Loreen Won’t Return To Eurovision

Posted: June 21, 2012 by eurovisiontimes in Sweden

Sweden – At this year’s winner’s press conference, Loreen was asked whether she would follow in Lena’s footsteps and return to Eurovision to defend her title. Loreen turned to Christer Björkman and asked him “Well, what do you think?” to then reply: “Maybe”. Now she has relativized this. In an interview with German website promiflash.de, she said: “To be honest I will not do it again. I will give the spotlight to other artists. I have done my part and will withdraw myself from Eurovision to give other great, young artists the possibility to present themselves. It’s their time, their turn.”

Wise choice Loreen. I think Sweden can have a better chance winning back to back with a new artists (Not Danny please!) Plus I think she can pull off Johnny Logan move and wait another 5 years or so and come back to the contest and win again

I agree with her. Sweden has many good artists as far as I know (and as it has already been said, Danny is most certainly NOT one of them) who would keep a respectable top 5 for Sweden.

Why all the fuss about the singing? Has she ever *written* an own song? In ESC I care more about melodies than interpreters.

Loreen co-wrote “My Heart Is Refusing Me”, as well as the majority of the songs on her upcoming album, which is more than most ESC performers. Regardless, singing and songwriting are two very different talents…
