Eurovision 2012: The Voting Order

Posted: May 26, 2012 by eurovisiontimes in Eurovision Song Contest 2011

Eurovision 2012 – The EBU has just released the order in which the 52 participating countries will vote tonight. The order was arranged according to the jury’s votes last night in order to create the biggest possible suspense. First conclusions can be drawn from this order. We think Sweden did quite well, as almost all of its friends vote in the second part (to create suspense in the beginning). The results will be announced by some former competitors and hosts such as Paula Seling for Romania, Safura for Azerbaijan, Amaury Vassili for France, Getter Jaani for Estonia, Mr. Lordi for Finland and Anke Engelke for Germany (Eurovision host 2011)

Nice to see ex-Eurovision participants announce the votes :)

  2. guitaristbl says:

The algorithm that is supposed to be followed to determine the voting order says that the nordic countries juries massively voted for someone…And I doubt that someone is Russia ;)

  3. Shevek says:

It seems that Sweden is going to win, doesn’t it?

  4. Anonymous says:

Albania is the winer of eurovision this year. Hope for Albania

  5. togravus says:

I have just listened to ESCInsight’s daily podcast and please allow me to quote Steven Newby: “I can live with anyone winning as long as it is not Russia.” He gives the same reasons I have given before. A Russian victory would severely damage the reputation and credibility of ESC in Germany (for him in the UK) … and I guess that the same would happen in many other countries too.

Yes, I do not like Ireland and Lithuania either but if one of them won (which won’t happen) it wouldn’t damage the contest’s credibility for several years or even decades. It would just be a silly episode and not a major blow like a Russian win.

    • Shevek says:

I can’t listen to them now. Who do they think is going to win?

      • togravus says:

They think that Sweden will win but hope for a suprise winner … but a few minutes later they hope that Sweden will win because they think that “Euphoria” would be the first ESC song topping the UK charts since 1997 if Loreen won. The poor things seem to be pretty confused at this point, but who can blame them after having been in the Baku craziness for two weeks.

In the end they agreed that the contest will go to a CET country next year.

I was about to listen to the podcast as well (great job done in these podcasts btw, they really do analyze many possible aspects each time) and I salute that as well…Russia is not my least favourite act tonight (3rd last actually) but it would be damaging in several way : credibility is the most important but impact the following years on the participating acts is important (and is connected to the credibility issues..). Withdrawals are to be expected as well. 100 % with you at the first paragraph and I am putting Malta and Albania in the 2nd one instead of Lithuania and Ireland. Let’s at least enjoy the show :) !

      • togravus says:

I really stand in awe before ESCInsight’s team. They have been disussing the same bunch of songs for two weeks now but still come up with new aspects and observations every time they make a podcast. Most other blogs reporting from Baku said sth more or less interesting on the 1st day and then kept regurgitating the same stuff for two weeks. Btw, do you know that Samantha Ross was a regular of this site until last season?

  6. mermaid says:

The only thing I don’t like about this site is (I hope the moderator is hearing me) is this like/dislike options…Really people don’t seem to know when to use it…Oh well,Enjoy your night everyone…May the best win :)

  7. dimitrisesc says:

Finally,Loreen is #1 in the Greek i-tunes chart!Cyprus is #2 and our song #18.I expect that the Greek voting will be something like this: 12p-Cyprus,10p-Sweden.8p.Albania/Russia.7p Russia/albania.6p-Serbia/Italy.

  8. dimitrisesc says:

Or maybe i overestimate Russia. They may take 8 pts from our televote but with the combined results,Italy,Serbia and Albania should be higher.

  9. Xello says:

I think that Serbia will be leading in first half of voting, but second half will be fight between Sweden and Russia definitely…

  10. dimitrisesc says:

Last year the 1st country to vote was Russia and they gave 12p to the winner,Azerbaijan.Tonight the first country to vote is Albania and they will most probably give 12p to Italy.I hope that’s just a coincidence.

  11. guitaristbl says:

Ok less than an hour to go and I have to get prepared, the time is here for yet another year :) ! Thanks to everyone for all the discussions, agreements and disagreements we had during yet another esc period and let the new round begin from let’s see..tomorrow ! I hope everyone will enojy the show and cheer for your favourites..! May the best one win tonight and above all, let us all the viewers and the 26 participating artists enjoy the contest :) !

  12. Martin McGuinness says:

Hurrah, It’s the day we’ve all been waiting for. Happy Eurovision day everyone.
Okay, so I’ve done well with my predictions this year getting 9/10 in both semi finals but now it’s the tricky bit. trying to work out who might make the Top 10 and also win overall.
I think Sweden is looking sure fire for the win (even with the cough during the Jury final choking on the snow prop) which slightly disappoints me as it will take some of the excitement away from the scoring if Loreen wins by a landslide. I prefer it to be close and have us guessing until the end but I don’t think this will happen, She still does a great performance, seesm a lovely lass and even if it isn’t my favourite song of the contest I wish all good luck to Sweden.
Italy Spain, Russia and Serbia are the one’s I think may give Sweden a challenge. I’d like Ireland to make the Top 10 and hope they do. Looking at the draw. Malta, Moldova and Macedonia all have good spots but will they do enough to make the Top 10? am not sure. I think the host nation will squeeze in there now they’ve toned down warbling/wailing man (I know he is a huge star in his field but to me it’s just noise and totally destroys the Azerbaijani entry, so hopefully now it will be much improved). Estonia should make it even with his vocal acrobatics with the song while Ukraine, no matter how messy should never be discounted. I’d love for Rona to make it very high for Albania but it’s not a great draw but am ever hopeful.
Hmmm, decisions, decisions. Okay my final ten then (more guess work than anything else) will probably be a different top 10 after seeing and hearing them all on tonight’s show.
    10 Albania/Azerbaijan
    9 Ukraine
    8 Macedonia
    7 Estonia
    6 Ireland
    5 Italy
    4 Serbia
    3 Russia
    2 Spain
    1 Sweden
Good luck to all the participants, I hope everyone enjoys the show and has a great evening. Have fun folks. Am sure we’ll on be on at some point afterwards to dissect the contest and the results.Cheers. :)

Loreen won the the Marcel Bezencon award for the most artistic performance!
