Sweden – The winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, Loreen, performed on one of the most popular Swedish television shows last night in Skansen in Stockholm. She performed her winning entry “Euphoria” with a new drum intro and accompanied by strong drums. Allsång på Skansen (Sing-along at Skansen) is an annual concert series during the summer in Sweden, where many stars of the Swedish music scene appear and the audience is supposed to sing along to their hits.

Here is Loreen’s performance:

  1. remember a year ago when we screamed at the injustice of “My Heart Is Refusing Me” to not even have qualified to MF final?

& Don’t forget Alexander Rybak & Charlotte Perelli/Nilsson were there as well:)

    • Eulenspiegel says:

      And Lasse Holm! :)

Yes, it was a real MF/ESC party. Guess that’s what takes to make real sing-a-long parties in Sweden. Sing-a-long is very popular among us Swedes, and schlager is the most easy way to sing-a-long, so maybe that’s the key behing our schlager hype.

      • Lucky12b says:

Haha, that’s right:) In Germany, Schlager is very popular as well, but many People are afraid of being old-fashioned if they out themselves to be Fans. & so they only hear it at Carneval & Oktoberfest…that’s a big Pity, I think & Medias even support them. I’m sure: an ” Allsång på Konstanz” (since this City is almost in the Middle between Germany, Austria & Switzerland on great Bodensee) could be great Success, too:)

PS: I am a great Fan of Måns Zelmerlöw, as well. Do you think, he has good Chances to moderate ESC next Year, since he already made Melodifestivalen & Allsång på Skansen?:)

        • He is among the rumores names… with Dina, Sarah Dawn Finer and even Helena Paparizou

        • Eulenspiegel says:

Yes, Måns is a very good host, and I think the odds are quite good that he will host ESC next year. He has said, though, that he would like to represent Sweden next year, so maybe we’ll see him as a contester i MF instead.

          • Lucky12b says:

Oh, that would be so great, if he would return to Melodifestivalen. I love his Songs so much, even wrote a German Version of “Cara mia”:)

            • JJ says:

You wrote a German version? Can you share it with us?

              • Lucky12b says:

Are you really interested? What an Honour:)

To be honest: I tried to record it for YouTube for several Times, but never managed it in acceptable Quality, since I’m no Expert for Computers. I wrote many other German Versions of ESC-Songs like Take me to your Heaven, Fångad av en Stormvind, Give me your Love, I do, Northern Girl, Once in a Life Time…& Preselection Songs like Caravaggio or Mandoline. & I sing them on smaller Parties & Family Festivals…& sometimes on the Streets:)

But I promise you: as soon as I find a Way to record them, I will post it on this Side (as long as the Manager allows it, of Course:)

            • Eulenspiegel says:

              Wow, impressive!

The best song related to Måns is, I think, the song “Shine” he wrote for the Romanian final in 2008, which in the end did finish on 2nd place. It’s this kind of operatic ballad that Il Divo does and which often is very tacky, but there’s something with “Shine” i really like.

Some interesting thing I thought about when you mentioned schlager in Germany, as considered old-fashioned and silly. Allsång på Skansen was originally a very old-fashioned program, made for grannies and grandpas. It’s repertoire was made up of Swedish folk ballads mostly made of Evert Taube, and one or another dansband song. But when Lasse Berghagen (Sweden 1975, yes you can make an ESC connection with almost everything in Sweden) took over the program in the 90′s, it started to develop into a family program instead. And during the last years, it has become a program for mostly young people. Pop and rock is there together with Evert Taube. But also schlager and dansband, which actually is popular among teenagers now. That kind of music that once was considered as the most silly and outdated music in the world, is now a music genre that young people in Sweden are dancing to. Strange.

              • Lucky12b says:

Aha, wow. A Friend from Sweden told me, that many of the Songs were already sung by her Grandma in the 70s at Allsång på Skansen. & if it’s popular since only few Years, we wouldn’t need even Tradition to have something similar. For me, this is such a wonderful Idea, that there are old Schlager next to new Stuff & everybody knows the Songs & sings together. In German Countries we have a Show called “Musikantenstadl” (Pub for Musicians). It’s much dedicated to Alpine Music & it’s no Singalong, but some Songs are Traditional & some are actual & the whole Audition sings. I’m sure, this could be changed to a similar Show like Allsång på Skansen if 1 Day, they need Viewers;)

                • Eulenspiegel says:

Yes, I think it would work. There is not many music styles that can make me smile so much like Alpine music, or German Volksmusik. And in the 60′s, most of Swedish schlager songs were translated songs originally from Germany, like my favourite “Der Graf von Luxemburg”. But when the 60′s turned into 70′s, German schlager became less popular among Swedes who turned their faces towards America instead, and therefore the bond between Sweden and Germany became weaker. :(

Btw, do you know where this video is shot. It looks like a really jolly festival.

                  • Lucky12b says:

Haha, you know “Der Graf von Luxemburg”! That’t great:)
I always call Volksmusik in English “Alpine Music” so People form abroad can handle better with it, but I meant exactly this:D. It’s very happy & most Germans don’t know the Difference between Volksmusik & Schlager…
Yes, it’s so pity, that Music got so American here. The other Way, several Scandinavian Singer went popular in Germany. Gitte, Siw & Wenche didn’t only take Part in ESC, they are still famous here.It looks like Germans weren’t allowed to be happy & so we boughed all our Schlager-Singers from abroad;) I knew, that some Songs were translated to Swedish, but not, that they even heard the German Songs:D

& Yes, I really know, were this Video was shot, it’s Frankfurt! It’s from old Entertainment Program “Zum Blauen Bock” the Forerunner of Musikantenstadl until the 80s. They wanted to simulate a Hessian Apple-Wine-Pub (you see the Seal of Hesse on the Bar) inside to build a homely & happy Atmosphere:D

  3. Mans and Charlotte Perrelli with Tusen och en natt (Swedish version of Take me to your heaven)

  4. Sensational like always !!!
Sweden 12 , Serbia 07 and Norway 95 are the ONLY worthy winners since I’ve been watching esc IMO !
