Portugal: 12 Acts Revealed for Festival da Canção

  Portugal – The names of the 12 acts that have been chosen for Festival da Canção 2012 have today been announced  by the Portugese national broadcaster RTP. There were over 400 applications to the festival and two large auditions which were held in Lisbon and Porto. There are also 5 artists on the reserve list, in case any acts withdraw or are disqualified. The composers for the songs have not been announced yet. RTP have decided that the following 12 performers should go through to their national final which will take place on March 10th:

The 12 acts are:

António José Fernandes Martins da Silva
Pedro Ricardo Céu Portas e Susana Maria Soares Gonçalves
Filipa Alexandra Nunes Alves de Sousa
Pamela Correia de Brito Salvado
Vânia Osório
Arménio José dos santos Lameirão Pimenta
Pedro Macedo Vidal Tomás
Joana Filipa Leite Silva
Rui Andrade
Carlos Costa
Ricardo Soler

The 5 reserves are:
Raquel Soraia Guerra Romero Conceição
José Hermenegildo Mendes Tavares
Vera Lúcia Afonso Fraga
Bruno Emanuel de Jesus Gomes
Sara Pinto

The final will be decided by televoting and a jury.

  1. I want sooo bad a portuguese victory in the ESC. I hope that it will be this year. Btw, I looked for material of the 12 hopefuls but couldn’t find anything on YT :(

    Well, I do not know most of these names. They hail from talent shows that I don’t follow. I know that Rui Andrade (FdC11) is a good live singer and the cameras love him. Now we just have to wait for the songs. Boa sorte.
