too. Why don’t they do what Bulgaria did and ask the fans opinions on the Dutch entry for Eurovision 2013?
