  2. Sean says:

There is nothing like worst winner.Taste differs and remember all winners got the most support in the year they are competing

  3. guitaristbl says:

A tough one…I agree with the vast majority of winners in the pre televoting era but I ll try to keep the balances. So :

    1. Ireland 1992
    2. Ukraine 2004
    3. Belgium 1986
    4. The Netherlands 1957
    5. Russia 2008

Finland 2006 and Yugoslavia 1989 are pretty close as well. But these are pretty much the only winners I would call bad.

  4. Steve Goode says:

Worst= Italy 1990 followed by Israel 1978 then Ireland 1987

  5. Lucky12b says:

Haha, my Number 1 is Italy 1990, too, Steve:D
The Pity at these is, that we remember new Songs more than older & so, most of the Ranking will be from 90s up, even if nobody of us listens regulary to “Refrain”, Songs from this Aera will not be there, I think…
my worst, in Order of Time:
Luxembourg 1983, Belgium 1986, Italy 1990, Ireland 1993 & 1994, Norway 1995, Estonia 2001 & Germany 2010…of Course, most of them are not really bad. But they are simply not my Taste:)

I like Ireland 1993 and love Ireland 1994, which I rank as one of the best winning songs ever. On the other hand, I do not like any of Ireland’s other 5 winning songs, in particular 1970, 1992 and 1996. Gosh! Eimear’s constant breathing gets on my nerves. The song should have been called ‘The Breath’ instead of ‘The Voice’

      Anyway … celebrate diversity! :)

      • togravus says:

Btw, I listen to the older ESC songs more frequently than to most post-1990 songs. In fact, Belgium 1968, Sweden 1967, Luxemburg 1965, Denmark 1963 and some other songs from the 60s top my ESC playlist. :)

I had Italy last in 1990 and was totally gobsmacked when it won and had Spain 1st

    • togravus says:

I had Spain 2nd in 1990 (Belgium 1st) but liked Italy too. I have never understood why there is such a strong dislike for ‘Insieme’ in the fan community. The song is not a masterpiece but nice enough imo (at least in the context of ESC in the late 80s/early 90s) and Toto’s vocals were among the best that night more than 20 years ago.

  7. roselildk says:

Sweden wins this for me 3 times in the history: 1991, 1984 and 2012.. I dont get the hype with their music, maybe thats just me :) but I couldn’t care

    • togravus says:

Hello sweet Roselil, don’t you worry, it is not only you. I agree that 1984 and 1991 are among the most undeserved winners ever. I am not a fan of ‘Euphoria’ either but at least I can understand the appeal of that song. What still suprises me though is that Loreen was heavily voted by people 60+ at our party whereas everyone else thought that it was a nice enough effort but then found a couple of songs they liked more to vote for.

I hope that you are fine. Gosh! it is terribly hot and humid here in Stuttgart. Thunderstorms every day for the last week …

      • roselildk says:

Hi Toggie, nice that you agree on 2 of them :) yes you are night the latest one is more disco new modern tune and people like it.. its summer after all!! also here.. not very hot but its nice, I like as it is… I have been travelling a lot to Copenhagen lately, for love, for job, for etc.. how are you?? travelling again??

        • togravus says:

No travelling this year. :( I have a huge business assignment until the end of October. I think about visiting Cyprus in November (I have always wanted to see the Troodos Monasteries …), and then I will do my 3 months tour of the Balkans next year … at least all that working 12 hours every day needs to be put to a worthwhile use …

          • roselildk says:

ohh!!! I was used to read about your travelling,, btw we also need capital for these kind of travellings, so there is some lights in the end of tunnel :) I didnt decide yet, maybe a short tour to Istanbul with my boyfriend and maybe to Antioch (this will be alone)

            • togravus says:

Oh! you have a bf again. That’s sweet. A girl like you deserves a great guy! Congrats! :)
And if everything works out the way I have planned, you can read about my travellings next year … Slovenia, Croatia, BiH, Albania, Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia … OMG, I wish that it was 2013 already …
