Turkey – It’s official! Can Bonomo will represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Azerbaijan. So once again, every single rumor in Turkish media and on Eurovision sites (including ours) was wrong again. Apparently there were also negotiations with Atiye Deniz but after lengthy discussions between the directors of the channel Can Bonomo was chosen to fly the Turkish flag in Baku.
Can Bonomo started to play guitar at age 8 and began working professionally as a musician at 17. At the University of Istanbul, he was a student of the Department of Cinema and Television. He worked as a radio announcer, was a producer of programs on MTV, and appeared in several television commercials. His first album, “Meczup” was released last year after nearly two years of preparation. The singer cites The Shins, Wax Poetic, The Libertines and The Beatles as his main influences, and is considered an indie artist of the genre. In 2011, he received the award for best artist of Radio Bogazici.

If it is him then I hope he will sing in Turkish.

Seems quite promising, I think he would be a good choice for Turkey even though the song posted is not really a masterpiece (but still nice).
I’ve heard TRT confirmed him as the Turkish representative, but I was searching on their website and found nothing.

I have listened to more of his stuff and some songs are just perfect for my taste. He will have a pretty hard time though if he decides to visit fan sites in the months ahead. The schlager, ethnopop and europop crowd will hate him and probably come up with their worst possible vocabulary …

and all the newspapers that were going on about all the rumors, and mostly the polls with all the big typical mainstream singers… but TRT’s internal choice is so much better and smarter than that… of course we can be disappointed like YS last year, but then again Manga was one of the best ever from them and of recent years! I’m very hopeful once more!
Dont know what to expect… I realy wanted something pop-ethno (like dum tek tek)… I missed that kind of songs last year…

This is a step in the right direction for Turkey. Maybe I’ll actually begin liking them. With an exception of 2010, I haven’t really liked a Turkish entry since 1996/1997.

I do not. Like I said, I find it too noisy for me. It’s not a horrible song or even a bad song, but I didn’t like it.
The more I listen to Can Bonomo, the more pleased I am with this choice.

He sometimes crosses the line but who doesn’t???
