Austria: !DelaDap to Compete With New Song

Posted: February 3, 2012 by eurovisiontimes in Austria

Austria – So the ORF went for the third choice: !DelaDap will get a chance to win the Austrian ticket to Baku with a different song. The Gypsie swing band had been disqualified as the song they entered into the competition. Crazy Swing had been performed publicly before September 1st. It thus was not in keeping with the EBU’s rules. The Austrian broadcaster decided to keep the band in the competition and let them choose a new song.

The song is called “Don’t Turn Around”:

Im glad that they can enter with another song:)

Just quick news from Serbia: Zeljko Joksimovic and Jovana Jankovic are married (couple of days ago)… Today Zeljko said in an interwiev that Serbian song will be presented in early March…

    Im saying around 5-15th…

  2. like it better than the first song actually, but I still think it’s unfair: they broke the rules, they should have been disuqliafied and a 10th act should have been invited to compete. But of course, if they didnt prepare for that possibility and had no 11th in their sheet, I get why they’d wanna do that…

    • Shevek says:

      I could not agree more.

    • Me, too! says:

I agree completely about kicking them out. The broadcaster almost certainly had them sign a contract specifying their responsibilities (for example, compete and Baku if they win the national selection), and it would have included representations that the song met the criteria for Eurovision (who the composers were, and that it wasn’t performed publicly before the first date allowed – which it was).

They took a spot away from a legal entry. I would ban them for life (and probably sue them for misrepresenting the song).

  3. M-Fireball says:

Their previous song I hated, this one is way better for me…but still not my cup of tea…and I agree with Morgan..they should change both artist and song..

  4. togravus says:

I like this new song too and seriously think about buying a Deladap album. :) On the other hand, I agree with Morgan and Marko. They should have got a 2nd chance, but next year.

  5. Martin McGuinness says:

I like this song. Better than the woeful Trackshittaz who seem likely to make it this year judging from the responses I’ve read on various sites. (I think it’s noise, perhaps it’s just not my genre of music)

Hello Togravus and Marko hope you’re both well. Haven’t been on the sites much lately as a few things going on with family and friends getting ill so time has been limited. Am endeavouring to make more time though now that the selesction season is upon us.
Am loving Albania’s entry but fear it wll lose something when cut to 3mins. Will have to wait and see what sort of job they make on it.
Also liking the French entry, and think that Switzerland’s and Denmark’s are okay too. Even Cyprus’s entry isn’t too bad (I know you disagree Togravus).
So far am happy enough with the songs selected so far. Might be a promising year.

  6. L says:

They might have broken the rules, but we don’t know details regarding their situation. I don’t see the problem if they are allowed to stay in the competition if they get a different song that doesn’t break any rules. In fact, I am happy they got a second chance because ALL their songs are good and it’s better than getting in someone new who I might hate, lol. :P It’s not as good as “crazy swing”, but it’s still a 9/10 and still my favourite in this NF.

  7. Max Raspail says:

My new favourite is my old favourite… “Crazy Swing” was better, but “Don’t Turn Around” can keep my first place in a strong Austrian final…
I so hope they’ll make it… maybe this whole story brought them some extra publicity…

    @ togravus
Funny, today I heard their “I Know What You Want”-album on itunes and decided that this will be the next album I’ll buy… ;) … so, exactly the same thought…
do you know Shantel? !DelaDap have a similar style… and slightly, it reminded me of the Caro Emerald-album, but that’s just ’cause it’s a nearby genre…

    • togravus says:

LOL, I checked their stuff today too and yes, some of their songs reminded me of Shantel. :)

      • Max Raspail says:

oh, cool you know him…. not a lot people know him – I always have to add “the guy of Disco Partizani” and then they go “aaah, him”… ;-)
I’ve been to his concerts four times by now (often with my brothers who love him a lot, too) and still can’t get enough…

  8. roselildk says:

Happy to see !DelaDap back, they have a different style. The song is ok

  9. Scott Hirst says:

well thats improved austria’s chances in the semi final if they chose Deladap instead of that tranny (sorry cant spell his name so was jst easier to put that)

  10. Scott Hirst says:

if they do go with this we could see austria in the final with maybe a good posion at last something different it be exciting to find out how well this would do if it got sent.

  11. Scott Hirst says:

slightly off topic, I realy dont get why people are underating cyprus entry on you tube and other ESC Sites, for once they send something realy good and still they get stick for it, cut them some slack. iI still think some people in mainland europe are behind in todays music what Ivi is sending is stuff that we hear everyday on UK radios and in our music charts, although there are some mediterranean qualities too it its still got a Modern Pop/R’n'B style they should get high point with the UK anyway.
