Jedward: Eurovision Return for Any Country

Posted: July 1, 2012 by eurovisiontimes in Ireland

Ireland – The hyperactive twins of Jedward do apparently not have enough of Eurovision. The brothers Grimes represented Ireland in 2011 and 2012. Their participation this year ended in an underwhelming 19th place. Nevertheless, they want to return to the Eurovision stage as early as next year. However, this time they may not represent their native country, but a different European nation. John told the newspaper Daily Star that they may fly the flag for another country: “Germany and all those countries want us to represent them. Loads of countries want us to represent them next year, who knows OK,” said John. We’ll see how much of this is whishfull thinking, so stay tuned!

    Are they that desparate?!

off topic: España vs Italia tonight. I have a soft spot for Spain and the football style they play, but Italy deserve the trophy too, especially after their impressive performances against England and Germany.

Arriba La Roja, Forza Italia! :D

    Check out this interview:

They say they’re already talking to Stefan Raab. I’d expect to maybe see them on the Unser Star für … programme in Germany, as in helping to pick the next entrant rather than enter themselves maybe?? Stefan likes them and knows they’ll pull viewers though.

  3. togravus says:

No! Please go away and stay away … and never go near anything related to singing again.

Good luck to Italy and Spain tonight. My favorite German football commentator said that watching the Spanish national team was like watching your granny knit. It was meant to be a compliment, I guess, and if it was, I agree. It is very conforting to watch La roja play … it makes you feel safe. :)

  4. Shevek says:

This reeks of desperation. Please catch the next available means of transport to Nowhere Land!

  5. That’s more a hint towards the UK obviously. Dunno how well they are known in Germany where they took part and finished 8th, but in France they’re still unknown for sure and I doubt Eastern European countries will be glad to send some Irish rejects.

    • Scott Hirst says:

Lithuania or Latvia would probably be the only two countries that would bother to send wierd crap like them LOL! both have such bad tastes in music which has being shown by some of the cheesy entries sent to ESC and some of the poor and tacky entries sent to both JESC and the ESC. UK are likely too seen as the BBC still seem to be living in the past with eurovision. So if they did retun it would be likely to be these 3 countries, wouldnt get any of the Balkan or other former USSR countries having them, and I’m sure if they went into the scandanvian national finals the danish, norwegians and swedish would have some sense not to send them. San Marino or Austria might send them though?

  6. dimitrisesc says:

I think that the German broadcaster is wise enough not to go for Jedward!

I will be rooting for Spain tonight even though Italy deserves it as well.

  7. Shevek says:

Off topic: I’ll be rooting for the team who plays the best football. My mind tells me that Spain is the best team, but I have always loved the way the Italians manage to beat teams that are, theoretically, better than them. Good luck.

Even more off topic: ESC Today seems to have become a deserted place. Time changes things.

  8. dimitrisesc says:

    to get in the mood

  9. tehoe says:

No, please. I just don’t want any more Jedward!

  10. JKF Irish says:

Ah Lads. John and Edward. You know you will never win. Ireland really does respect you as being two honurable hard working guys. Going with the competition wont improve your chances.

You need to either reinvent yourselves of milk the teeny bopper market dry while you still can.

  11. Bradley says:

There desperate stay away from the UK in fact dont come back to Eurovision Hope Ireland sends U2 it be great for them

  12. Anon says:

Jedward gave a boost of back-stage interest with their cheerful attitude (even if it’s fake I don’t really care, it’s fun!) in 2011 (a year that needed it because 2011 sucked) and specially 2012 with their Youtube videos (“Jedward building the Crystal hall” vidéo was funny xD).
I hope they come back for next season even if they don’t represent anyone in the end (Recently i don’t even care about ESC itself, the season rocks)

  13. Anonymous says:

i m italian, congratulationSpain!Maybe Jedwards can rappresenting San Marino:This year in semifinal gives 12 points to Ireland!!

  14. Anonymous says:

Stupid juries voted them 25th in the final. If it wasn’t for them, they would have came 10th and maybe be satisfied enough to stop. Their enjoyable but if they carry on they’ll be really old school…

  15. Kalevi says:

I think most people would agree if I said I hope they never come back to Eurovision for any country.

  16. guitaristbl says:

Of course they are always going to be welcome..They offered to esc exactly what it lacked : An eccentric yet sophisticated view on pop music and thankfully they were appreciated by a big share of the audience. People with conservative views on music will continue to hate them, those who can understand them will continue to appreciate them, no big deal. Please guys come back with any country ! The success is guaranteed :)

  17. Steve Goode says:

If another country takes them on then they should be banned forever

  18. Asiavision says:

    they should represent antartica..
