Denmark: Jury Results Revealed

Denmark – The results of the Jury vote in Denmark have been revealed, and they show large disagreements between the Danish jury and the Danish public. According to Danish website dr.dk, the Danish TV viewers loved the grandmothers from Russia and the power ballad from Iceland. The jury however favoured europop from Cyprus, Spain, Greece and Israel.

Both jury and viewers agreed on the Swedish winner Loreen, and Roman Lob from Germany. The Danish public voted for Ireland’s Jedward, and Turkey’s Can Bonomo, unlike the jury, and did now show any la la love for Cyprus.

The Danish jury consisted of the Grand Prix queen Birthe Kjær and former participants Bryan Rice and Yanne Friis (alias Aya), along with DJ and producer Kenneth Bager and DAD-drummer mm.

I think it’s pretty clear now that Russia won the televote and juries pushed Sweden to the victory.

    • lovetrain says:

if that is true it is the best argument for the juries. it’s much better to have sweden as the winner than russia. sweden was favourite in all polls and betting odds before the contest and sweden is now number one in most of the charts all over europe. russia is a bad song with a great performance and it is a perfect number two. but having the grannies as the winner would have been the ruin of the esc.

  2. tehoe says:

There’s something I also noticed in Finland’s voting: I like the televoting result MUCH more than the jury vote, which was rather dumb (points for Romania, Greece and Cyprus and nothing for Serbia or Iceland? hmph). I think Scandinavian countries tend to choose stupid “professional” juries which unfortunately attempt to diminish the good music taste that nordic peope generally have – a pity if you ask me. The same thing happened in 2000, when the Finnish jury prevented Nightwish from entering the contest.

Jury points for Russia, Austria, Greece and Cyprus? No comment because I do not want to use four letter words …

  4. WOW! I am really disappointed, that the danish jury gave points for Russia and Austria…. I thought the jury would vote for the song, not the show or the entertainment….. And I live in Denmark….

  5. Anonymous says:

Amazing when a jury gives 7 points to a dreadful Greek song and ignores the master piece that was Iceland.

The Danish jurors are jokers and pokers and whatever the blond Georgian said. GRRR

  9. roselildk says:

I am happy jurors liked Albania and Italy more than televoters, it was the only 2 countries I voted for.. still hate Swedens 12 pts!! grrr

  10. Scott Hirst says:

That just shows there must be a lot of deaf danish people out there Isreal 10 points from Jury?? Russia and Austria get points?? and no points from the Jury to Iceland?

  11. Scott Hirst says:

Unless Danish can’#t tell the difference between a flat note and a note sang in tune, and the difference between a song sang in English and the countries national langauge. Sorry but I just can’t get other the 10 jury points for Isreal in the Semi. This exactly why we need an international jury made of of well known and proffesional musicians/song writters. I’m sure some of the American or Australian artists would never award Isreal or Austria for points for their entries this year.

    • The points from each country are supposed to reflect the taste of that country.. An international jury is the worst idea ever! I don’t want Americans to vote on Eurovision… I want Europeans to vote… If the next jury votes according to your taste I guess you will rapidly change your opinion…

      • CC says:

If there points were to reflect the taste of the respective country any kind of jury would be equally bad. I would not mind an international jury (though not only from anglophone continents but also from Africa, Asia, Ibero America, …) this could be an interesting element actually. However, they should announce their votes separately and transparent then as EVERY jury should do. Also, the members should be known.

      • tehoe says:

I agree the points should reflect the taste of the country, but you can’t say that songs like Greece, Romania and Cyprus are the taste of Danish people. No, they know better than that.

        • CC says:

That is why the jury voted for them, and not the Danish public. You cannot have both, a small jury to help certain kind of songs and at the same time a vote that awards its points exactly to the viewers’ favourites. I for once am against having juries in the contest but I stay loyal to my opinion and would not applaude them when one bunch occasionally likes the same songs that I do.
Asians as well as Europeans are smart enough and do not need to be patronised imho.

This is a more serious comment than above: International Jury or not there still needs to be a clear and strict criteria laid down by the EBU all National Juries must follow when awarding points to entries. There needs to be a whole round emphasis on Live Vocal Performance, Choegraphy/Stagging, Music Quality, Diction and EnglishPronunciation , and Finally the lyrics of the song. I’m not convinced that the Jurry members actauuly know what they are talking about when awarding points, even our countries Jury I feel has its flaws, most aren’t even well known proffessionals in the music industry. Only Musical proffessionals should be able to be Jurry members. Preferably I’d perfer it if they removed the National Jury in each country alltogether, and only had 10 or 12 Jury members all well known musical proffessionals to award points.

    • pointless_nostalgic says:

we don’t need international juries. We just need professional juries and with no eurovision fans in them.

  12. Marc Panozzo says:

Quite a few poor choices here: Austria (2), Russia (3), Cyprus (4), Greece (7)… really??
Still, I like the fact the Danish jurors gave Izabo and their fantastic song 10 points, even though they only scored 3 in the combined Danish voting. Israel received six points in the combined vote from Austria though, which means that they could have possibly got 12 points from the jury there?

    • togravus says:

I am very happy to learn that there is another one who supported Israel this year. Unfortunately, we seem to be a rather small Izabo fan club …

      • Marc Panozzo says:

Yes, Israel were number three on my list this year (behind Sweden and Albania) and I fail to understand how they didn’t make the final. “Time” was one of the best up-tempo songs this year and sounded original. I think the result might end up being a similar situation to Estonia 2010 (another one of my favourites from this decade) which whilst being embraced by the juries (8th or 9th I think) was virtually ignored by the televoters (second last). Still, regardless of their result, which I get the feeling Izabo weren’t too concerned about, they have at least found two new fans!!

        • togravus says:

Fortunately there are some more. Oxi f. e. has Izabo in first place on his 2012 list.
Btw, I love Estonia 2010 too, and Morgan has ‘Siren’ in 1st place on his list. We are a strange bunch of people here compared to most other fan sites. ;) :)

  13. dimitrisesc says:

This jury gave 12 pts to Moldova and no pts to Iceland in the semi???Whatever…I’m a bit comfused atm.I thought Greece was really low with the juries in the semi but with the current results,i don’t know if this is really true.Plus,i don’t thik Russia was ignored by the juries as some people imply.Another 6 pts from the Danish jury in the final.

  14. Dino Mil says:

Another jury voting for us….! I can’t believe this! N

  15. Dino Mil says:

No votes from tele-voting at all?
