Finally, after 5 years one of my favorites win! <3 So happy. I just finished watching the show with friends an hour ago.

  3. Denise Taylor says:

Loved Sweden !! But loved NorwayGermany and France too !! Englebert did his best but there were actually some good songs snd he got lost in the mix Add that to being first performer and it doesn’t bode well Didn’t understand how Serbia did so well Thought their entry was dreary !! And FYR Macedonia was scary!’ Suppose that’s what keeps us coming back every year-it’s bonkers !! Loved Graham Norton!! Thought Terry Wigan would be a hard act to follow but Graham does it magnificently!! Long live Eurovision!!!!!

  4. Landslide victory for Sweden, I did a quick calculation and they got nearlyy 76% of the available vote (or an average of 9.07 from each country). It wasn’t my favourite song, but I like it at least and that’s an improvement on the last two years.

There were some great performances last night, unfortunately not always recognised. Much of the voting followed the same well worn pattern, it has become embarrassing to watch. Greece and Ukraine both became a bit unstuck (probably because of the jures), but their big supporters still voted or them. Poor Norway ended last for the 11th time. The UK just managed to escape that fate, I didn’t expect it to be anywhere near the top, but second last seemed rather harsh, compared to some of the songs and performances that were higher up. I expected B & H, Denmark and Iceland all to do better and I’m surprised that Lithuania did as well as it did.

Yet more over- produced, mechanical 1990s tat from someone who got a mixing desk for Christmas. Woman does some Japanese horror film moves under a 9000 watt hairdrier and enough lazers to cut through the Earth’s crust. Am I supposed to be impressed with that?
Rona Nishliu; one perfect singer+one outstanding song . No crap. 100% guarranteed.

  6. skgambassadortoesc says:

Congratulations to Loreen and Sweden! Her performance was very good (no surprise there) and therefore a deserved winner I guess.

Now that I take a look once again on the score-board, I can say that this year’s ESC turned out to be so very predictable result-wise, since almost all the pre-contest favourites to win, namely: Sweden, Russia, Serbia, did very well; perhaps only Italy did worse than expected.
For me it was quite a let down in the first place since my absolute favourite entry didn’t compete in the final, but anyway…
I’m so glad for Rona, Can, Ott and for the fact that mi querida España did well after so many years; one observation here though: if Spain, by sending such a great singer as Pastora and a song that, no matter if one likes it or not, has the so called “recipe” to actually win the contest, can only manage to narrowly enter the top10, then I can’t imagine them ever winning (sigh).
The biggest disappointment for me was Iceland; their performance was far from flawless imho. On the other hand, Compact disco and especially Kaliopi deserved a lot more.
Re: my country’s bad result (well, given the song, it was actually a “triumph”), I think that ERT should, at least for once, consider changing their ESC approach, leave aside the record companies (who only care about promoting their own interests), and take advantage of the fact that there are so many great musicians (singers, composers, lyricists) in Greece and give them a chance.

Good luck in hosting ESC 2013 Sverige!

Btw, any guesses on which will the host city be? Probably Stockholm and that new venue they had been building?

Sorry for the long post :)

    • Shevek says:

On Iceland: they made a serious mistake when they opted for English. The song lost some of its mysterious charm; moreover, Jonsi did not rise to the occasion, he sounded much better in the Incelandic NF.

    • Dino Mil says:

Exactly Oxi, our Greece has many talents (and musdic diversity of course). I am looking forward to this change! I hope the financial crisis will not prevent seeing Greece in Sweden next year.

  7. skgambassadortoesc says:

I just saw the results of the semis; Sofi missed the last ticket on a tie :( :( :(

  8. skgambassadortoesc says:

…and Lithuania 4th in the semi?!!!!!!!!!!!!… no further comment :S

  9. tehoe says:

I’ve read that the venues in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo are considered for hosting in 2013.

  10. Shevek says:

    Hi, everyone! :)

These results prove that you have to know how to sing properly live to reach the top 10 and that has made my ESC day. Russia is the shameful (but expected) exception.

Indeed, Oxi, the voting patterns are alive and kicking. We shouted out loud the points before the announcer had the chance to do so. It was way too easy to predict too many points. Macedonia, Spain (hence my saying that Portuagl will never win ESC) were the main victim of this system. Another thing: east votes for east, west for west, north for north and south for south (I am simplifying a bit). The EBU should try to change this. If this carries on indefinitely, some countries may withdraw.

    • Dino Mil says:

Shevek you can not say that FYR Macedonia was a victim of this system. Almost 90% of their points came from the usual countries…god some of view can not leave aside their music preferences when it comes to analyse the voting.

Also wait to see the split results. There you will see how West has been heavily promoted by the juries. I amsmelling some prejudice and intention from the juries to destroy anything non-western (and in this I am not putting Cyprus).

      • Shevek says:

Dino, I could say the same about you. Look, Kaliopi is a very talented artist. Only her nighbours saw that. Some countries are destined to be ignored (Cyprus is one of them). My point is: had songs like Cyprus 12, Macedonia 12 and Spain 12 been sung by Ukraine, Russia or Turkey they would have ended much higher up.

P.S.: here are the votes of the Portuguese (both sets) in the second semi: (the countries are in Portuguese, but you can see who is who)

        12 pontos: Estónia
        10 pontos: Suécia
        8 pontos: Sérvia
        7 pontos: Lituânia
        6 pontos: Bulgária
        5 pontos: Bósnia & Herzegovina
        4 pontos: Eslováquia
        3 pontos: Noruega
        2 pontos: Ucrânia
        1 ponto: Geórgia

We gave 4 points to Slovakia and 10 to Estonia! We are certainly not in the majority side of things. LOOL

    • Loreen FTW!! says:

Russia and Sweden got points from all Eastern and all Western countries…

  11. teodor says:

just 4 points made my country to be sorted in the fifth place… and russia the worst place ever….

  12. tehoe says:

Congratulations ET for 1,5 million visitors :)

  13. With the full results of semis out, and all the results we just discovered (and amazing in many cases, I’ll let you guess how I screamed at each fucking-awesome 12 to Albania but seeing Spain, Germany and Italy all making the top 10 pleased my day, if only Rona had 4 more pts to take that “look I pee in my dress” Azerbaijan down…), there’s much to comment, for instance I’m glad I got Lithuania wrong, as it was great and deserved its 3rd place in semi, above Turkey, Estonia or Macedonia who will all beat him in the grand night, due to his 4th draw…

    • So all my comments and analysis will come, all in good time, for now I refuse to take part in the whole euphoria (hm) that follows esc outcome. Just let me sigh in relief at the fact Russia did not win, that Romania, Greece, Cyprus all failed to make it to the top 10 and that Norway came last, with Germany, Spain and Italy in the top 10 to prove that songs did matter and that, indeed, I will be here again next year. For now, let’s enjoy the weekend and dig into it once all the people online who are not truly fans stop spoiling all around and we can more objectively discuss this esc edition that is already past us.

    • Loreen FTW!! says:

All 12s for Albania, maybe except San Marino were diaspora – Italy, Macedonia, Switzerland! :D

  14. Loreen FTW!! says:

Russia got points from 41/42 voting countries yesterday, all Western Europena countries voted for it, except Switzerland, so I hope now hates of babushki will shut up!! :D

Loreen also, she got points from 41/42 countries, only 0 from Italy!

  15. togravus says:

I have made it a very brief birthday brunch but my friend understood that I was stil in ESC mode. That’s what friends are for. :)

Here is my final list for 2012. A commented version will come up in the next days (for those who are interested). I put my pre-contest rankings in brackets. As you can see, live performance matters a lot to me.

    25. Denmark 6/12 (13)
    26. Slovenia 6/12 (19)
    27. Belgium 6/12 (30)

    31. Malta 5/12 (36)
    32. United Kingdom 4/12 (23)
    33. Belarus 4/12 (29)
    34. Lithuania 4/12 (32)
    35. Netherlands 3/12 (18!!!) :( :( :( – such a nice song butchered live, both vocally and visually
    36. Ireland 3/12 (38)
    37. Georgia 2/12 (33)
    38. Greece 2/12 (39)
    39. Slovakia 1/12 (34)
    40. San Marino 1/12 (35)
    41. Russia 0/12 (41)
    42. Austria 0/12 (42)

All in all it was a pretty strong year, and as many people have said, we got rid of almost all silly acts and bad songs in the semis. Unfortunately, the only really bad act that made it to the final came 2nd.

  16. Sabina Babayeva for Stockholm says:

Everything in Serbian voting in semifinal was as I expected, we gave 12 points To Nina Badric, then we gave 10 to Eva Boto (jury helped here because her song was written by Molitva’s composer Vladimir Graic), then we gave 8 to Kaliopi and 7 to Loreen! In the final we gave 10 to Loreen and 12 to Kaliopi because many of those who voted Nina Badric then voted for Kaliopi!

i was only surprised to see we gave 6 to Lithuania in semis (that is jury) and only 6 to Maya Sar in semi is not surprise, we gave her 6 again in the final!

Interesting is that Croatia gave us 12 in the final and 10 to Maya, and in semifinal was contrary! I really don’t understand those issues with jury in semi and in final when they vote different for the same songs! How that happens?

    • Why do you pretend to know how juries and televoters voted? You don’T know for sure!!

      • Sabina Babayeva for Stockholm says:

LOL because I know for Serbia not 100% but 105% that what I said in my previous comment, please I want peace, you sholdn’t be that harsh with me all the time, just because you dislike my mentality, you have blog where there are visitors of different mentality and you should respect me more! maybe earlier i was rude, but since I appeared few days ago to your blog, i definitely wasn’t! ;)
I know who was our jury and i know how good friends they are with Vladimir Graic, composer of ‘Molitv” and “Verjamem” and I know how it works in Serbia, they simply had to give 12 or 10 to Eva Boto because of him…and i have right to express it here..
        Have a nice day! :)

  17. Sabina Babayeva for Stockholm says:

For example France gave 6 points to Loreen in semifinal and the 12 to Loreen in the final! :S :/ I wonder if anybody in the World has explanation for that.. :D

    • In the semi-final few people watched!! THe impact of diaspora votes is way higher! People originally from Turkey will watch the second semi-final and vote for their country for example.. There is no interest for a normal French person to watch it. IN the final more people watch and the diaspora impact is much smaller…

  18. Sabina Babayeva for Stockholm says:

Grannies stormed the 1st semi, they got 12 from BELGIUM where there aren’t Russians at all, the same goes fro Denmark, they got BIG 12 from Denmark, also Finland! :) Grannies actually scored better in Western Europe than in Eastern Europe! :)

Hahhaha Albanian points in semi are so strange and funny, 10 to San Marino, 12 to Rambo Amadeus! :O :D
