Sweden – 2012 has not been a good year for Swedish Eurovision winner Charlotte Perrelli (1999, 2008) so far. With the song “The Girl” she failed to even qualify for the Melodifestivalen final this year. Apart form that she has trouble with her ex-husband Nicola Perrelli. The Italian, that Perrelli married in 2003, wants Charlotte to change her last name to her maiden name Nilsson. He told a newspaper: “We are divorced now and I want my last name back! I’m not a Sweden, I am Italian and it works like that in Italy! My mother also does not want her to keep the name. It’s her maiden name, so I think she has the last word.”
So will Charlotte Perrelli soon be Charlotte Nilsson again? All in all it may be a good change for her. Under the name Nilsson she had won the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 after all, when she returned in 2008 under the name of Perrelli she only came 18th.
As if that wasn’t enough, she also recently was injured in a car crash. At a building site she had already slowed down when someone crashed into her from behind. “As I have a coupling device, my car stayed undamaged,” said Perrelli. However, she got a whiplash and a concussion and had to be sent to a hospital. On a lighter note, she will play Evita in a musical in Malmö. She says that she has creat fun during the rehearsals.

”…she returned in 2008 under the name of Niellson…” wasn’t it Perelli?
crap ^^ sorry and thanks!
Nilsson*
So because it works like that in Italy, it should also work like that in Sweden. Strange reasoning.
Also nice to read that his mother doesn’t approve. Doesn’t that live up to all existing prejudices.
Agreed. It’s Swedish laws that count and if she wants to remain like that, both as a Swedish citizen and as an artist, she’s entitled too. They’re divorced which exactly means she has no order to receive from him or his family, no? Of course she can also hear what he wants to say and for his sake do it, but that’s only HER decision. In France, women can chose to take the husband’s name or not and in divorce, chose to keep it or not. It’s up to Women (I still find it an insane and stupidly old fashion tradition, why can’t Men take the Women’s name too then? and for gay marriages?)
I still have Sweden as my clear 99 winner. The only other song I’d consider is Dino’s but it tends to get boring after 2 minutes and Dino is already my 2011 winner. Charlotte is incredible in live performances and she reached her best in esc 99 in what must be the best schlager ever in esc.

I think, it’s Charlottes Decision, but go back to Nilsson wouldn’t be bad at all. Maybe she only takes Perellis Name because he is angry about it;)
Sekhmet Morgan, in Germany, it’s possible, that Men take their Wifes Name. My Brother in Law took the Name of my Sister, because if he didn’t her Daughter would have another Name than her:D. I don’t know, how they handle it with gay Weddings (my State is the only in Germany, were gay Marriages are still impossible), but I think it’s the same (in the 15 other States of Course;).
SerBhus or Servus?????
