Armenia – In an interview with mediamax.am, Sietse Bakker, the supervisor of the Eurovision event, claimed that Armenia has not requested any specific security measures for its participation in the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Nevertheless, he can only confirm the country’s presence at or withdrawal from the festival when the official list participants will be released, probably next week.
Negotiations about the presence of the Armenian delegation in Baku began in June but so far nothing has been decided. Gohar Gasparyan, head of the Armenian delegation, said he had made the security request to the organizational committee and has not received a response. “The EBU does not guarantee safety, since providing such service is beyond our reach. However, we require the security and services of the host broadcaster and the respective authorities and / or partners. In the event this year we were given security guarantees applicable to all participating delegations by the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan. Moreover, the possible involvement of Armenia was discussed with representatives of the city of Baku in August last year, to reaffirm that such guarantees would apply specifically to the Armenian delegation. All potential participants, including AMPTV (Armenian national broadcaster) were informed about the guarantees of the prime minister, “said Sietse.

aa native speakers (and more experienced Englishers) is the title even possible?
well yeah i knew what you meant, it’s VERY “slangish” though, for an article, but then agian, it’s your blog so you can set the tone just the way you want it
I was looking for a translation for “Um den heißen Brei reden” .. and only came up with this..
I wish this becomes music festival again like earlier, it’s obvious that Azerbaijan and Armenia are fighting in ESC like they did in reality! Conchita from Ausrtia is transporting some messages which are also not part of music festival! I want PURE MUSIC FESTIVAL like earlier!
If you don’t want messages in ESC, everyone will have to sing ‘lalala’ or ‘nanana’ … or in Sanomian or Ishtarian.
Language always has a message, in fact that is the only reason mankind invented it.
And there have always been political messages in an abstract sense in ESC: “Ein bißchen Frieden’, ‘Sámiid ædnan’, ‘Nuku pommiin’ etc. … and all the stuff in the early 1990s: ‘Insieme: 1992′, ‘Give a Little Love Back to the World’, ‘Für den Frieden der Welt’, ‘Sva bol svijeta’, ‘Brandenburger Tor’ etc.
But I understand what you mean of course and think that I agree. Keep politics out of ESC!
I think singing for tolerance and self-acceptance is not part of the politics thing though…
That’s what I meant. Those things are abstract and part of ESC’s ‘nature’ … if I am allowed to use this word when referring to a cultural event.
Gohar, is woman, She co-hosted the Junior Eurovision 2011!!
enough with this drama..they should have already informed what they are planning to do,who do they think they are? We are in -We are out the answer is simple as that.
They should go and participate. Really! They should come up and demonstrate that they respect ESC and what’s importnat is the music. If they are treated bad, they can make a complaint to EBU immediatly, media will be inflamed and abviously the Ictimai sanctioned.
