Eurovision 2012 – Another day’s rehearsals have taken place at the Crystal Hall and reports coming through from Baku say the Russian grannies put on a good first performance, and Ireland had a nice fountain. Israel, San Marino, Cyprus, Hungary, Denmark, Austria and Moldova have also rehearsed. Pasha for Moldova got a bit racy. Check out all the rehearsals thanks to ESCXtra:

Moldova was fab. Ireland did well and will look great. Russia was so cute which is fine by me. Hungary and Cyprus were better than expected. Israel and Denmark weren’t (vocally fine but a bit dull). San Marino was fine but Austria was disappointing. 1 Moldova 2 Ireland 3 Russia 4 Cyprus 5 Hungary 6 Israel 7 Denmark 8 San Marino 9 Austria. I shall place all 18 in order after the second rehearsals finish.
I agree with Martin re: Moldova; the best by far today imo, and i really loved the choreography. Israel, my #1 this year, were very good but I think that they can do even better; not sure about those backing vocalists btw. Cyprus and Denmark gave some convincing performances. As for Hungary, I think it was probably their best live performance that i’ve personally seen since A Dal. Btw I’ve never noticed it before but… is Csaba Walkó (the leading singer) kinda sexy or…what? :p

I only watched Israel, San Marino, Cyprus and Moldova. Out of those Moldova is my winner. Pasha will probably end up in my top 10 if his vocals are that strong and his act that entertaining when it counts. Cyprus was better than expected and Israel a bit lacklustre. I still love the song so. On San Marino, such a shame that one of the best singers this year has agreed to sing that awful Siegel thing.

I think this year Russia will win, i can see the grannys being huge sex symbols after the contest, The song is by far the best this year, and the vocal talent is just mind blowing.
Israel: simple, strong and effective
San Marino: no comment
Cyprus: disgustingly tacky, should never be in the final but it’ll do a greece 2009-2010 result
Russia: ridiculous, stupid, irrelevant
Hungary: WOW let’s be careful here but it DOES sound like he WORKED on his vocals, and the visuals look awesome. Hungary is one of the countries with Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Netherlands fighting my 10th spot and open for after the live (as my top 9 won’t change, Albania, Israel, Bosnia, Turkey, Serbia, Italy, Iceland, Estonia and Finland are just better songs) and this looks greater than Denmark on pure rehearsal
Austria: admittedly, it was fun and I think the televote will have them in top 10 but juries will stop them from going to the final
Moldova: it’s like a “good” version of what Georgia tries to do. It’s catchy but overall, I think it’ll be way too simple and typical to go through the final
Ireland: I had “lipstick” in my top 10, it was crazy gagaesque and fun but this is a very radio friendly mainstream CRAP and they cant deliver such energetic performance per se and the whole water gimmick is way too fake and boring to me, i think it’ll do just like last year and thanks to a fan base and a whole media coverage get around 8th-12th but the song is just too lame to win
Romania is THE BEST! Remember?! Fuck Azerbaijan!
If I were to predict, id say that will qualify: Iceland, Latvia, Albania, Cyprus, Switzerland, Denmark, Russia, Hungary, Greece and Ireland… it can’t be Romania, Greece and Cyprus and ONE will be left out, in a semi with both Greece and Cyprus but also both Romania and Moldova it’s hard to predict but if all three make it, then I’m very afraid that Romania will still the spot from Rona which I think will qualify with something like 8th from televote and a top 4 from the juries… I’m afraid Israel amazing song might be left out in favor of the younger more teener and radio friendly Switzerland. I thought Denmark could surprise by NOT making it, but this semi hasnt much great ballad, apart from Iceland and Albania and I think Denmark will score very high with the juries, enough to make it anyway. Finland, sadly, I don’t see them in the final at all and that saddens me.
My personal choices would be: Albania, Israel, Iceland, Finland, Hungary, Denmark, Switzerland for sure and my last 3 spots would go to the better performed songs Latvia, Moldova and Ireland being the songs I like best of the left ones (I dislike Montenegro, San Marino, Romania, Greece, Cyprus and Russia a lot)… Belgium and Austria, I’m indifferent to.
