Eva was mesmerising tonight ! I mean…Malta ?? gosh really..Slovenia not qualifying is the worst esc crime imo since the dutch elimination in 2005..I can’t even get it how..Malta ??

  2. Dino Mil says:

I got 8. Of course I did not predict Malta and Lithuania. But Lithuania was a last moment 10th in my list.

If I had to make swaps then there are many:

Netherlands, Slovakia, Belarus in first instance and then Slovenia which did not covince me today but ok i prefer it from others.

  3. togravus says:

I got 8/10. Missed Lithuania and Malta and had Slovenia and Portugal in instead.

I can sort of understand Malta qualifying in what was basically a ballad semi … but Lithuania? That song has zero musical substance imo.

My biggest casualty is Croatia but I never expected Nina to make it through. Slovenia probably is most in shock atm.

Macedonia was the runaway winner at our party, BiH came second and Sweden (Loreen was very strong tonight) came 3rd.

My mother has fallen in love with Tooji. Should I be worried?

    • guitaristbl says:

We had the same prediction adarvus..FYR Macedonia was voted as the best act here as well..My dutch friends had high hopes and are gutted by now though..Loreen was 2nd and Bosnia 3rd along with Norway..Estonia next (everyone commented on the unnecessary shouting..)..But..Malta ??

      • togravus says:

Joan was a vocal car crash tonight. :( The Netherlands really have to rethink their approach to ESC imo.

        • guitaristbl says:

I thought she was alright and I would love to see her in the final..Although she was not voted the best there was euphoria all over here for The Netherlands..probably because of a bunch of enthusiastic dutch..! I guess I could have veen carried away thinking she could make it..It was not the dutch time this year either :(

          • togravus says:

She only came 16th at our party. Only Lithuania and Georgia got less votes. In fact, Georgia got a big fat 0!

            • guitaristbl says:

Bulgaria got the big fat zero hero here (to my surprise one of my friends found georgia quite entertaining..at least my biggest fear did not come true..!)..Joan came 7th after Filipa..She was stunning btw as well..Kaliopi walked all over Zeliko though and is a serious contender now imo..

              • togravus says:

It will depend on the draw. Btw, I was really surprised that Loreen got most votes from people over 60 years old at our party. My parents are both 71 years old … my mother gave 10 points and my dad gave 8. They both had Macedonia first, but then almost everyone had.

          • Anonymous says:

            Kaliopi was great !

    • here in France everyone was all over Estonia and he jumped to #2 in my list, Macedonia, Serbia and Bosnia came in my group’s top while everyone here hated Sweden or Slovenia (uglyest dress this year?)

I strongly disagree on Lithuania… I had it in my wish list and he totally deserved it, he nailed it vocally and performance wise, he totally sold an upbeat song like no one else alone on stage! I am very glad we’ll see Lithuania instead of Slovenia saturday!

  4. Sir Shakespeare says:

Me, just like the most of you, missed Lithuania and Malta. So 8 right of 10. I think the Maltese entry was quite flat, but Kurt delivered a very joyful and relaxed performance, and I guess that helped. But I really don’t understand Lithuania. Our Swedish commentators were rather shocked about that too.

  5. Francesco_Russo says:

    slovakia :’(

  6. Dino Mil says:

Lithuania proved that you can qualify from a taugh final nom atter if f you sing alone :)

Happy to see them along with the returners FYR Macedonia (my last moment swap with Lithuania) and Malta which was just 16th in my list, but never mind Kurt was very good.

Well well I am really sorry for the Netherlands, Belarus and Slovakia they did a very good job but boooom down again! I can swap them wiht cheesy Malta, the mainstream Bosnia and Herzegovina, the glittery Ukraine (but Gaitana nailed it). Also I would prefer Slovenia than FYR Macedonia I like fresh classy girls. The rock sounds offered by Belarus and Slovakia were sound better to me than Kalipi’s.

Also is No3 destined to be a ”black hole” in SF? I guess only one made it since 2004. Isn’t it?

  7. As for Malta, as soon as he got his feet working, I knew he was gonna make it. Lovely background, joyful performance, he really did seem to enjoy it and share that and vocally, as usual with malta, it was spot on; so overall i see malta being the 10th one, after all they came 11th two years in a row before that and always come really great live with poor songs, missing out, this time making it, the usual malta in esc!

  8. Dino Mil says:

9th year in raw for the Netherlands…it looks unbreakable! Thank God I am not Dutch ESC-wise…

  9. Press conference about to start for those interested:

  10. skgambassadortoesc says:

Imho, this was a way better semi that the first one. Almost all stage performances were above average. Surprisingly enough even some songs that I don’t like were very well presented, namely: Malta and Slovakia. There were only two I didn’t like at all: Georgia and Ukraine (by far the worst two tonight imho). I’m so sad about Joan and Filipa (I love both songs and both ladies); on the other hand, I’m so happy about, Kaliopi (love, hat off, respect :) ), Can and most of all Ott who was absolutely stunning tonight and actually received a standing ovation at our party :)

My probable votes on Saturday: Albania, the F.Y.R of Macedonia, Turkey, Estonia and either Iceland, Italy (english just doesn’t let me love this song though) or Spain (provided that Pastora will nail it as she did during the rehearsals).

PS: I hope it’s not the way too much wine that I had, speaking right now :p LOL

  11. Razvan says:

I got 8/10 ..i thought Croatia and Slovenia would qualify instead of Lithuania and Malta. I’m so sad for Slovenia, was my 4th fav this year. :(

  12. roger says:

thank u europe for voteing for malta we deservrd to pass i think kurt gave one of the best perfomance on stage good luck kurt u deserve it

  13. roger says:

i dont know why some people are surpresed that malta went to the final hey u dont have eyes and ears ? malta had a good song a charming singer and avery nice group they gave us a great performance on stage did they ? so they deserve it 100% thanks europe .

  14. louis borg says:
