Ireland: Odds Are For Leanne Moore For Eurovision 2013

Posted: June 21, 2012 by eurovisiontimes in Ireland

Ireland – Only one month after the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 has come to an end, booking websites have already turned to the next edition. At Paddy Power, user can bet on who will represent Ireland in 2013 in Sweden. The winner at the moment is Leanne Moore. She won the casting show “You’re A Star” shortly after it ceased to be the Irish national final. Moore then tried to represent Ireland in 2010 with the song Does Heaven need much more?”, but only came 4th in the national final.

The other names in contention on the betting website are Jedward, Johnny Logan, Boyzone’s Mikey Graham and Girls Aloud’s Nadine Coyle. Who would you like to represent Ireland?

definitely not jedward. you see what sweden did was listen to the type of music was out at the time and thats what ireland needs to do. plus the eurovision is becoming more and more popular for young people, and most old people dont know how to vote, so we need to appeal to younger people just like norway, germany and sweden did in recent years!

we also need something thats different but people will still like!

I don’t care who represents Ireland, but NO MORE JEDWARD! I don’t think I can handle Jedward mania anymore

  3. tehoe says:

Jedward? Haven’t they already (fortunately) confirmed that they will not return in 2013?

Whatever, I just wish Ireland would send something like “The Voice”.

  4. Steve gray says:

nikki kavangh or yeah even leanne moore depends on the song really it be leannes third time in a row at eurovision for Ireland if she does as she was one of jedwards backing singers last two years now at eurovision.

  5. CC says:

It is time for an entry in Irish!

  6. tt says:

why not have a national contest to find a entry to send , charge a registration fee that fee goes to the winning singers chosen charity , why do we revert all the time to singers that have been in the spot light but cleary dont have a chance of winning regardless of experience or song . run a national campaign to find five songs from song writers instead of handing it to the rest of europe to pick a song writen by a non national , both contest for singer and song choice could run side by side throughout the campaign ??????????? just a thought

After Jedward and everything they have brought in the contest it’s going to be a difficult next step for Ireland..I am not fond of Leanne Moore though..I really doubt that anyone can bring the success to Ireland the twins did (ok except U2 maybe :P )

  8. Steve gray says:

There is alot of undiscovered talent in Ireland but seems like you have to have some connection with rte to get noticed which issues unfair indeed.

  9. Scott Hirst says:

Love them to turn WB Yeats Easter 1916 or Stollen Child into a song, both are folk ballads, Stollen child in particular would be a great poem to trun into an entry, It would showcase Irish Mythology and Culture aswell as Literature. The poem has a real folk lilt to it and features an escape into a dreamy watery world of the sídhe faries. (Shee)

The perfect entry would be something new and fresh. Something unfamiliar to the World. We should use the Eurovision as a launching platform and put Ireland out there for the people of Ireland to once again stand tall and be proud as a nation in Europe. For God’s sake we’re only shying our way around Europe at the moment. OK, the Eurovision isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but 100 million people watched it in 2012. Ireland needs something original and something that won’t continue the embarrassment we’ve had presenting talentless imbeciles. I believe if the talent is good enough, the people of Europe can be wowed and they will genuinely vote right. The talent is just not there in comparison of decades gone by. ABBA used this platform and became one of the biggest acts of all-time. I came across this new Irish group the other day who are just serious, raw Irish talent. Looking into them in more detail they seem to be overqualified if you ask me. 3 beautiful Irish girls wasted with their talent. They write their own songs and they also put Celtic twists on already established well known songs. I would love to see our national emblem, the harp, on stage for all of Europe to see. This is Affinití and their recent cover of “My Immortal”.

Ireland are the leaders in the eurovision.they won 7 times and i know they can win again if they have the right song sung by the right person

  13. Eur-the-1 says:

    That group Affinití are class!

  14. Layla says:

Yer man Holden from The High Kings should be asked. Great singer and easy on the eye.

  15. I'm happy says:

I think Jedward Should represent Irland.
They are Great, They only got the wrong Songs. With the right Song they will win!!! And It’s funnier to watch the ESC with jedward!!!!

    • maria junttila says:

  16. maria junttila says:
