Eurovision 2013: Does Globen Still Stand a Chance?

Posted: June 21, 2012 by eurovisiontimes in Eurovision Song Contest 2013, Sweden

Sweden – Yesterday the submission deadline of venues for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 ended. Both Malmö (Malmö Arena) and Stockholm (Friends Arena) submitted bits according to poplight.se. Today eurosong.be reports that the owners of the Globen Arena (host of countless Melodifestivalen finals and Eurovision 2000) asked to move the contest to a later date. During Eurovision weeks, the Ice Hockey World Championship will be held in Globen. They are backed by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, which contacted the Swedish national broadcaster SVT as they think that “two major international events in the same period in the same city is no good“.

It seems unlikely that Globen has submitted a bit, but SVT has not revealed any more detailed information yet, so anything may still be possible.

So basically, no. What’s the point of this article – filling front page space?
