Eurovision 2012: Several Terrorist Attacks Allegedly Averted

Posted: May 30, 2012 by eurovisiontimes in Azerbaijan, Eurovision Knockout 2012

Azerbaijan – According to several websites, the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 may have been seriously in peril of a terrorist attack. Allegedly, the Azeri officials arrested 40 people who were planning a terrorist attack on the Baku Crystal Hall. Members of the group had “tickets for Eurovision in order to commit a terroristic attack in the Hall during the final.”

Azeri security officials said: “The group was planning an attack in the concert hall where the competition was held as well as other attacks against President Ilham Aliyev, police stations, hotels where foreigners were housed and against places of worship.” The mention of president Aliyev makes me a little sceptical. May this just be used to get rid of certain unwanted people?

The security services have arrested suspected members of the group during separate operations in Baku, in the cities of Ganja and Sumgait and in several parts of the country, the ministry said without specifying the date of arrest.
Some group members have offered resistance and were killed, added the ministry.

“The Ministry of National Security has chosen not to reveal this information during the Eurovision to avoid creating a panic among citizens and foreign guests,” the ministry added.

I’m a bit skeptical about this too. I don’t really see why they would target both Eurovision and president Aliyev.
However, if this is true (and I’m not denying it), they made a mistake by not revealing it during the Eurovision week. Yes, it may have created panic, but the people should have known that there was an attack planned. Maybe some of them wouldn’t have wanted to take the risk of going to the show anymore, even if the terrorists were caught.

Or it could be a perfectly well orchestrated operation planned by Aliyev to eliminate some of his political enemies or activists under the “eurovision threat” excuse..Really I can’t believe a single word..

OK, you guys have just no clue what pressure Azerbaijan is under and that there are many outside powers who want to see both Aliev dead and Azerbaijan’s image tarnished and Azerbaijan destroyed. If any of you knew the reality, none of you would support this “human rights” issue in Azerbaijan… C’mon, study history maybe? Study modern geopolitics of the post USSR reality: what? and why?s
